I have to say I've gone to multiple locations of Palm Beach Tan depending on where I work or where I'm running around. This Palm Beach Salon has a manager, Reyna, who is absolutely amazing. She worked at another location closer to me and she impressed me so much that I followed her all the way Rowlette. Her energy is magnetic and I love to be around her. She takes pride in her work. Went in for a spray tan. Got sprayed with black grease. Girls up front were not helpful nor did they offer to help me get it off or apologize. Instead they looked at me like I was speaking another language. Typical customer service at this salon. Contacted corporate office to be told sorry, someone will be in touch. No one ever called. Joke. My body was stained, the pictures are what I sipped off. I will be canceling my membership and never come back to this place and I want a full refund for this month. Been going to this tanning spa for over 10 years. Always had a great experience until today. I always give everyone the benefit of the doubt and realize everyone has bad days but both girls today works extremely tacky zero personality and zero customer service. It wasn't just one person it was both. The manager (the NEW one) RAYNA could care less. I showed up today to do a tan and wanted to do the tan that I pre-paid for. I wanted to do bronze instead of clear for the SunScape. she said unfortunately, her manager brad, delivered and expired color and my only option under my prepaid package was to do the clear. I told her I wanted to do the bronze for immediate color and she said I couldn't do that I had to do versa and pay extra. I told her I did not have my wallet with me, and because of their mistake, I shouldn't be charged. I had the money. It was just the way she acted the way she delivered the message and acted like she could care less whether I was happy or not. She said she is a new manager at this location. I've been with PT for years and years. I got to use alll of the sunless tanning at other salons, including Versa. Now I'm getting charged. $70 a month is enough. We are already nickel and dimed for add ons. It's simple greed. Then, instead of calling corporate themselves to fix it, they told me to. No way. I'm the customer and that is part of customer service. I canceled my membership today. I'll be driving to Rockwall but at least I'm getting better service. If you would have asked me to write review a year ago with this location I would have probably gave it a 2 due to the unfriendly vibe and attitude that I got for simply just wanting to come in and sign up. Because of that I didn't sign up a year ago. I decided I wanted to give this location a second chance. I called the location to inquire some information and Roxy (hope I spelled her name right) answered the phone very politely. She answered all my questions pleasantly. I was relieved that she was so kind over the phone! I stopped by the location same day and asked for her. She came up to the desk to assist me and with a smile! I immediately felt better going in this time than I did the last time a year ago. There was another sweet girl that was showing me the lotions while Roxy was getting my membership situated. So helpful and so kind! I renewed my membership and I'm so excited to be tanning again! Bed was clean and was in good condition. They gave me a nice bag to put my products in as well. They were closed last night before there was ever any ice on the road and are closed again today and again no ice on the road. There is literally no reason for them to be closed. I've been going to this location for a little over a year. At first the employees were great, very accommodating and welcoming, they were very willing to help. As employees come and go, the new girls didn't seem very equipped for the job. They are neither welcoming or warming when speaking with them. My biggest issue is that this location neglects telling their guest when a charge is pending or still due. I went to a different location and was told that I could not tan because I had a pending charge from June. Keep in mind that it was already August and I had been to the rowlett location a few times in July. The girl at the other location mentioned to me that they are not allowed to let anybody tan if there is a pending fee still owed. The fact that I was not told about this fee until it added an additional charge ($8.25 to freeze the account + $10 for a credit card decline fee), and they still let me tan while the charges added up is unacceptable. This was not the first time I've had this issue with this location. Another issue I had with this location was when my mom moved to North Carolina for 3 months, while she was gone she decided to freeze her account. When she came back to Rowlett and tried to unfreeze her account, the girl assisting my mother said that she could not let my mother tan because there was something wrong with her account. When my mother asked what the problem was, the girl could not answer, then proceeded to tell my mom "well I don't know what to tell you" when my mother got frustrated with her. My mom decided to completely cancel her membership and find a new place to tan. One last issue that bothered me was when I came into the store today, at 7:45, 1. When I pulled up to the store the open sign was already turned off, 2. When I walked in the look of annoyance that read all over both employee's faces showed me that I was not necessarily welcomed in so close to closing time, and 3. When I was canceling my membership that was frozen, another customer walked in and asked if she still had time to tan (it being 7:50), the employees said no. As someone who has been a closing manager before, I know that you do not close until the hour your door says (ie if your door says you close at 8, you take customers until 8). These girls were completely unprofessional and this store has completely gone down hill since I started coming here. At this point the drive to the North Garland location seems better than dealing with employees who do not understand customer service. read more

