This place is like literally a stone's throw away from my office and I find myself in this panaderia if I hadn't had breakfast yet. Like a typical Filipino, I do enjoy my cup of coffee with old school pandesal and Spanish bread. Ever since my favorite bakeshop stopped making Spanish bread, I looked to Pantoja to satisfy my cravings and I found just that. Freshly baked in the mornings, it's sold at P7 per piece so I end just buying like a whole bunch to last me the entire day. It's buttery soft and the bread is a bit sweet too so it feels like a dessert rather than something you'd eat for breakfast--but I love it all the same. But it seems I'm not the only Spanish bread fan in the area because it gets sold out pretty quickly but I find their cheese bread to be a good alternative. Generous on the butter, cheese, and sugar, it's a comforting thing to have in the morning or afternoon for merienda. For me, panaderias beat the crap out of high end bakeshops. read more
