As others have noted, Palm Beach Tan - Eden Prairie practices highway robbery. It's a classic case of bait-and-switch. Back in 2018, I signed a contract for their "Tan Stay & Save Program." I haven't returned to the tanning salon since then. However, from 2018 to 2022, I was being charged $5/month, which was credited to my store account. Today, I saw on my bank account that I was still being charged the $5 monthly fee for an accrued total of $200+!! I was shocked and furious because no one from Palm Beach Tan ever contacted me to ask when I would be returning and to remind me of the $5 monthly fee. I returned to the salon and signed a Notice of Cancellation to finally stop the $5 monthly charge. Their sales practice is unethical. Not only that, but the employees are obviously trained to peddle the various tanning products and rope people into buying endless memberships. Their high pressure sales tactics are worse than used car salespeople. I will never, ever return to Palm Beach Tan. Buyer beware!! read more

If you are going to come here to your researxh in advance and know damn well what you are willing to pay for. The sales team will use every opportunity they have to swindle you into something else while you are deciding on your "package" since they is the only opportunity they have to earn their money. I have come and gone to PBT over the years and this last time I spent all morning tense about it practicing what I would say to the attendant while I restarted a membership. Needed what I practiced and then some. I'm just here for vitamin D and a BASETAN so I don't burn the skin off my knuckles in the tropics..... I am one of the very few folks coming in who doesn't care what they look like (Aka, what color my skin tans to) so I can keep to the script. But yeah- it feels like a battle against advertising swindlers. I was also told that if I were to use a lotion that was slightly expired (open over 1 year) I could risk getting a chemical burn. Beloveds- I shall no longer be using your lotions and instead will opt for more natural tanning lotions -I don't care if it is truthful or a thing said to get me to buy lotion immediately- if I'm not paying attention to the date on a product you sell and the result of that is a chemical burn, I absolutely will not be putting it on. Still interested? The beds work fine. And honestly there aren't too many other options out there. However it doesn't feel good going back to a place that requires mental armor to go into. Especially one that advertises left and right a promotion but does everything in their power to prevent you from actually using it at that price. So gross. A friend recently told me that Planet Fitness offered free tanning with their $20 a month membership and next time I'm in this situation I am going to remember that. read more

The beds are fine but the cleanliness/upkeep of this place leaves a lot to be desired. Last time I was there, there were no paper towels in the rest room, one of the 2 lightbulbs were out (Has been out for at least 3 weeks) The toilet bowl was dirty and I can tell from the marks on the floor that it has not been mopped in at least a month. It makes me wonder how thorough they are in cleaning their beds. For what they charge, they are also cheap with their amenities. Would it break the bank to have some men's and women's deodorant, a box of Kleenex and a garbage can in the back area? During a recent visit, there were 4 employees working and 3 of them were trying hard to look busy. Maybe its not their job to do the maintenance but whoever's job it is seems to be on a long vacation. read more

I'm not impressed by the $5 per month fee that is charged on the 1st of each month to keep the membership going; however, any updates to your membership have to take place on the 25th of each month. Whereas, normal, business memberships bill/charge on the 1st of the month and allow membership updates on the 1st as well. Palm Beach tricks people with a billing cycle on the 25th, so if you re-activate your membership, you still get charged the $5 fee plus the regular monthly fee. The $5 should be waived once membership is reinstated by the 1st of a given month! It's nickel-n-diming the public, at its finest. read more

I started tanning here in 2015 in preparation for a trip to Mexico. I started with the most cost effective package, which at the time was $19.95 per month in a basic sun bed. I left once, not understanding that if I joined again I'd be charged a start up fee, and since then have realized if I want to freeze my membership, all I have to do is tell them and they hold my membership for $5 a month. When I start again, I get all the money back in product. I now have a gold package, and have bought many promotional upgrades to platinum. In addition, they have specials on spray tanning on Mondays, which is always nice. They also just switched to skin tone matching for spray tanning, which has an obvious plus but you also have to pay $10 for each color cartridge when you do your spray tan, in addition to the cost of the spray tan. There once was a manager here named Sean. He no longer works there, but I will never forget him and the way he told me about the benefits of the sunbeds there, etc. So I stay because I love the place. I think it's clean and has high quality beds. I also will never forget the service of the one manager that told me all the reasons to stay at Palm Beach tan and that will keep me there to possibly upgrade to a better monthly plan going forward. read more

