I am a general contractor and I do all of my own books, but I realized I needed some help with the more complicated transactions. Read more if you want to know why! So a friend recommended Pam to me, but my husband told me maybe i can find a "cheaper" consultant. He wasn't wrong. There are plenty of "cheap" consultants. So, I chose a consultant (not Pam) and boy did I learn to regret it! I paid ahead of time for an hour consultation because I knew I had a lot of questions. When I got on the call with the "other" consultant, she was rude and condescending. She would say things like "click the button, it's RIGHT there!" Made me think- listen lady, you know where everything is because you're used to this program, I don't... She was also showing me useless things that I wasn't even asking for making me feel like she was trying to drag on my call. Well, 15 minutes into the call and I had enough! I rushed her off the phone even though I had paid for my hour. I just said "Thank you, I think I'm good for now." Her attitude was too distracting for me to even understand how to work the program. I'd rather lose money than to spend another minute with her. I immediately scheduled a call with Pam even though her price was more than ANY OTHER QuickBooks consultants! I got on the call easily, and she went straight to the points I needed. She didn't show me just anything to make the call longer. She first asked me about my business to get a sense of how she can help me and she showed me how to do tasks that she could tell I would most likely need to do. She was very hands on. First, she'd show me a step a couple times, then she would tell me to take control and do it myself so that I LEARNED to do it on my own. She also fixed a lot of things for me *insert embarrassed emoji* and explained her corrections so I wouldn't make the same mistakes again. Then, she actually helped me go through MULTIPLE months of reconciliation (my fault for waiting so long to contact her). Finally, when the call was done, I was really afraid of the bill. We did take a long time since there was so much that needed to be done. I think my first call went a little over the hour interval. I thought she was going to charge me for another hour like other consultants do, but she prorated it! Literally to the decimal! That's absolutely so much more fair than other consultants. After the call, I told her my story of the terrible other consultant. I had to really give her a praise and told her how much I appreciated her patience, understanding, and professionalism. Pam is heaven sent. I went to Pam when my husband was first opening up his own business and I was tasked to do the bookkeeping. My husband and I started a new business just over a year ago, and I sincerely believe Pam was instrumental in getting us to the successful place we are today with her expertise. We knew nothing in the beginning. She has been our Quick Books "tutor", and with our many sessions together, all remotely, we've managed to learn how to run our business very efficiently, and correctly.