Since the hours have scaled back, it is difficult to make it in there by 7:30pm, I've gone in once or twice at 7:40, if later than 7:40, I won't go because I realize that puts me in the store after 8pm (closing). Each time I have been in there near closing (7:45'ish), they turn the lights out...I've been in the bed on two separate occasions and it was "lights out", I got dressed in the dark and walked out to meet 2-4 young girls glaring at me. The last two times, I made a point to look at the clock when I got into my car. First time was 8:02, second time was 8:01. I get it, nobody wants to work past closing time, but that's life in retail. I've been going there since it opened, I've always experienced friendly people, but this new group needs some charm schooling. read more

My husband won't allow me to tan unless I quit smoking. So I decided to try get a head start by trying this place out. I was able to print an online voucher valid for 7 consecutive days of free tanning. This store isn't well lit and was a bit hard to find through all of the nearby construction. Once I entered the store, everything looked clean and organized. There was only one employee working on this night. He was friendly, possibly too much. He told me all about his recent sign up to the Marines and his girlfriend and her ex-boyfriend and how he quit and only had 2 days left and was upset because his boss canceled his free membership. He went on to call his boss vulgar names. He seemed to have no respect for the company he worked for. But, I was more concerned about the tanning beds and what type of tan I would get. The pricing seemed a little high compared to what I'm used to. There is a $20.00 signup fee and monthly prices range from $25.95 - $119.95 depending on the membership you chose. He asked how long I wanted to tan for. I asked his opinion on the time, since it had been years since I last tanned. He said I could probably go for the full 20 minutes so I said okay. He had to clean a bed first, because earlier he stated he had been bored and lazy and all of the beds were dirty. My tanning session was nice. There is a radio on the wall with pre-set music genres. You also have the option to use the built in fan which has 3 speeds. I chose the highest speed. Normally I get especially hot when using a tanning bed but the fan was pretty strong and I stayed cool and relaxed. I left and my husband wanted to try it out. The next day he went around the same time as I did and the same guy was working. My husband took his wedding ring off to tan and forgot it on the shelf. He tried to call, but the salon had already closed. The next morning, he stopped in but none of the employees ever saw the ring. My husband was the last one to tan and I have no doubt the employee we both saw took his ring. Also- I am very badly burnt, as is my husband. If you are a first time tanner, don't rely on the employees to know the amount of time you should use. And if you ever forget anything, don't trust that the employees will keep it safe until you retrieve it... Your forgotten item will be long gone, taken by someone who believes in "finders keepers" instead of honesty. read more

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE - I tried to cancel my membership by going into the store. I got a receipt and a few weeks later I get charged for an "on-hold" membership. I call in and the girl tells me she can't help me and to call corporate, when I ask her to look up my account she hangs up on me. I call back. I ask for the corporate number, which she gives. I call and it is a fax number. I call back and ask for a manager - which she says she is LOL (if that is your manager your business is in the toilet) and I tell her about the fax number she sighs heavy and annoyed and gives me a 1866 number that doesn't get me anywhere. Beware of the shadiness at this salon! Particularly the manager...we've had several issues with her trying to scam us. My husband and I decided to cancel our memberships due to so many issues over the few months we were members at this particular location. Yesterday we went to physically cancel them, as I closed my account, I asked for the tan dollar amount...I had $86...so I cashed them in for a tanning lotion at that amount. (Also they always pretend to not know the price of the lotions, and then just make up the amount...the price of the lotions should be posted so customers can see them.) Next was my husband's turn to close his account, as she is doing this, I ask him, "don't you have tan dollars?" The manager, who is closing him out, says, "no, I didn't see any on there" my husband says, "well i should, because I haven't bought anything"...the manager says, "I will look again, but I don't think you do" ...a minute later she tells him he has 103 tan dollars...she then closes him out and hands him a receipt, which he looks at, on the receipt it shows he actually has 153 tan dollars. He asks her, "why does this show I have 153 tan dollars?" Without looking at the receipt, she has a response at the ready, "oh, I misread it, but with that amount you can still only get the same login your wife got" Two things: One, there is only a lotion that is at the $80 dollar range then it goes up to $175? There aren't lotions in between those amounts? Two, she was trying to screw us on those dance dollars because she can credit those to her store and it feeds into her bonus, and it doesn't eat up her product cost. Just beware of this location...ask for receipts and check them. This isn't the first time they scammed us with our tan dollars. read more

