It's the kind of place where you walk in thinking you'll "just get one thing" and somehow walk out with a box full of buns because having restraint here is really hard. I tried the golden onion bun, and it was so soft, fluffy, and delicious. I especially loved the sweet-and-savory combination -- it has that perfect balance that makes you want to keep going back for another bite. Highly recommend stopping by if you enjoy sweet and savory flavors, fluffy baked goods, and definitely take advantage of their happy hour deal .

Their desserts are ok, but their tea is amazing, and the matcha and coffee and great as well. Haven't had the ramen but it's coming up. This may be more of a cultural proximity, but I wholeheartedly appreciated the speediness, straightforwardness, and helpfulness in their service. Some of the other cafed I've been to with a similar concept are clumsy, bad at fulfilling orders, and overly pushy with tips and up selling. Bakery 1908 gave me what I wanted, how I wanted it, as I wanted one. Actually, the missing star is because of the actual quality of the bakery. It may be because of the time of the day (they had a buy two get one free offer), but their desserts lacked some filling/flavor. Nothing that accompanying them with a good drink wouldn't solve. I will give them many more tries, as they became my favorite of the bunch.

Either way, visiting this location really is the hack that you think it is. Since it is in the East End Market, you can simply waltz in with little to no line and order your delicious Gideon's treats. It is important to note that unfortunately they don't offer the cold brew here, however, as they don't have the facilities to make it like they do at Disney Springs. But, the cookies are just as delicious and they do always sell their limited edition cookies here in addition to their classics. It is also worth shopping around the market as well since there are many indulgences here ranging from sushi to cocktails to fun trinkets. It is best to visit at an off time though as parking can be a challenge.

I didn't realize that before ordering, so that definitely explains part of why this wasn't for me. Red velvet is usually my birthday cake, so I've tried it from quite a few places over the years. I personally prefer a softer, fluffy cake with a noticeable cocoa flavor and a tangy cream cheese frosting. Gideon's version was very different from that. The color was much more intensely red than I personally like, and I felt like I could taste the coloring. The texture of my slice also felt more wet/dense than moist and fluffy. There was plenty of frosting, but the cream cheese flavor was much more subtle than I prefer. I know this cake has a lot of fans, so I think this really comes down to style and personal preference. If you prefer a more traditional cocoa-forward red velvet with tangy cream cheese frosting, just know that this one is quite different. Their vanilla bean latte with almond milk was really good, and my husband LOVES the cookies & cream cake donut, which is currently their vegan and gluten-free flavor. He's a huge chocolate person and still talks about that donut lol. It's also nice to find an option like that because vegan and gluten-free donuts aren't always easy to find around Orlando. As for the regular donuts, nothing has really blown me away yet. The glazed donut was good, and I really enjoyed the cake donut holes. The strawberry shortcake sounded much more exciting than it tasted. IMO, it was basically a strawberry glazed donut. I also tried the tiramisu donut and didn't care for it. Between the mascarpone, cocoa powder, and everything else going on, it was a bit much, while somehow still tasting dry. I also tried the breakfast croissant with egg and cheese. The croissant itself was fine, but the baked egg was really soft and soggy, which I didn't enjoy. Hospitality was great when I was able to reach someone. I called with questions about the vegan donut and allergens. The employee was friendly, helpful, and answered all of my questions. Both Uber Eats orders were also correct. My biggest hesitation is the value. The prices felt a bit steep, especially when I didn't love most of the donuts I tried. Would I order again? Yes, but probably for a latte, the cake donut holes, and my husband's vegan/GF donut. I wouldn't necessarily drive across Orlando specifically for it, but if we were already on that side of town, I'd stop in.

If you decide to eat at the café, they'll even heat it up for you, which I highly recommend! The pastries were super affordable, and the staff were so kind and helpful.
