This is the absolute worst place to wash your vehicle. And not because of the faulty equipment, but because of the horrible, mean-spirited "manager," Raymond/Roland, not sure of his name but who I now know well because he was so busy screaming in my face. I pulled in around 7:30 a.m. and waited my turn to wash in the self-serve bay. Everything was going fine until I tried rinsing my car. The high pressure wouldn't work. I tried waving someone down, but the nearest attendants were at the drive-thru car wash. Luckily, one noticed and called another worker over. He wasn't sure what to do, so he said he'd get the manager. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The "manager," Raymond/Roland, had just gotten in line for the car wash himself, yes, in his personal vehicle. So I waited. I stood there while he went through the line, the wash, and the drying. After about 12 minutes, I figured he'd stop and address me. Nope... he drove right past me, parked at the vacuums, and went inside the service building.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I asked the attendant again if he knew I was waiting. He said yes and that he'd remind him. So I waited some more. Eventually the manager came over, and I explained the rinse, and anything after it, wasn't working. He tried using his Amex card, but it wouldn't work. I offered to put in quarters, but he said no. He then got frustrated and told me to move to the next bay. I obliged and moved, but again his card wouldn't work. I asked again if I could just use quarters, and it worked. Now even more frustreated, he tells me to hold on, so he could get quarters to help me. Well, he left and never came back. After waiting another 8 minutes, I finally decided to take the loss and put in my own quarters to rinse the dried soap off my car so I could move on with my morning. [[HIGHLIGHT]]As I was finishing, another attendant, who he later claimed was his wife, yelled at me to stop and move to another bay, across the lot where the "manager" was. I told her not to worry, I just wanted to finish and get on my way.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Right before my session ended, the manager came back up to me and told me to move again, this time to a third bay. I told him no, that I was already finished anyway, but I would appreciate a refund. That's when it turned ugly.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] When I asked for a refund, he said, "Well that's not gonna happen." I said, "Excuse me?" He snapped back, "I offered you a solution and you didn't listen." I told him I had already been waiting almost 30 minutes and couldn't delay my morning any longer. I asked again for a refund, and that's when he got angry and said I was being "itchy" (expletive). I said, "Excuse me. You don't talk to me like that." [[HIGHLIGHT]]He then turned to the attendant, his wife, and told her not to ever be a woman like me. I told him not to talk to her like that, because she wasn't involved. He yelled back, "I can talk to MY WIFE any way I want!"[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It only escalated from there. [[HIGHLIGHT]]He told me I needed to get a husband...insulted my "old, ugly" car, and said I should go home to my girlfriend.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I asked him why he would even go there, because I had a husband and I loved my car. [[HIGHLIGHT]]He then called me a fat "itch," refused the refund again, and said he was calling the police.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I asked, "Why? Because your ego is hurt? Or because of your own unhealthy stature that looks like you're 10 months pregnant?" I told him he was a coward who couldn't handle a strong woman and could only resort to cussing and insulting a woman's appearance. [[HIGHLIGHT]]He then got in my face, spitting as he yelled, and told me to "get the expletive off this property, or I'm calling the police."[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] He and his wife pulled out their phones to record, so I walked to my car and grabbed mine too. That's when he grabbed his wife by the arm and started walking away. He told me I wasn't getting a refund unless I called the cops. I told him, "I thought you said you were calling them." He ignored me and kept walking, hiding behind his wife. I yelled after him that he was a coward who couldn't even be man enough to talk to a woman, and that's why he was running away. He just laughed and walked off. Never, ever go to this place. He is horrible. And to make matters worse... I left my bag of quarters on the payment station ledge in the bay I was moved to and they refuse to return it. read more

This place is close to my house so I use it a lot. My dog loves it too. (Insert sarcastic font here) I lucked out the other day after my wash and was able to zip right into the vacuum station. It's usually jammed. I got the most expensive wash today. My car was pretty dirty. I don't know how they know what I ordered or if I really got all of the things it said but what do I know?!? [[HIGHLIGHT]]Manager is shady and has poor customer service.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] A few weeks back their cleaning spray that they offer complimentary to clean the inside of the car had stripped the tint off the inside of my windows. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I notify an employee passing by and immediately they start blaming me for it saying that my tint was already like that.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I ask to speak with the manager and he doubles down on the blame game even though I showed him in real time that the spray started making the tint flake off.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] After about 10min of going back and forth with these people he agrees to pay for the tint of one window, I compromised because I was over arguing with these goons. [[HIGHLIGHT]]He gives me his card with his cell phone on it and wrote a note that said "call me when you need a replacement tint" and then says give me a call when your at the tint shop and we will take care of it.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]So I go to the tint shop and the dude answers the phone, realizes it's me and hangs up. Then proceeds to not answer my calls anymore. I tried 3 different times to get ahold of him while at the tint shop.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] These guys are lame af. And I wouldn't give my business to them. I've been a member of this car wash for almost a year and you can't beat it for the price. It's about 32 bucks a month for the membership, which allows unlimited car washes in a month, but of course only one per day. Membership also includes self service, vacuums and detailing equipment. There's typically not much of a wait unless there it is prime time which is morning on the weekends. It's also very close to a number of shops on Brodie as well as Whole Foods and Central market so it's easier to work this into any errand that I am running so I get my moneys worth. read more

