There were two spots where he said his crew could do the work, but said it would be really easy for me to do in a couple hours to save some money. Which I really appreciated him not up selling me. Then I received the bid the next day. After we went into contract his team showed up and started the work. It was started on Monday and pouring concrete on Saturday. They were great to work with and respected our house. What I especially appreciated was the care they took to ensure nothing around the house was damaged. This was a pleasant experience and I would recommend SK Concrete to anyone for their big or small project.

Shafiaq Khouli and his SK Concrete team built on our back yard a 14' x 14' SPA niche including a…read more12' x 12' x 5" reinforced concrete pad, foundation, drainage, three sides surrounding half high retaining walls and embedded SPA electrical wiring conduit. They also installed footing drain (French drain) on the back retaining wall, backfilled with the usual gravel, crushed stone and covered the outside of the walls with installed paneled stone veneer. They also did the initial former structure demolition, debris hauling and the requested earth moving and other necessary small retaining walls reassembly. It sounds like an easy simple job but, believe me, it got complicated quite soon. Along the construction way, I was able to interact with the crew and bounce ideas and corrections which were followed to my customer satisfaction, resulting in more than a very acceptable final product. When the inevitable, beyond his control, the one odd crew helper misbehavior occurred on the job, this contractor immediately corrected it, got on top of the problem and smoothly and quickly we had no more of an issue here. He also facilitated for me the customer to bring my own tile / stone wall-caps products and installer guys, which ended doing a beautiful job we're very proud of. Pricing fair, not inexpensive. Job done acceptable, with your own (the customer) continuous supervision and being able to stop working crew's irreparable mistakes before they happened, however, the final product came out well built and functional as we imagined and expected, we are grateful for that. Thanks again to Shafiaq and SK Concrete for accepting working on our small home project and for including us in their busy commercial and industrial schedule.

The estimate was a great price and he didn't have minimums like other contractors. They prepped everything on Thursday. They always kept the place clean. We liked the ideas the architect offered but not the cost as quoted by the contractor the architect referred us to. So we decided to contract our own specialists - act as our own general contractor. SD Paverscapes was one of three paver contractors we contacted. Luis was quick to respond and listened to our ideas. He provided us with a plan we loved and a price we could handle. The installation crew was absolutely first rate. It was a pleasure to watch craftsmen apply their skills! The result is fabulous! Honestly, it turned out better than we had imagined! As with ALL contractors, you - as the client - need to always be communicating with Luis. We made slight modifications to our original plan as the work progressed, but they all were fine because we were in constant dialog with Luis.

I was given an excellent variety of bricks/blocks to choose for the wall, and the one I chose was competently installed. I was pleased to note the block I chose would be sourced from RCP in Chula Vista, where I have been a regular customer. The two workers agreed to relocate the existing pavers for my reuse as part of the original job. I really appreciated that. Although I was in no hurry, the job was completed quite expeditiously with the exception of the iron gate, the installation of which was subcontracted (and reviewed separately). The final results please me immensely. A&F solved a major problem, and I recommend the company to all.

What impressed me is that Dean and Robert took both and made them better, using their real knowledge of how concrete works. The control joints are placed right, they put in real drainage with actual drains and grading built throughout, and it looks clean and classy without being overdone. Flatwork around the entire house, driveway, front yard, backyard, both sides, fencing, gates. Did they get everything perfect on the first pass? Almost. What separates them is that when something was off, they owned it completely. No excuses, no pushback, just fixed. They paid attention to details that other contractors I quoted either missed entirely or only caught after I nudged them. Dean caught everything without me saying a word. Every day at the end of their shift they cleaned up and secured the site, even when it wasn't convenient. Robert ran a tight field operation and cared about every detail like his reputation depended on it. I have a young kid at home and that told me everything about who these guys are. I had my own engineer come out and review the work on-site. He looked around and said, unprompted, "You've got a great crew here." Engineers don't hand out compliments. That meant something. These guys come from commercial construction and brought that level of expertise to a residential job without going overkill. I actually spotted their truck at another client's property. Here's my honest take: if my mom needed this much work done and I couldn't be there to check in, I would still trust Dean to make sure she was taken care of. That's the highest thing I can say.

