This unsophisticated bakery found on one of the busy streets leading to the Greenhills Shopping Center area does little to set your expectations high for a fancy experience. It might be the dim lighting or it could be the less-than-spotless surroundings, but whatever the cause, the fact remains that Philipans looks identical to any neighborhood bakery in Metro Manila, with all the attendant focus on utility that infers.
While this may sound like a negative, it isn't really one. Neighborhood bakeries are known more for their food than their ambience, after all, and in this regard Philipans does not disappoint. The various baked items are stored in a closed, likely hygienic display cabinet and the staff uses a plastic bag to pick your orders out.
Another typical characteristic is the wide array of choices. Spanish bread, pandesal, the usual cast is here in abundance. The positives don't stop at the variety; the items are tasty and appropriately sized. Prices are at a par with typical places of this type.