I have had the most frustrating experience with this specific location. Overall, the girls that work there are very young, unprofessional, and severely lack communication skills all around. Right after Christmas I went to this location and decided to use a Visa gift card to purchase spray tans. I dealt with the store manager-Cayce Douglas, who sold me 4 tans for $99, and upsold me product. After I paid using my Visa gift card, plus my credit card to pay the difference, she had made a mistake in the payment process and asked me for the cards again to redo the transaction. No problem! Easy to fix, right? NO. She had to redo the entire transaction (which is fine) but it all went downhill when the transactions (discounts) didn't match what she told me. The reason I agreed to the product (aerosol can of spray tan) is because Cayce told me I would get a specific discount. Well, after the redo transaction, the discount was lower. So I ended up paying $25 MORE than what I had agreed to. She never apologized or offered to refund me... she only offered to give me a "free" spray tan due to the mistake. I explained to her that a free spray tan is NOT free because I am paying $25 for it, which is half the price of a single spray tan. She then responded with a hesitated tone "Then I'll just give you another tan, so now you have two extras - equaling 6 spray tans". -Still no apology, which should have been the number one reaction in any Customer Service issue. She made me feel like I was wanting WAY more than what I was given. Before I left my first visit with Cayce, she told me that my tans would expire by February - that's only a month to use all 6 tans. I asked her if there's any way she can extend the expiration date of my spray tans... Cayse said yes with a huffy tone. (mind you, this entire time I was NOT rude, I was NOT huffy back or demanding. I was very calm and even apologised for asking!) A week or so later, I noticed I was double charged for all the transactions that happened from the first visit. I called Cayce and explained, she surprisingly apologized and took care of it for me. This showed me that she clearly does not know what she is doing as a Store Manager, due to her over promising and under delivering "bargains." Fast forward to my 5th spray tan. I walked in and the gal working pulled my name up in the database, and there's nothing to be found. No tans credited. So I explained the situation. She (can't remember her name) begrudgingly accommodated me and said she would "just give me a tan." She made me feel like I was asking for charity. Before leaving, I asked her if she would please put a note in my profile stating that I have just one tan left. She affirmed me that she would. Before making the 20 minute drive to my last spray tan, I called to make sure that I had one left in the database. I believe her name was Stephanie (I may be wrong).. Of course, there weren't any notes in my profile and zero tans left. Again, I briefly explained the entire situation in a few sentences. When I finished, Stephanie replied with "Okay...." :::Silence::::: I had to break the silence by asking "so, what do I do??". She replied the same as the last girl, and reluctantly said, "Just come in and I'll give you a tan." I explained that there have been a lot of issues and she told me "well, complimentary tans expire sooner that your purchased tans". Whatever. At this point, I was so over it. Worst 2 1/2 month experience from all the girls there. Never going back. I'd rather spend much more and drive further to avoid this again. I'm sorry to sound so angry, but I am. The older looking lady behind the counter had no problem asking me to upgrade my membership and then charging me $15.00 to try out the next bed up, But when I came out and explained the face bulbs were out, she only had " we will get that fixed". No refund or offer to try it again at no charge once fixed. Go to the North Garland or Mesquite locations. Night and day difference. I am very disappointed with this location. In November I purchased three spray tans for a special they had going. I went in tonight, two month later, to use the second tan and was told they had expired after 45 days. I explained to the girl that I was never told they had an expiration on them. Very disappointed that the Rowlett location has made a decision to take one of their level 1 beds out, leaving only one. We almost always have to wait for level one every time my husband and I go tan. There is almost always someone waiting to use a level one when we are leaving. I went here looking to tan for just a month to get ready for a wedding, the price was WAY too much since you have to pay the "start-up fee." However, what made me mad was the girl that worked there told me they had had a price increase because of "obamacare." Yes, Obama did put a 10% tax on tanning, but it is not in anyway related to the Affordable Care Act. Also, if they are so worried about the price increase, they could simply lower their prices. read more

Don't ever count on having a job here even if they tell you that you are hired. My daughter is home from college. She went for an interview, completed all the necessary drug testing, etc., filled out paperwork and was told she was hired. She was told to call in a week for her schedule. When she called, the lady that hired her said that her manager would not approve the hire because it was for the summer only. Shouldn't she have known that from the beginning??? Now, my daughter has wasted two weeks not looking for a job because she thought she had one. Not only that, but the hiring lady didn't even call her to tell her. She had to find out when she called for her schedule. Very unprofessional and very disappointing. Too bad because from the sound of the other reviews, this location could use some reliable and professional help. But THAT has to come from the top. They missed out on a good hire. read more

