My sister got the bo kho with the french bread and she liked it. I would get the avocado smoothie; it's not too sweet. My sister got the Vietnamese coffee. Came in during low traffic time around 4 or 5. Was greeted immediately by one of the two waitresses. The waitress seemed surprised I wanted a menu so I can only assume most of the customers at this come in for drinks, the view, and to watch whatever sports are on tv. Games weren't that great. Stopped by after tailgating on Sunday, October 23rd around 2pm. We started with a group of 3, but that slowly grew to a group of 8+. We decided to sit in the outside patio while watching the 49ers' game. We basically just drank beers. Mainly Stella Artois, Blue Moon, and Heineken. Later we ordered some French fries to sop up all the alcohol. Since we sat outside, we didn't enjoy the scenery as much, but all the waitresses were friendly. And easy on the eyes as well. I came here for the Passionfruit Lemonade and I thought it was really good. Seeds are optional and even though you're getting fresh fruit by keeping the seeds, I feel like it adds a weird texture to the drink. It's been over a year and I decided to give this place a second try to see if they've improved. And they certainly did not. In fact, it's worst than before. 99% of everyone smokes here; either regular, rolled up, or vape, the entire place was smokey to the point it stung my eyes. I had to quickly finish my diabetic fruit cocktail within five mins to get the heck out of here. Unless you're a smoker yourself, you won't enjoy this place. Good improvement on the menu by adding alcohol and bar foods. As for the girls, they all need to do not squats. And perhaps don't wear those clear heels? Except we're not here for Shaking Beef...we're here for shaking T&A (that joke sounded better in person.) And while there were 4-5 perfectly hot women working, we rarely saw them. Ladies, you don't have to smile or make polite conversation (though that wouldn't hurt), but walk around like your tips depend on it (because they do.) As awesome as the TVs, shaking beef, Vietnamese iced coffee/smoothies are, your customers could give a damn about all-a that, we're here to see you (obviously.) 1st time at a coffee shop in norcal. 2 servers. Lots of big TVs. Avocado smoothie good, top with whipped cream, that was new to me. I also had the sandwich ($5). The pork was a little greasy but still it was a good sandwich. They serve beer which is also not common in socal. Corona, Bud, or Heineken. I don't normally drink those brands but when in Rome, order a corona. It takes like a Corona but I can't hold that against Wave :). Overall good experience. Best coffee shop as of April 2017 Wave stands out to be one of the better coffee shop for various reasons. 1) Accommodating menu. coffee, beer, and food all in one stop. Not much to comment on the food but it's good enough... 2) Amazing technology. 6 4K tv, 3 each side. While two of them are wasted with looping the favor of the month, the rest are always showing espn or whatever that's interesting. Blazing fast wifi. Trust me, I had some very productive studying done in this place. 3) Efficient infrastructure. Parking is ez-pz. Ramps are low enough for your stanced Honda Civic, lanes are spaced enough that no one will ding you. The hallway style layout gives you the best views no matter where you sit. In Wave cafe, all the seats are good seats. 4) Strong marketing. Do you know instagram is amazing? Wave cafe does. 5) superior customer service. Your tea will always be topped off, waiters are constantly doing something and the counter is not super tall so you don't feel intimated when you pay the bill. This place is A-OK. read more

This place is the ultimate cure for hangovers!!! I come here for the food and the food alone. I usually get the Banh Mi combination platter ( I forgot the real name sorry) but it's basically a deconstructed banh mi. THAT'S ACTUALLY VIETNAMESE AND GOOD. None of the Americanized deconstructed BS. It comes with a blob of pate, Vietnamese mayo, cha lua, lap xuong, hot links, 2 sunny side up eggs, cucumbers, pickled daikon/carrot, special sauce and warm toasted bread. You can't tell me that isn't a match in heaven for a hungover girl. The only sad part that I don't like about this place is the parking and sometimes they burn my lap xuong ): I've come here every time when I can actually get out of bed for breakfast when hungover. I didn't understand what "Vietnamese coffee" meant. I've had Single origin, French, Italian, pour over, etc however it turns out that "Vietnamese coffee" entails scantily clad presumably attractive women serving coffee and perhaps sitting and chatting. This was unexpected and not a service I have any interest in, but I will do my best to review it in the spirit of it's intended role. Environment has some cool water sculptures, several nice TVs, and I guess Keno/Mega touch machines. Coffee is mediocre at best (not worthwhile), service is slow (seemly very burdensome for the girls), girls look like they hate life and despise the customers (which I can't begrudge them as people but it's clearly a terrible employment choice) - though they are in their underwear and would be generally regarded as quite attractive. They can be the only reason anyone would ever come here. My friend insisted that we go to three other "Vietnamese coffee" shops in the area that evening and this was far and away the best one which by my relative reviewing standards means this is at least a 4 though, otherwise, I'd rate it a 2 or 3. However, I will return and try the food. If they just had decent beer it'd be tolerable (Weihenstephaner Hefeweissbier would be a good start). read more