Went in with a free spray tan coupon and was charged $26 anyway. The salon rep did tell me I would be charged for a cartridge, so I agreed thinking it would be around $5. I was shocked when she said $26 as I did not have any add ons. Very shady and misleading. What does "free" mean to Palm Beach Tan? Also, had to re-dress to inform them the lotion was out, the auto cleaning started and sprayed my legs with water after my tan under the door and when I got home I noticed my tan has a dirty color to it with splotches. Horrible customer service. Rude, snobby, untrained employees. Was greeted by a crabby and demanding woman who didn't explain extra charges properly and wouldn't cancel my membership as requested. I brought in the coupon that I printed off for 4 tans for $1.00 for new customers. I showed the girl my coupon and before I could ask any questions she gave me a canned tour of the salon and then brought out the price book. She kept pushing me to get a contract and give my credit card number. She was very pushy and rude. I told her I wanted to use my coupon first to try out the salon. She said that the silver bed would be a waste of time and I would not get any color. She again then brought up their other tanning packages and said tell me why you are not interested in these. I told her no thank you and walked out. If you want to experience rude pushy sales people you can go there if not stay away! read more

I went in for two spray tans and the person working explained that the best deal would be to unfreeze my account, pay for a month and freeze my account again on my next visit. I was charged $30 to do this and was told that this would be all I would have to pay. When I came in for my 2nd tan, I was charged another $20. Okay, maybe I didn't understand, I paid this amount and froze my account like I was told. Then, I see another charge for $50 in my account. When I called to inquire, she explained that I didn't freeze it soon enough even though she never told me anything about a magic date that it needed to be done by. I feel like this was very dishonest and am very disappointed that this charge was not able to be reversed. $100 for two spray tans is highway robbery! read more

I am giving this salon 2 stars because they have nice beds to use - However, I felt like the sales gal up front was very pushy to make a sale. I bought a 4 pack of single tans and 1 spray tan which was a promotion they were running. The tans are only active on your account for 9 days (which is unfortunate because I do come back to the area for work), but the price for this package was better than a single spray tan alone. I turned down her offer to buy a lotion or product for 20% off for my first time purchase, went in my bed tan, and when it was time for my spray tan... She AGAIN tried to upsell me on products and boosters. I declined again when she said she would give me the tan booster for free since it was my first time and she wanted me to like my color. I thought it was a very sweet gesture and we started talking again... Then she asked me for my charge card again so she could charge me for my booster!!! It kind of caught me off guard. -- I ended up paying for my booster that she already mixed for me. I won't be returning to this salon again next time I am in town on business. read more

Out of the few locations that I've been to, this one is my favorite one. It's very bright and inviting, compared to some of the others. It's also very clean, and you can tell that they care about appearance and keeping customers happy and coming back. The first time I was in, the girl who signed me up was very friendly and asked and answered questions to make sure I was ultimately getting what I wanted when I signed up for my package. They're also very great about going over the differences in packages and how to go about getting spray tans and which solution would work best for how dark you would like to be. I would recommend this place for anyone who's interested in getting a tan, and there's always coupons on their website for new customers who sign up-so don't go without looking online first! read more

I went into Palm Beach Tan in Eden Prairie in September, 2016 for a few sessions. The manager there talked me into purchasing a monthly package because it was cheaper. I made it perfectly clear I had no intention on coming back after the 3 sessions I wanted to do. He sold me an accelerator lotion to use, and after the 2nd time I broke out everywhere so I never went back. After 5 months now, I realized I am being charged 5.61 every month because he 'froze' my account instead of canceling it as I requested. I just called them and found out that not only can they not do anything for me, but I have to fill out a form to cancel the account. Very poor customer service! I will never go back to a Palm Beach Tan!!!! read more

The manager here is amazing!!! He upgraded my package, had every answer to the questions I asked an was open and honest! He knew me by name after my second visit, and even tossed on a free spray tan! He showed me all the tips and tricks to my tanning and spray tanning to help me maximize results with the least amount of $$. Truly the best experience I've had. I had been going to the Palm Beach Tan in Plymouth. We recently relocated to Eden Prairie and I was fortunate to find another Palm Beach Tan close to me. On my first visit I noticed how clean, organized and updated it was. The young lady at the front desk was nice and accommodating. I was so impressed with the amenities. There is a place to freshen up after your tan which would be perfect for someone who was tanning during a lunch break from work. I have been going there several times a week to prep for vacations and was comfortable with each person at the front desk. Until yesterday. I was disappointed to be greeted by someone new but he was friendly and quickly put me at ease. He said he had worked at the location in Plymouth which became clearly evident when the hard-sell tactics began. He tried to sell me everything but his grandmother. Despite saying no thanks several times I ended up agreeing to purchase 6 costly "upgrade" sessions! So disappointed. I hope he was just filling in. I loved going there so I am still giving them a 5 star rating. read more