The check in process is a train wreck, you literally have to spell your entire first and last name and then put in a pin code, used to be finger print which you think would be enough identification. Not to mention if its busy, you stand in a line behind 3-4 other people waiting for each one to go thru the check in. The beds are decent but this place is expensive and such a pain to cancel. I am sitting in the waiting area right now listening to girls speak about how much they are paid, their commission for selling products, complaining about audits, gossiping about whoever the girl is who opens, and more about their personal lives that I can't even say. I'm hearing the manager Cayce Douglas gossip about how she doesn't "need" the worker who opens in the mornings and who the other girls dislike. She just said extremely loudly from the hallway "I don't know what her motive is for even working here, but she isn't going to make near as much money as the rest of y'all." I just heard one girl talk about how she "hates preparing for the audits" and how she would never promote (girls name) and how she would promote the girls working. So so so unprofessional how the manager is actively trash talking specific employees. She is so loud I can see the other 2 people in the waiting area glancing at her. The ONLY employee who I have been impressed with is a girl named Amanda. When I originally signed up, it was "free tan week" and the sign up fee was waived. When purchasing the membership, I was told the sign up fee after just being told it was waived. I had to remind her multiple times what she had just told me about the waived sign up fee. I have never once been greeted by the manager when she is talking with the people at the front, and never heard her speaking of anything that wasn't gossip or complaining. I am so appalled at the petty drama that I have to hear every time I visit. The mood here is just negative and it feels like nobody cares about the customers. I will keep coming here because I am happy with the price I pay monthly, but that is all. I would search around town before joining here. Use this as a last resort! The reason for the one star review is I always have to wait a long time to use the mystic spray even when I come on off peak hours. I absolutely love this location I've never had any issues until recently. I girl helped me with long hair and glasses Monday night. She was so rude when I said I wanted to wait until Friday to purchase my new lotion. She just completely changed her whole attitude towards me and sent me to my room. Only reason I'm giving this place 5 stars is because the manager at this location is one of the best in the areas and needs a raise. I will be contacting kassie to let her know about my experience here because it is not like the staff to be so RUDE. This place is always clean and I'm always greeted with A smile. It is with disappointment that I write this review. I have been a Palm Beach Tan member for roughly three years. I have visited many of the facilities. I have had many of the female and some male staff take care of me over the years and never had one complaint from them. Unfortunately my most recent experiences, which I will share leave me feeling bewildered. For the last 2 years I settled in on doing business at this Rowlett location where Casey is the manager. This is a high volume store that is constantly busy. My first visit to this location got off to a rocky start with a faulty level 5 bed that had 18 bulbs out. After being told by the sales girl the manager hadn't had time to change them I questioned why I was put in it then? I filed a concern with corporate feedback. Issue was resolved and for the next year I thought all was well. I got to know the staff, Megyn and Casey the Mgr. and things were good. After many visits and much small talk we agreed they needed to expand the business and add some beds. I figured i'd put a suggestion into corporate. Nothing really came of it but things did seem to run smooth after. There were a few more suggestions and a couple complaints regarding staffing/bed problems afterwards and then tension seemed to build from the district side as I was contacted by Brad Horsman. He questioned their ability to meet my needs. He seemed insulted. I've praised the staff frequently and made suggestions simply because I am a former store manager and business manager myself. I continued to do business as usual with no understanding of any concerns from staff and It was early this year I get a call out of the blue from Brad Horsman. It was a confrontational call, he was accusing me (from what he was told) of rudely interrupting a sales transaction between a brand new 20 year old employee and customer at the sales counter. I told him I was clueless as to what he was talking about. Turns out the girl lied, and Casey the manager never bothered to review the CCTV footage apparently before reporting me to district. even after the incident was cleared up and she was later let go, Casey was still defensive about the situation and I never received an apology from Brad Horsman. This incident rubbed me wrong but i chalked it up to miscommunication. Casey eventually told me there was nothing wrong on tape. I continued business as usual but things were never the same from there on. I was told everybody from district knows me. As of last week I encountered a problem. I admit that for the first time in 3 years I was rude to an employee. I accept 50% of the blame as my morning had been less than peak. I was having an off day. I in a stern voice told Kelly, another brand