A JOB WELL DONE We…read morehave a long concrete driveway that curves up a hill to our home. The driveway is 47 years old and was in need of repairs to the driveway and to replace a low curved concrete wall on one side of the driveway, which was badly damaged by time and a large truck. From the Yelp website, I selected 3 five-star contractors for bids to repair the driveway. I'm in my late eighties and handicapped, but in my younger days I worked in construction starting back in 1952 as an apprentice carpenter. I have worked on many projects where I built forms to pour concrete for homes, high rise buildings, and underground tunnels. I have also worked on cementing casing in oil wells as deep as two miles and I have personally poured and finished concrete at my own home. So needless to say, I know a lot about concrete and construction in general. Now that I'm too old and crippled up to work, I'm always apprehensive when I have to hire men to work for me. All too often you get people who lack the skill and experience to do a proper job and often, they don't care how the job turns out. Then they leave behind a mess for the homeowner to clean up. When Oswaldo Minez came to look the job over prior to submitting a bid, I was very impressed with his knowledge and attitude. He told me he was the son of a father and son business and that was my background as well until my father's early death at a young age. The bid from Minez Concrete was the lowest bid and I gave them the contract. A few days later they called to say they had an unscheduled delay in their next job and they could begin work at our home. Oswaldo said they would show up at 7 AM and to my surprise the crew arrived right on time and every day thereafter. Oswaldo's father, Ramon is in charge of the actual work and I could tell right from the start that Ramon is an old school craftsman. He has trained his crew to be competent workers. Too often companies in southern California show up with a boss, who doesn't know what he is doing, and untrained men hired to work by the day. Not the Minez Company, their men are professional workers, who know their craft. On several occasions I have hired people and had to stand there all day making sure the job was done right and sometimes pitching in myself to do the job. After watching the Minez crew for a short time, I knew we were in good hands and I went back into the house. Every time I came out to observe progress there was Ramon supervising his men while working beside them to give us a first-rate job. The repairs all turned out beautifully and several people have commented upon how nice the driveway looks. To be honest, I wasn't expecting the work to go so smoothly and quickly. It was such a surprise and relief to be treated so well with a beautiful result. Oswaldo kept us informed regarding progress and his suggestions and those of Ramon contributed greatly to the final outcome. If you want a first-class experience at a fair price then hire Minez Concrete. They know what they are doing and they do the job right for a fair price. In today's world, that is rare.

Powerhouse wasn't the first company we called, nor were they the cheapest -- but we got an immediate sense from the owner Jack when he did the initial walkthrough and bid that we would be in good hands if we went with them to replace both the driveway and garage flooring. I think it is the up-front and transparent manner in which Jack approaches his business. He let us know up front all potential pitfalls, gave us a wealth of information about types of concrete, and even told us up-front that our original choice of Pavers had the potential to cost us more in the long run. Well-informed, we decided to go with stamped concrete with rebar, and within a week the jackhammers were knocking all the old stuff out. His workers were friendly, efficient and finished in a week. We are extremely happy with the end result, the customer service rendered, and value we received for the product. Our neighbors can't stop raving about the end result, and we are incredibly happy as well!

Browsing through Yelp, I came upon Best Gates and Fencing and saw that they averaged 4.8 Yelp reviews. I read many of the reviews and perused the photos of the different fence projects they had done, and I was impressed with their work. I contacted the company and got a quick response from Miguel, the owner, to set up an appointment for an estimate. After meeting with Miguel, I gave him an idea of what I had in mind, and he took accurate measurements of my property. Miguel gave me estimates on the use of different materials: wood, aluminum, galvanized steel and vinyl. After giving Miguel a budget I could work with, he presented me the options of using natural premium redwood (stained and sealed) with powder coated galvanized steel posts. Miguel was very easy to work with, and I like how he offered his input to further enhance my vision of what I wanted. Miguel is very efficient, along with his coworker, and he takes great pride in providing a quality product. He always kept me in the loop regarding each work phase, and was quick to address any of my questions. Best Gates and Fencing does not rush their jobs. For my project, they work in phases, and it was great to see my fence project come to life, so to speak. In the end, I was extremely in awe of the transformation Best Gates and Fencing provided. I have received numerous compliments on the fence, and I feel like I have the best fence in the neighborhood. If you have a fence project or repair in mind, do not deviate away from Best Gates and Fencing. In my opinion, they are THE BEST!

