5 stars! Pampanguena is one of our favorite places, and we've been coming here for years. I've been bringing my daughter since she was a baby, and the owners have always treated us like family. We come almost every month, and it's always such a warm and welcoming experience. You can shop for Filipino and Asian groceries in the market, then head to the back and enjoy some delicious food. The dining area is small, with only a few tables, but we've honestly never had an issue finding a place to sit. Our usual order includes pancit, longanisa, BBQ sticks, and of course their delicious halo-halo. Depending on my mood, I'll also get sinigang, lumpia, kaldereta, or kare-kare. Everything is always so good. And we never leave empty-handed! We usually grab frozen longanisa to cook at home, along with ube ice cream, ginataang bilo-bilo, buko pandan, and whatever snacks we're craving that day, like coffee candy or SkyFlakes crackers. I recently started coming to this spot and I'm so glad my sister told me about it! Like a lot of Asian stores, the front looks like a little market, but if you walk toward the back, you'll find a small restaurant with just a few tables. The people here are super nice and welcoming every time I visit. I live in North Miami, and for me to drive all the way to Cutler Bay just to get their food says a lot! I can't say enough good things about this place. I really really miss my Filipino family and because Miami isn't as advanced as Los Angeles when it comes to Filipino food, I'm really happy to see this location that's slightly close to me and has available options to be able to make the food at home. They have a pick pick in the back where you can build your own plates and the service is so lovely. I love the environment because it feels like I'm home. I love places like this. I am always on a quest to sample different foods.I am not that familiar with the dishes of the Filipins, so I was more than game to sample as much as possible. The service was friendly and sweet. I told them I wanted to sample a bit of everything, and they accommodated me. I tried Tocino - which is the red bacon. I really enjoyed it. Coming from the Bay Area, I was really surprised with the lack of Filipino places around this area. Glad to have found this place. Small grocery area. But they got the basics. Few cooked dishes but were good. I ordered rice, pork sinigang, tocino and blood stew. They were good. Service was awesome. Parking is huge and is shared with other stores. I am so happy that my coworker told me about this place! I love pancit and I enjoy authentic pancit even more! I have tried my hand at it a few times and while good, it is nothing like authentic pancit. Even the lumpia Shanghai was delicious. And if I am being perfectly honest, I probably should have gotten two orders. I came on this particular to introduce my boyfriend to the deliciousness of pancit. He enjoyed it and the lumpia (which he tried to eat all of). I love that there is a grocery there as well. I was able to get some noodles for my next attempt at making pancit. Of course the best noodles to get are straight from the Philippines but this location has good noodles too. Will definitely be coming more often! read more

I'm very impressed! I had the palabok which is rice noodles with fried minced pork in shrimp sauce, dressed in hard boiled eggs and scallions. This strange-sounding dish was a quick highlight of my day since it tasted absolutely lovely with a squeeze of lime over it. I would definitely order it again and even seek out the dish in other Filipino restaurants! Now, as for the place, it's in a warehouse that serves as a strip mall in an area full of auto body shops. And the entrance is hidden behind two large propane canisters, for some reason. And upon entering, the place looks small but the narrow hall opens up further in the back where food is made with love behind the oriental market. They have a lot of prepared foods ready to be served, but they also have a sparse breakfast and regular dining menu filled with plates made from scratch. And one of the plates is this palabok. I ordered a lumpia as well, which is a standard Filipino egg roll, and while it wasn't anything special (already prepared), it was thicker than what I'm used to seeing. For $1.50, it was a fair price and my entire meal was $6.25 with the palabok. Do come and enjoy the made-from-scratch Filipino items and the friendly service the women provides. And as for the market, they have a lot of variety of items and it looks organized and well priced as well - probably a great addition for Asians living in the area. But it's the Filipino food that I would come for. (I also saw that the long strips of pan-fried fish and sancit minced pork in special seasoning were popular.) read more

I had never tried Filipino before and after discovering this place on Yelp with so many wonderful reviews I was very excited to try it. Tucked away in a warehouse district in Perrine area, this restaurant is located in the back of Asian market that I also recommend to fellow Asians. I came with two friends and since the menu items were so affordable we decided to order a host of things to share. We noticed during our short wait for our large order that everyone coming in was ordering food to go and knew the woman managing the store on a first name basis! Such a pleasure to see so many friendly regulars which completely makes sense because this family run business is ran by the nicest people! We ordered off their normal menu which we were told they've slowed down on their cooking a little bit during the week since they've been doing this for 20 long years, the owners recommending we visit during the weekend for their cafeteria styled buffet of Filipino Classics. We ordered the: - Pancit Palabok $6: vermicelli rice noodles with shrimp sauce, diced pork, chicharron, boiled eggs, fried garlic and scallions - Sizzling Sigsig $12: minced pork belly, red onion, calamansi, and bird peppers - Dinguan $6: pork shoulder with banana peppers stewed in vinegar and pork blood - Lumpia Shanghai $6: beef and vegetables fried egg rolls My favorite has to be the sizzling sigsig which was just insanely good and my go to recommendation though everything tasted unique and flavorful. Small authentic market with all the Filipino goodies, from froze, fresh, & packaged food you can find it all in this little shop. All the way at the end of the market there is a small cafeteria where they have a small buffet style and a make to order menu. Make sure to call in before hand if you are planning to go there to eat because the food is so good it sells out FAST! learned that the hard way lol. Was on vacation with a bunch of my friends a month or so ago & were all craving some Filipino breakfast but not being from around here, didn't realize the pickings were slim in Florida. Came across this wonderful gem of a restaurant where the owner was super friendly and accommodated our request for some garlic rice for 10 even though it was well past breakfast time. They always remember me when I go and know I need help! They give me tips on how to cook things and what to mix together. The have yummy treats there too. Check the frozen/refrigerated section. Came here for lunch with a friend where we split a few different items. First, I've never had a 'craving' for Filipino food, much less a passing interest in it, but this restaurant happened to be in a good 'midway' point for my friend and I to grab a weekday lunch. I'm glad we stopped in. AMBIENCE-- There is none. You're eating in a grocery store that has a couple tables set aside. Don't take a first date here. There was no music playing, which was eerie. SERVICE-- It's counter service, but everyone was quite happy to see us. We even got a free side dish to try out. PRICE-- $10 will get you stuffed, so this is a good place for a cheap fill up. Be aware there is a minimum for credit cards, so bring cash. FOOD-- We tried the palabok (shrimp paste over vermicelli), pansit vermicelli, dinuguan (pork stew), milkfish and lumpia shanghai (egg rolls). I can say without a doubt, if you are unfamiliar with Filipino cuisine, ask to try a little palabok before you order a full plate. Shrimp paste has a very peculiar flavor, and neither my friend nor I were fans of that flavor. Otherwise, the dinuguan pork was delicious (if you don't like 'porky' flavor, stay away), the lumpia shanghai were a great portion for the price, and the pansit vermicelli was the real winner. The milkfish could have been fresher (it looked to have been cooked in the morning and had been sitting for a while), but for $6 it wasn't a huge loss. Overall I recommend! read more
