GENTE !!! If you're not Guatemalan, do yourself a favor and skip this place. I've given it multiple chances, but the service and attitude are consistently awful. Every visit feels unwelcoming -- staff treat non-Guatemalan customers with clear indifference, attitude, and delay your food while serving others first. Even after calling ahead, they don't start preparing your order until you arrive. The food is average , and the service ruins any chance of enjoying it. I've spent over $50 several times just to get incorrect orders and be met with rudeness instead of accountability.The space is small, not very clean, and they barely let you sit unless you're dining in -- and even then, it seems to depend on who you are. As someone who's also latin it's disappointing to see this kind of discrimination within our own community. The owner really needs to step up and address these issues -- the staff's poor attitude and lack of professionalism reflect badly on the business and the culture it represents. No matter how good a meal might be, bad service will always leave a bad taste. you guys don't deserve to run a business it's not for everyone. This business is basically racist and disappointing. If it's about the money I'm here to let you know you're loosing A lot of money due to it. If you don't care as the owner and staff the least you're showing what YOUR people are like. Their customer service is not so good and some of their staff is very unfriendly and inpatient, the food is ok and the ambience not so good

I always call ahead of time to order my phone. The last time I called they put me on hold to help people that where there instead of me they hung up and I had to call again and then they said now the wait time would be 30 minutes. This place hates unhoused folks. As a Guatemalan person this made me so sad to have to experience. Was there to buy pan dulce when an unhoused person asked if we could buy them food. We did and staff got upset we did that and made us wait half an hour for the food. Everyone that ordered after us kept getting their order. Will not ever come back here. They have bible verses every where in this joint about looking and loving one another and then treat people like this. Shame on this establishment. read more

I went to visit their location in Hawthorne for breakfast and then stop at the Lawndale location for bread. My breakfast was delicious The staff is super nice and friendly Very efficient and they know how to make great food The bread outstanding, amazing and delicious read more

I don't know why this little spot doesn't have a better rating. Yes it is very small but everything I have tried here was great & authentic. I have to bring my Guatemalan dad here and see what he thinks. He's used to Mexican food since that's what my mom is & she's the cook haha so I'll update once I bring them both here. Chicken tamales are great. For the ppl who don't like the "masa" this is not a Mexican tamale so the texture is very different. Rice was good & plantains with beans & crema were soo good. Also had some pastries from their bakery and those were yummy too. I was craving tamales after the holidays so I phoned in and they were about to close, the lady was so sweet and said she'd serve me up a plate. Awesome service. Food is pretty good, a little expensive but the service was horrible, the lady was rude, practically took the menu out of my hand.

This spot was just around the corner from me so I decided to stop by and get some papusas. Really hard to order though because no one speaks English and the menu is all in Spanish. The only way I could tell what I was ordering was by running outside and looking at the pictures. Besides ordering like 4 year everything was really good and very decent price. Their Tamales are not the traditional Mexican kind, I guess they are Guatemalan. They are big, really big, with large pieces of meat. They are not wrapped in corn husks, they are wrapped in foil. Big, tasty and sloppy. I still prefer the kind of tamales that I can pick up and eat by hand (these are not), but these are really delicious and meaty if you can get around the sloppy mess. I have had Pork and Chicken from here, both were equally delicious, large and messy. I recommend a fork and a bib, and lots of napkins. Definitely worth a try. read more

I grew up eating Guatemalan food and now that my family moved away, I had to find a place to buy my favorite meals. Everything we ordered was really good! I was pleasantly surprised. The longaniza had a slight kick and was really well seasoned. The beans and crema were really yummy too and went great with the plátanos fritos. The tortillas were nice and fresh. We watched one of the ladies making them by hand. I'm glad I found a new place! read more

I can't believe this place doesn't have more reviews! My favorite local Guatemalen food is served here. We had a pork and a chicken tamale. They were served up so hot we had to wait for them to cool down to eat. Maybe I shouldn't so I don't have to fight people to get into this place for their delicious tamales. I swear, the masa on these tamales is the lightest and fluffiest masa I have ever eaten in a tamale. Believe me, I have tried lots of tamales. Also had the plantains, beans and creme. Once again, the plantains were served so hot and fresh that I had to wait for them to cool so I wouldn't burn my mouth! The beans were smooth and creamy and the creme what thick and sweet. I also tried some of the creme on my tamales... delicious!! The bakery case is full of fresh breads and sweets too. Also, be sure to check out the hot table of ready to serve up items. I love this place. About 4 tables inside so keep that in mind at lunch time. I'll be back again and again. read more

As it good as it gets when I am craving central-American goodness in the south bay! The baker and ladies working there are the nicest and most hospitable. I usually come in for tamales, tostadas the salsa, longanisa. Their breakfasts are so good and served hot and fresh. Expect to wait if you are in between 9am-1pm during the weekends when everyone is trying to get their pan-dulce and ethnic breakfast! read more

I am glad to say that this place is much closer when my craving for good Comida Chapina arises! They bake their own bread and have hot food ready to serve. Some of their menu items are only available on weekends but that doesn't deter anyone from choosing one of their other choices. Typical dishes include tamales, taquitos, tostadas, revolcado, hilachas, chuchitos, y platanos fritos con crema. They also have a good variety of pan dulce (sweet bread). They are not right on the corner and parking is limited. Space to eat there is limited as well but it is clean and service is pretty decent. A great find in the South Bay for those of us that miss the flavors we grew up savoring! A must try place!! read more

yesterday 3/21/2020 I decided to call ahead an order ( 2 cheese pupusas, 2 revueltas , 2 taquitos), when I arrived the lady informed me that they didn't have cheese ,she then proceeded to tell me that she replaced my 2 cheese pupusas with chicharrón/bean , I then told her I didn't want it I wanted cheese but if they didn't have it if she could make me revueltas , she then INSISTED that I get what she replaced it with and that she wasn't going to make me new ones , let me start by saying I'm not paying for something I don't want let alone eating something I don't want, plus I didn't ask you to make me 2 chicharon/bean pupusas. Then , the lady behind her started to speak foul about me in Spanish to the lady all because I said I'm a picky Eater and would prefer just cheese and didn't want the chicharon/bean pupusas .It's very unprofessional of them to speak on a paying customer , especially someone that orders from there often. And on top of that I had to come back to return the pupusas revueltas because they messed up on them! Everytime I go there it's empty and the same 2 lady's are there with there horrible attitudes & im pretty sure there attitudes and unprofessionalism led to just that! I'll never order from here again! I'd rather go down to LA Bamba it's just as good , plus it's more reasonably priced. this place literally raises there prices every week. $14 almost $15 for 2 pupusas and 2 taquitos.