I reached out to a few vendors, and Coughlin was by far the most helpful and informative. The whole process went smoothly, Kevin was very friendly and easy to work with; he provided the most information on what type of windows to get for our situation. He was very responsive and answered any questions we had. They also had very reasonable prices and detailed quotes. My husband told me on the day of installation, they were punctual, efficient and completed the window replacements on time. We got Simonton laminated double paned windows, and although they haven't blocked out as much sound as I hoped, they actually help a good deal with lowering hot temperatures in that room in the summer. It's been about a year and the windows still look great and work well (they're also much easier to slide open than our old windows). I would definitely recommend them!

If I could give Palm Construction a rating of 1000 out of 10 I would! From the onset of planning the exterior stucco renovation of my 3500 sq. ft. home (which included prep around new windows, brown coat, two applications of Santa Barbara finish stucco and two coats of paint on the stucco/eaves/fascia/brick planter boxes), to the final walk through, Palm Construction communicated regularly, kept us informed every step of the process and delivered a quality product! We met with Lee Trabelsi in February. During this initial consultation, Lee was highly professional, extremely knowledgeable, friendly and exceptionally focused on answering all of our questions in easily understood terms. Based on our goals, he identified a timeline that would work within our schedules. While Lee took the lead in orchestrating the various crews, they all showed up in advance of the time given for daily arrival and worked with efficiency and attention to detail. Additionally, I sincerely appreciated how they cleaned up at the end of each day, greatly admiring their work ethic. The scope of this project was something I had not ventured into before, so throughout the process, Lee encouraged me to text him with any of my questions/concerns. He responded often within an hour and if I asked for a meeting, he gladly met me early in the morning, prior to my having to leave for work. Lee's customer service was exemplary! I want to recognize Diego, Antonio in particular, who were part of the "genius craftsman" that gave me the smooth finish I requested and actually went above and beyond my expectations. They eased my concerns by first doing a "test wall", which to my amazement, was perfect! Despite weather challenges, Palm Construction kept our agreed completion date. Seeing people take such pride in their work is sometimes rare in today's society; I would without reservation recommend Palm Construction! My original fence had begun to collapse into my yard from my neighbors yard, in part due to the way the original retaining wall was constructed. It was designed so that it veered off at an angle 6 feet before reaching the back fence. My neighbor and I built, a cedar fence that extended all the way to the back fence. The original cedar fence stood strong for almost 20 years until the termites found the post. The rest is history, as I've stated above. After almost another 15 years I decided enough is enough. Enters Anji and one of their many contractors, Palm construction, field supervised by Mr Guy Gilboa and his magnificent team of professional builders. Their job was to extend the retaining wall before I installed a new fence. First, Mr Gilboa, Myself, My Wife and My neighbor agreed on a price we were all comfortable with to complete the project. Second, I was not disappointed with the final results of the project. The wall looks amazing. Third, it's apparent, by the way the builders went about their task, that Mr Gilboa and Palm Construction hire not only professionals but the best professionals for their projects. The builder's teamwork enabled them to complete the project quickly and efficiently with superior results. The wall was beautifully done. Finally, a lot of credit for this project must go to Mr Gilboa, "the Rocky Balboa of construction". He was courteous, knowledgable, considerate and seemly, a superb business man. It was a real pleasure dealing with and working with him. More importantly, he finally knows who Roger is, when I reply to him, "Roger that". Overall, an exceptional experience. We recently completed several home improvement projects with Palm Construction, and we couldn't be happier with the results. From start to finish, the entire experience was professional, organized, and stress-free. Our project manager, Avi, was outstanding. He checked in with us regularly, made multiple site visits throughout the project, and always took the time to ensure we were happy with the progress. His communication was excellent, and we truly appreciated how involved he remained at every step. One of Avi's best recommendations was suggesting paving stones instead of a traditional concrete slab for the area behind our garage, where we're preparing for a future jacuzzi. It turned out beautifully and was exactly the right solution for our space. The highlight of the project, however, is the custom floor-to-ceiling bookcases they built for our family room. After meeting with 5-6 different backyard renovation companies, we ultimately chose Palm Construction because their reviews consistently stood out and now we completely understand why. From start to finish, the experience exceeded our expectations. Avi, our project manager, was exceptional throughout the entire process. He kept us informed every step of the way, checked in during every phase of the project, and made sure every question we had was addressed immediately. His