Visited Palmeras for the first time in years! What a change! They have decorated with new furniture, beautiful hand painted murals and table clothes imported from the old country. The food has always have authentic and excellent! Today I ordered lenqua and barbecued beef tacos. Both served with salsa, cilantro and onions were very tasty. A side of Mexican bean, tricked out with sour cream and salsa was great. Finished with a sweet rice drink for the road! Don't miss this wonderful spot in Cresent C

Family owned and family ran are important parts to a successful restaurant and the efforts to serve the very best should never be taken lightly, especially when it comes to authentic Mexican food. Throw in some old handed down family recipes and years of preparing and perfecting this kind of cuisine and you're in for a real treat like we experienced during our visit to Palmeras'. The food here is simple as it should be, not over-whelmed with cheese and sauces, not prepared hours ahead of time and certainly not processed or pre-packaged. This place is like being invited into someone's home, no fancy elegantly prepared tables or uniformed wait staff, when you eat here you're served food freshly prepared by the family served by members of the family and that's one combination that's tough to beat anywhere. We chose the Barbacoa and Carne Asada Tacos, served on fresh made warm corn tortillas with onion and cilantro with a homemade spicy salsa on the side with an ice cold cane sugar 10 oz Coca-Cola in the bottle. I really wanted to experience the culture and go with one of my favorites the Goat Taco but unfortunately they were out of it. If your in the area and want real food from people who understand their native culture stop in and experience a little bit of the past. I know this will be my favorite stop when visiting Crescent City going forward...

Stopped in on a whim...What a find! Fresh homemade salsa and homemade tortilla chips greeted us upon arrival. I ordered the menudo, the traditional soup made with tripe, pigs feet and hominy swimming in a spicy red broth that is usually reserved to cure a hangover. It was absolutely delicious and served with onions, jalapenos and limes along with fresh corn tortillas that were yummy enough to be a meal unto themselves if they had been served with butter. Lucky for me they were not and I was able to concentrate on each delicious spoonful of my meal. In my experience, if the menudo is good, then everything else is as well. This menudo was the bomb and I am eagerly planning a return visit to sample other menu items.

Lovely food and service. This is a great Mexican restaurant because they don't put plastic cheese all over your food like a loot of other Mexican restaurants. You can tell it's good because Mexicans are eating there!

This is an awesome place to grab a bite cheap price and good food, as well as good variety and customization options.

This family owned and run restaurant is easy on your pocketbook but is amazingly attentive and the food is delicious, because mom's in the kitchen sharing generations of home style cooking. We chose to sit inside due to the extreme humidity outside, but there is a beautiful outdoor patio also available - this is a simple restaurant but after only a moment here you'll feel comfortable and welcomed, it's like family serving family. After ordering our drinks, warm chips and a bowl of perfectly balanced salsa was brought out before placing our lunch order - everything is cooked to order so although the wait time is reasonable they don't rush things here everything is made to order and one bite into their freshly made corn tortillas you won't care because time will stop as you savor all the freshly prepared goodness. The food, well I didn't try everything but then again after a healthy sampling I can't imagine anything served here falls below the description of outstanding. The tacos are amazing, again served open face on those delicious warm homemade corn tortillas, they are filled with your choice of meats including steak, pork, chicken, shrimp, beef tongue, goat, etc.or a medley of grilled veggies if that's your thing - all are topped with freshly chopped onion and cilantro. This can be paired with delicious homemade beans and rice and an amazing radish salad concoction. We also enjoyed a delicate pork tamale (so good) and a cheesy enchiladas (exceptional) - we cleaned our plates and was looking for a shady spot to grab a siesta. We are camping in the area and we will definitely be returning here over the next ten days and anytime we are close to this area in the future- this is one of those places that you must experience if given the opportunity...
