Yes, Palolo Gym is a great place to develop your skills, conditioning and confidence. Come by and check it out and see if we're the right fit for you.

I used to train at kalakaua but stopped training for a couple years, i wanna get back in the groove and start my amateur boxing career. Is this the right gym for me?

I have been to lots of gyms on the island and I was reluctant to go to Planet Fitness for some…read morereason. But I finally came in and did a tour and the first impressions sold me. The staff was very friendly, and the gym was very clean! I never realize how much I appreciated a clean gym until every gym I went to was filthy. I like that there is a standard at this gym and people seem to be respectful of the equipment, also all the equipment is new and updated which is nice! No rusty , dusty machines! I enjoy the amenities of the black card and so far the members have been very respectful and not creepy like other gyms I've been to. I respect the policy of Planet Fitness. Just reading the comments on here and a x member giving a bad review saying they were kicked out for taking a photo of another member. After reading thus review, I am so grateful to be at a gym that holds people accountable, and protect other members of inappropriate behavior. I have experienced situations in other gyms where I did not feel safe and nothing happened so this is refreshing to read. A gym is not just about the equipment or working out , but it's also about feeling comfortable & safe in the community. Thank you! I'm happy to be apart of this community! Aloha

I honestly don't understand the point? almost everyone working out is already wearing headphones. The volume can make it hard to enjoy the workout. The gym itself is fine, but the music level really affects the overall experience. A fitness environment should feel motivating, not overwhelming. I hope management considers lowering the volume to create a more comfortable atmosphere for everyone.

I was at home on a Sunday afternoon, lying on the couch, procrastinating while watching TV, deciding whether or not to go to hit the gym that day. All of a sudden, this totally ripped, super cool looking Japanese guy appeared on this Spy Series television show, and I got immediately inspired and decided at that exact moment that I needed to stop procrastinating and get off the couch and go work out. I left the house and walked to the gym. I took the escalator up and as I got off at the top, I literally bumped into this totally ripped, super cool looking Japanese guy and realized that it was the same guy I had just seen on TV ! We have been friends ever since, and Bill has been my exclusive trainer since then. What I love about being trained by Bill is that he knows the importance of incorporating NEW things into your workout realm every few months. It has set the bar high for me every year of the thirteen that I have been blessed to call Bill my friend and Trainer. Bill was the first person I recall to ever say the words"kettle-bell" in Hawaii ! I am so grateful to him for always re-callibrating my whole program and way of thinking every few months since I started training under him. It keeps things from getting stale and routine and well... boring ! The body and brain really only respond and change when we give them new and challenging things to do, and in my opinion, no one teaches those principles while incorporating that theory through fresh and challenging training sessions better than Bil Maeda. Here we are all these years later, and Bill i s still inspiring me, as he did that day on TV, to get off that couch and get a great workout in every day !

I was first introduced to Bill Maeda, the man behind FitPro, two years ago by a good friend who had…read morebeen working out with Bill for several years. My first question to him was, "How can you have worked out the with same trainer for 3 years and not be bored?" My personal history is riddled with workout regimens that have come and gone because, in the end, they just get boring. Bill has kept things fresh for two years, with the goal of making me "unbreakable" -- strong and injury-free. We started with foundational exercises (push-ups, pull-ups, planks, step-ups, lunges, twisting core exercises, etc.) to make sure that I had a solid base of strength before moving on to more dynamic movements and heavier weights. At every step of the way, Bill focused on teaching strict form for every exercise. I share his belief that maintaining good form, with light or heavy weights, ensures that one gets the most out of every exercise and avoids injury. In the last two years, Bill has mixed in kettlebells (thruster, long cycle, snatch), traditional power lifting (squat, bench, deadlift), punching & kicking, sandbags, weighted swinging clubs, body weight movements, and a variety of isometric exercises. I participate in a variety of other sports and events (soccer, triathlons, obstacle races, endurance events), and Bill designs my workouts to help me prepare specifically for them.

I've continued attending group classes because working out has sort of become a habit, and regardless how I feel before class, I always leave the gym with a blank slate. Bad day? Go to the gym. Mentally exhausted? Go to the gym. Deciding whether to send that angry email? Go to the gym. The coaches are super chill and fun, as are the members. There's a program for every body and for every goal. My weight has not changed by much but my clothes are fitting a lot better than they did a year ago and I am stronger. Sometimes the coaches nudge me to take heavier weights but I like to "pace myself" haha! Parado Power is a clean (everyone wipes down their equipment) and bright and well-ventilated gym in a convenient location. Parking is plentiful (for the most part, depending on the time) and free with validation. Towels are provided and the water dispenser was upgraded not too long ago. First class is free; visit the website and sign up for a spot in group class!