communication, professionalism, and attention to detail made the entire experience feel seamless and stress-free. He was seriously so kind and thoughtful. Mateo and Giovanni were equally incredible. They were kind, hardworking, efficient, and genuinely cared about the quality of their work. Hi. My husband and I would like to tell you about a lawn remodel we recently had. The company is called Palm Construction and the contractor who guided us is Jonathan Yosifon. I can honestly say Jonathan made the experience so effortless by guiding us every step of the way. Answering every question, and offering suggestions when we were stuck. With decisions and choices made, Jonathan arranged for the work to begin. We thought two or three days at least, but to our surprise and pleasure the entire yard was completed in one day, start to finish and it look's AMAZING. Palm Construction was great to work with from start to finish! Ronen, the project manager, was constantly on top of things and communicated with us throughout the entire process. On days where Ronen was at another site, his assistant Victor was sure to come to our property and make sure nothing skipped a beat, he was great as well! The foreman, Erik, was very helpful and made sure each detail was to our liking. The total project was exterior house paint (3 colors), pavers in multiple parts of our "keystone" backyard, beautiful pet friendly turf on the other parts. We also had rain gutters installed around the entire house which look great and really make the trim colors pop! They also installed a gorgeous 150'+ retaining wall from one end of our property to the other. I decided to go with Shay and Palm Construction to remodel my front door steps and second floor back deck. The crew (Arturo and Alberto mostly) worked through a September/October Santa Ana heat wave in the sun with temperatures in the high nineties to 100 degrees. Also, they worked around a garage door and security system installations. From the huge posts to the finest detail, they repaired and replaced the supporting structure under the deck. I feel assured when walking on my deck now. The crew, Shay and Matthew (quality assurance) kept me advised on the daily progress. We recently completed a large paver/planter box project in our backyard and it is absolutely beautiful. Ben was our project manager and he made sure everything was perfect. This company takes the most amount of money for the least amount of work . Anytime they come Out you feel they will try to talk you out of the work you want so that it cost them less to perform . I was impressed with reviews and so I decided to hire them . Unfortunately all the work they do or don't do needs to be fixed by other companies at your expense of course . They don't do any of the work but hire day laborers . Which makes sense once you see the results . Pictures will follow . They show up unannounced and harass you . I told them many times I cannot meet and they just knocked on my door . Final straw was they ask you to sign a Survey and give all 5 stars . I did so under duress just to get them out of my house . Back on January 26th 2023, a major Santa Ana wind event brought down a massive eucalyptus tree, destroying the deck off the back off our home. Insurance sent three recommendations but we were not impressed and decided to research our own contractor. I hired this company for a basic home renovation project and it turned into a nightmare. From the start, they bombarded me with aggressive telemarketing calls. I should've seen that as a red flag. Their "free estimate" came in at double what other contractors quoted me, but they pressured me hard into signing. I regret giving them any information, because after that, I started getting non-stop spam calls clearly they sold my data. The work they did was sloppy, delayed, and way over budget. When I questioned the charges, they gave vague answers and blamed "unexpected costs." I had to bring in another company to fix their mess. Save yourself the stress--do not trust this company. There are trivial things that were less than excellent, but I negated it as they are small items and were corrected. Cost adherance- The final cost per the contract was right on including billing terms. Communication-The project manager (Tony) was very responsive, very easy to contact/ talk to. They answered the call right away, told me they'd get back to me with a date for an estimate. Danny's son came for the estimate and we got the quote the same evening. Work scheduled for the following week. Day 1: Showed up early and demo was started. Day 2: Showed up early and demo/grading/side form complete. Day 3: Rebars and concrete pour completed. I hired Leon Design & Build for a concrete fence and gate project and expected the work to be…read moreplanned and completed according to the written scope. That did not happen. The project began without any workable preconstruction plan developed by Leon Design & Build, and the supervisor arrived without the written layout plan I expected for a job of this size. The contract was never formally revised to reflect the changes that occurred during construction. Several parts of the project did not match the written scope, including the following: The fence height did not meet the contracted requirement at any point along the fence line, footing forms were not used as specified, and the gate work did not match the contract in size, materials, and finish. When I raised the issues and later requested a refund or credit, I received a partial settlement offer well below my already itemized fair demand, and it also included non-disclosure language I was not willing to accept. I am posting this so others have a factual account of my experience.