I absolutely love this place. I drive past several other car wash options just to get to this one -- because, trust me, it's worth it. I made the mistake of trying a cheaper, quicker option once and ended up with a significant scratch in my paint, so I've learned my lesson! This spot offers a drive-through with several menu options depending on how much you're looking to spend. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The staff are great -- often rushing over to operate the kiosk for you, making everything quicker and easier.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]One time, the staff even went as far as shutting down the entire drive-through mechanism to look for a "Student Driver" magnet that fell off because I forgot to remove it before entering the drive-through. They go above an beyond![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Just be aware that it can get pretty busy on weekends, so plan accordingly. The best part? The free vacuums after the wash. They even provide spray bottles and microfiber cloths which for me, is absolute heaven. I love spending a good 45 minutes going over every detail of my car, so I try to avoid the busiest times to make sure I'm not encroaching upon someone else's opportunity. They also offer compressed air guns for getting dust out of all the little crevices, and in the self-serve area, they even have a hand-held drying device so you can blow-dry your car. Brilliant! The cars look really good, the guys are who did the work were polite and friendly and let me tell you, the customer service from Roland the Manager TOP NOTCH, super fantastic! My usual car wash was closed today, but that turned out to be a good thing because I tried Palms Car Wash for the first time. What a great experience! I entered the property and drove up to a menu where there are several levels of car washes to select from (I picked an $11 wash). I paid with my credit card and then pulled forward to a pre-wash area where a few attendants sprayed my car with foam before it rolled through the automatic car wash. This was my first time through an automatic car wash in this (fairly new) car, and the sensors were on overload with the beeping! I finally found a way to turn them off, but I still had a fear that the automatic braking system would engage before I exited. Thankfully, that fear was unfounded. Whew. I was then directed to a shaded area where 3 attendants quickly dried the exterior. If you want the inside vacuumed (which I did), you do it yourself in another area. There are stations fitted with vacuum hoses as well as very handy high-pressure air hoses to clear out any dust and/or debris. Terry cloth towels were available as well as paper towels and glass cleaner. Help yourself! It couldn't have been easier. Palms Car Wash has everything from bays where you spray wash your own car to detailing services. I will definitely be looking into their unlimited car wash packages. My second time going and using the automatic car wash. I paid for the platinum this time .once I left the property and stopped at Culver's to get me something to eat . I noticed I did not get my tire shine Plus the back of my vehicle was not wiped dry .idk how they know what I paid for but seems like they did not know I paid for a platinum wash . I can tell if they open at 7, 8 or 9 or 10. I think some days they just open late or something. Its inconvenient for me but I can over look it. The customer service at this place is phenomenal. It's never failed me ever since I've been going here in 2016. And the fact that this particular location offers the self-cleaning (vacuum, towels, etc) station at no extra cost is incredible, and I'm surprised they haven't increased their prices with inflation. Everyone from the managers/supervisors, to the employees washing and towel drying does their job sincerely and well. I don't live on this side of town anymore, but it's the only place in Austin I go to for car washes. Best car wash in South Austin! I've been coming here for 10 years and never been disappointed. Sometimes on Fridays it is a little bit busy and you have to wait in line but other than that there are so many free vacuum stalls and car wash stalls that it can even take a heavy load on Friday on a sunny day after a rain The detailing is also a great deal and for only $20 they will wash and hand dry your vehicle. I went to palms this morning for a car wash and detail on my Ford Explorer that had just returned from the coast on vacation with the family and 2 dogs. Needless to say there was an abundance of sand and dog hair inside the suv. I swear I think every crevice had sand and hair in it. After detaining the suv is beautiful inside and out. The car wash was $13 and the detail $45 and it was all done within in hour while I waited in the comfortable waiting area. I recommend you go early and not on the weekends. I signed up for the monthly membership, however, doubt I will be keeping it. 1) If you've never been here before, good luck trying to figure out which lane you're supposed to be in and where to go once going through the carwash. It's very, very confusing. 