I called into the office to explain the situation and asked to move our reservation up a day. They did not have any availability, which was fine, so I asked to cancel and they said not a problem. I asked specifically again if we would be charged and they said I would not be charged since I called in a few days before the scheduled arrival. Of course my card was charged and they later said they had no record of me trying to cancel, and that it was a non-refundable booking. That is exactly why I called to confirm before canceling and we would not have canceled if I knew I would be charged. Either incompetence or shady stuff. I'm now down $500 plus the other hotel we had to book. I understand it's a business but Was hoping we'd get a little more sympathy while dealing with our sick pup. Apparently not and will not be staying at Hotel McCoy ever again. Disappointing The Residence Inn in Pullman however was a great spot and was very accommodating.

We were guests at a wedding held here. It was a wonderful venue & a perfect beautiful day…read more The tabernacle / barn & the reception area held a large number of people. There were even a couple of little birds - maybe swallows flying around or sitting way up in the beams during the wedding that added a tiny chirp here & there that was a very neat addition. They brought in a wonderful caterer that our friends often use in CDA & they used the facilities kitchen & it looked like that all went well. The food was excellent. If it was mid to end May or later I think the outdoor area between the tabernacle & the indoor reception area would be perfect for an outdoor reception. The grounds are just beautiful. I was surprised at the number of small children - 1/2 or more of the number of adults to kids who found a variety of things to do so they kept busy the whole time & they really had a great time. There was a bouncy house & then at least 2-3 teens to organize outside games & it was the best family friendly wedding Ive been to since I was young. This was the first wedding I've been to where all the kids were fun to see & happy almost the whole time. Another thing about this venue... it was just about an hour drive from CDA. I don't like to drive but the drive was very easy & it was a beautiful drive the whole way. It was also easy to find. I would definitely recommend this place. I could see it find other uses besides weddings like maybe even birthday parties for any age especially young kids or Quinceaneras etc...

First impression upon arrival, nice motel, very close to campus. Clean, sparse rooms with just the…read morebasics. Walking distance to U of I but also in the heart of downtown. Nice shops and restaurants all around that you can stroll to. Free parking. Coffee maker, fridge, microwave, and hair dryer in room. We felt very safe for walking in the area at night. Lots of food choices nearby. After a sleep we determined that the bed comfort was good to ok. Pretty solid and firm mattresses with white sheets and a thin blanket. Good temp control in room. Not too hot but not cold. Best part was check in and check out via text is amazingly convenient. Cons: paper thin walls, so we can hear noise from other rooms. Plus the noisy traffic on Jefferson Street is very loud since it's a very, very busy street basically all day and night. Noted at 11pm there is still constant traffic swishing by. Super Thin windows with tissue paper thin blinds so there is absolutely no noise buffering. Could also hear music beats vibrating through walls. Sorry your ear plugs do not protect from music vibrations since there is no definitive sound but still can feel the beat while not hearing lyrics. I'm a heavy sleeper but woken up by this noise after several hours sleeping is too much! Then in the morning around 5:30 AM, the noise started through the walls again with the neighbor's bedside clock alarm going off . The in-room provided alarm clocks suck...as ours unexpectedly went off by 6am as well!!!!!! Plus we could hear the neighbor's voices through the walls word for word in the morning. An additional improvement suggestion that I think is very important for personal safety: the owners should install a deadbolt in addition to a single swing bar lock at the top of the door that they currently offer. Since this motel does remote check in via text their door locks are pin coded. It is very unsettling to think how little security the physical doors offer with a single swing lock inside. I would've felt much more secure inside the room if they also had a manual deadbolt above the door knob. Noted, this accommodation was much less expensive than other places in the area that were double what we paid here. Still we paid well over $200 on a Friday night. This is bottom tier lodging for sure but a trade off in saving money while being in an excellent location. Thankfully the streets in this area appear safe. Location is excellent for convenience but maybe not rest. Beware.

Sometimes they also have other snacks and/or an assortment of mini desserts. They announce these open houses/events on social media and it's pretty safe to assume they'll happen on Friday and/or Saturday when there's a WSU home football game, graduation, family weekend, etc. There's also usually at least one good spot for a photo and the employees are normally happy to take your family/group photo (using your phone/camera). They also have info/maps, places to sit, a coupon book for local businesses, wine bottles and some other items for sale, and bathrooms.

This B&B is the most fabulous place to stay! A friend and I stayed there earlier this week while on…read morea genealogy road trip, and we ended up staying an extra day. I'd still be there if that was possible. It's a huge house - and there is no sharing with other guests. If you book a stay, for example, for two people - you get the whole house to yourselves! The host and caretaker, Vicki Broekel, comes in the morning (at a time guests choose) and fixes a real farm breakfast right there in the cheery red and white kitchen with vintage decor. The beds are very comfortable and Vicki keeps the house very clean. The resident cat "Sis" is a welcome presence. A Great Horned Owl lives on the property and he's an amazing sight to see. (Apparently he and Sis have come to some sort of agreement, or she'd have been dinner long ago). The grounds are beautiful and the decor of the home fits with it's character and construction in the early 1900s. Wifi is free and there is excellent cell coverage. The TV is not HD and there are limited channels, but the best view is of the expanse of fields from the front porch swing. Several hundred horses are pastured across the road and it was lots of fun watching them. I just can't wait to go back. This is the kind of B&B that would serve as a perfect writer's retreat or a getaway with a goal of peace and quiet. Don't expect ongoing touristy "activities" in the area......this is prairie country, for farming and ranching and appreciating the beauty of "nothing but land and sky."