Won big money, drank some great coffee, and spoiled our eyes with some eye candy. The decor in here is very nice and it suits the name of the place perfectly. I came to this establishment with a few of my friends 3 months ago and the experience was nothing as I expected. The waitresses were extremely rude and they brought unsolicited cups of iced tea for each person in my table and charged $3 dollars a cup. This is very unprofessional you do not ing bring iced tea when nobody asked for it and charge $3 a cup. Another thing was that my friend with asthma was having trouble breathing from all of the confined indoor hookah smoke. This is unacceptable to allow people to smoke indoors especially because it could suffocate people with asthma. Third, one of the waitresses there was hot in a bikini and I wanted to take a pic with her as a way to remember going there and when I asked to take a pic she said in a rude and whiny voice "you're not allowed to take pics here" like wtf this establishment has an IG page for Christ's sake. Wave Cafe is a new Vietnamese coffee shop in San Jose. I have only been to about four or five different Vietnamese coffee shops, so I am by no means an "expert" on everything out there. But out of the ones I have been to, this one is my favorite. If you are looking for some of the more scandalous stuff that goes down in other coffee shops, this is not the place for you. But they do have attractive ladies serving in bikinis, so it's still cool. This place also looks a lot nicer than some of the other places. Of course, they have the standard TVs all over the place and game machines. Drinks range in price from $4 to $5. One of the girls who works there told me that they have only been open for a week, but they have plans for some interesting stuff in the near future. Uh, that was hilarious. I'm sure Palm cafe certainly sells food, but if you are intending for a nice coffee in the morning, you'll be really surprised. The place is pretty packed for 10am with smokers. It was pretty dark with people watching tv and smoking. The counter was located all the way in the back. I wasn't really interested in buying food and walked out before even making an attempt to walk through the restaurant. This place used to be called wave Café now it's called Palm Café they get five stars for their selection of drinks and food as they are one of the only cafés that serve beer and their smoothies are particularly flavorful however it seems the bikini clad girls here just like to sit behind the counter and play on their phones rather than refill the tea or take additional drink requests . My girl and I just came to Wave for the first time, being vets of the Vietnamese coffee shop scene in San Jose - but we were looking for a new choice. Wave was pretty good - the drinks were the same as anywhere else, but the Redskins/Eagles game was on a bunch of TVs and it was very easy to see from anywhere in the cafe, unlike some other places. One of the girls was reasonably friendly, the other gave us the silent treatment. Both of them were attractive and wearing tiny bikinis. Pretty standard stuff. Overall, we liked it. This is as good as it gets when it comes to Vietnamese cafes. Unlike many Vietnamese cafes, you actually enjoy sitting in this place because the decor and furnishing are done with taste. The seats are comfortable, and the tables are decently sized if you want to play cards. I also love the wave wall, which is kind of psychedelic and, believe it or not, soothing. It's also not as loud or smoky as some of the other cafes. I've even seen guys in here reading books, so that should tell you that it's not as dark and just a nicer place to relax. The girls are also prettier than most of the waitresses at Em Quyen, Chot Nho, Nguyen Espresso, Cafe Quyen, etc, but even more importantly, they are just friendlier and more civil. I just feel welcome here, which I can't say for a lot of other cafes, where the girls look annoyed that you exist. These girls dress sexy, but not trashy. It's a good balance, and when you look as good as these girls do, you don't really need to try too hard to be attractive. It's also a big plus in my book that they now serve beer and have expanded their menu. Watching a football or basketball in a bar is okay because of the beer, but take beer and add Vietnamese food, coffee, and women--well, it's just hands down the best place to chill with friends and watch a game. Anyway, I would have given it 4.5 stars, but you can only give it 4 or 5 starts, but that was only because of the smoke, which isn't nearly as bad as other places, but it's the only thing that kept it from being perfect.