2) I work for tips too, but NEVER IN MY LIFE have I stared at someone in the eye, expecting them to tip me, and/or stopped doing my job because someone handed the tip to another person. (Handed the $5 bill to the girl out my driver's window.) As soon as I did, the drying on the right hand side of my car, ceased. Damn! I wanted towels to finish the job myself. I was pointed towards a "red car." It turned out this was NOT the area where I was supposed to be, rather the area where the employees carry out full-service car wash detailing. I tried to go to the area where there were towels and vacuums for customers to use. There were no spots available, and due to the lack of proper navigation, (i.e. where to go when wash is done), there were people coming from different directions. Everyone was mad and honking. I've been going to the drive-through at the Palms on Brodie for the better part of the last 6 years... its the only car wash I go to because it's convenient and affordable but I've never had a familiarity with any of the staff, I just drive through then use the cleaning stations and leave. Anyway, a couple of months ago, I started to notice some tree sap on my car and thought it would wash off but it never did and eventually got so bad that I took it to Palms to ask their detailing center if an Express Wax might be a good option to get it off or if I needed full exterior detailing service. I had gotten my car washed just the week before but Crystal asked me to go through the wash for the Ceramic Plus wash for free just so she could see exactly what we were working with. This impressed me because I hadn't committed to using their service yet and I had just gotten their most expensive drive-through wash for free! She then handed me over to Liz and I think their boss (?) who said I needed a buff and polish to take the gunk out and seal the paint to minimize further issues. Liz ends up quoting me on the low end of what the guy guessed she would quote me and then he gave me an additional discount. All pleasantly surprising! Now, the job took over 5 hours and it still wasn't all done but not only did Liz ask me to come back in a couple of weeks to get it done again, she cleaned my fog lights, had my carpets and the inside of my of my car cleaned and removed the oxidation on all of my car glass. I cannot express enough gratitude or recommend this place enough. Even if I never go back to get the job finished (I will lol), I feel like I definitely got way more than what I paid for. After today, I'm guaranteed to never, ever use another car wash in Austin again. read more

Opened my reliable Yelp app. and found Palms Car Wash and the reviews I trusted made the choice easy. The crew is friendly and love the work they did. I paid about $75 for a wash and wax (mini-detail) and they did everything from the wash, the tires, the wax and a very thorough interior cleaning. The store and waiting area is nice and having the option to sit inside on hot days is comforting. The service is worth the money and it is a little on the $$$ side. I always get the basic b*tch wash and it's like $8 dollars to make you hollar!! Then you get some guys that dry you off after your car gets a good old fashion blow job. Palms is the best car wash in town- affordable and effective drive through wash with hand towel dry and free vacuums when you get a wash. They've always been awesome but today my experience was exceptional and I had to share. While vacuuming my car I accidentally locked my keys inside my car (I must've hit the inside door lock with the vacuum because this should be impossible with my key). While I was waiting for roadside assistance to arrive an employee at Palms named Craig was able to unlock my car for me in about two minutes! What a nice guy- totally went above and beyond to help me out and expected absolutely nothing in return. Craig's boss, if you read this I hope you give that guy a raise! If your car is more than minimally dirty or if you have pets- beware the up charges! I pull into the drive through car wash and explain I just want a detail today and ask if the wait is bad- she grimaces and says it's not good. I ask for an estimated time cause I'm prepared to wait for a reasonable amount of time- she goes and asks and tells me only 30 minutes - great, that sounds super doable to me. Then it's all downhill from here: she asks if I have pet hair: I do and she asks if it's bad, and I say I guess so because honestly I have two Aussies and there's definitely a good amount of dog hair in my back seat (which is a big reason I'm willing to pay someone to do this because vacuuming dog hair out of the car in the summer when your 8 months pregnant is no fun). So she goes "okay the charge will be $35" to which i happily agree and initially I thought that's for the whole service, but then she says "okay good, I'm glad you came prepared for the extra charge". Well, that's disappointing because the base charge for the detail (which includes vacuum, console wipe down, and window cleaning) is $40. But I don't protest because I really don't want have the time or energy to deep clean my car. Then I make sure to speak up about my trunk- they have signs everywhere that say trunks can be vacuumed on request- and I have a hatchback so I guess it's a trunk? I tell her I would like that done as well because I spilled some dirt after a trip to Home Depot. Another $10 charge comes along. And yeah I agreed still because I don't treat myself to this service but once a year and I just want it done already. So I get back in my car after swiping my card to pull out of the car wash lane and go park it by the detail area. She hands me the receipt and peeks in my car and goes something like "oh wow that's a lot of dog hair! I may have to charge you more..." and I say- "I sure hope not because you've already charged me double." She backs down and says something to the effect of "we'll see what they say...". She says she'll meet me over there. She does not- I go park my car then walk back over to the car wash station where she's standing and give her my keys and then walk back across the lot to the lobby to wait. It takes about 30 minutes for them to start my car, and about 30 minutes for them to finish. I took before and after pics. And even though I agreed to these charges I walked away feeling dumb. Yes, I knew I was willing to pay $40 for someone else to do a chore I didn't want to do, but was it really worth $85 to have someone spend 30 minutes to vacuum and wipe my car? Was the dog hair really that outrageous? Not really. Was my car extra soiled? I don't think so- it was dirty enough for me to pay someone to do it (my cup holders were def sticky and I'm sure there were a few lost fries under my seats) but it's not like there was rotten food, bugs, or poop smashed in the seats or something wild like that. Did they have to spend a really long time getting the job done? Def not- they spent 30 minutes on my car. All in all- to me this was overpriced and I'm just not satisfied.