new employee, who was not at the counter for 2-3 minutes and didn't answer to callout that I would take this up with Brad And Casey. I was short, no doubt. I looked for her to apologize upon leaving but couldn't find her again. I apoligized the following day. Somehow that got turned around into a call from Brad Horsman telling me I was raging at the sales counter, screaming and beating my fist on the counter top. My wife was with me this day and was witness that this was a complete fabrication. I was also told (which is news to me) that the staff is uncomfortable and intimidated by me because In Brads words "I've seen you on video tape, you're a bigger guy," and we're going to cancel you and your wife's memberships. I told him then he must've also seen then that i didn't do those things. I got radio silence and was told to call The VP Jake Achley. I did, and tried to explain my side, he said he would look into it and review the CCTV video. Received the call back and Jake stated that after a few interviews he was going to stick with the cancellation. No mention of video. My wife's membership was reinstated. **I wish Palm Beach no ill will, nor staff, as a consumer I just feel wronged!** There is a breakdown here at some level and process. My experience with Palm Beach Tan was horrible. I was an employee for almost five months, and I was so excited to work there, and for the first month, every time I came in, I had a positive attitude and I was ready to learn how to sell, to learn about tanning, and the products. That positive energy quickly faded as I listened to the store manager talk badly about the other girls we worked with (myself included), and even the customers. She is constantly gossiping about her employees TO her other employees. As soon as she sends a customer to their bed, she starts gossiping about how annoying they are because they won't buy anything, completely disregarding the fact that her customers are already paying a monthly fee to tan there. She has inflicted this attitude on all of her employees, but because of the morals I stand by, I didn't let her get to me. My second month there, I started noticing a lot of unprofessional and discouraging things. There were a couple of times I had to call in and ask to come in 30min-1hr late due to serious family issues, and my store manager always gave me a sense that she thought I was lying and she would threaten to write me up if I didn't get there on time, and of course because it was something I could not control, and involved my family, I wouldn't be able to do that. One day, when this happened, I came in at 5, when I was supposed to at 4, but I called in prior to assure them I was still coming in for my shift. She wrote me up and then talked to me about talking to my parents about "my boundaries" and how they can't interfere with my job life, which is entirely true, but she was telling me to prioritize Palm Beach Tan over my parents who I still very much depend on. She asked me to put aside my personal life for a job that wasn't even in the criteria of what I'm going to school for all while, she was late to every single one of her shifts, including ones in which she was training me, or another girl. One morning, she was supposed to train me to open the store, and I waited in my car for her for 20 minutes, and we opened the store late because she wasn't on time, and I hadn't gotten my key yet. This job is a competition and with competitions comes cheaters. I've witnessed MANY dishonest transactions made by the assistant manager and the store manager. They'll charge their customers for a $50 bottle of lotion, when all they think they're buying is a pack of sprays just to raise their commission and sales scores. The discounts aren't really discounts, they just tell you the full price is the 30% off price. They lie about expiration dates, and then blame the issue on the customer. The amount of scamming that really goes on behind the counter is astonishing and the fact they are teaching young girls this method to take with them to other employers just blows my mind. They'll get on to their shift leaders for not making as many sales as them, but the managers will literally run from the back of the store to the front to assist a customer, even if their shift leader is in the front already. They steal sales but they continue to criticize their employees for low sale scores. Such of lack of team building and leadership skills. You don't kick down your employees and push them to the side, then question them on their abilities. If you don't give them the chance to sell, they won't. The management acts like children, and any kind of salon should not be ran by a child. I have read so many reviews about my store manager and I am here to confirm, they're all true, and I will never understand how that location is still up and running due to the lack of professionalism, loyalty and honesty to their customers AND employees. I have tanned many years with Palm Beach Tan and a couple years at the Rowlett location. I will never go back to Palm Beach Tan! I had spent 100.00 on 3 spray tans that were not supposed to expire and then I get there and of course it expired and the girls would do nothing about it and didn't even apologize. I've been tanning off and on at PBT for many years now. I no longer actually tan I just do the Mystic however, every time I go in I have to wait a long time for it. They for sure need to catch up on this as alot of people don't tan in the beds anymore and actually do spray. They for sure need more Mystic machines to cater to the customers that use it frequently as they offer Mystic memberships. Come on Rowlett... catch up! Other than that, the girls are always nice but are constantly trying to sell crap to you. That gets frustrating... read more
