Was waiting for my cousin to buy some items and was disgusted by the cashier's(possibly owner) remarks toward her. My cousin comes in here daily for her coffee and will occasionally get juice and chips...while checking out, the cashier commented on her weight and if her exercise plan consisted of the items she was buying. It's absolutely NEVER ok to make such statements, especially toward a buying customer who comes in ALL the time! Next time, please just do your job and keep your mouth shut!

$3.99 each...I haven't touched this stuff since High School graduation!

Remember your first love? I remember mine. I remember Night Fishing (that's what us guys called it) on the banks of the Arkansas River. Getting together with friends. The feel of silt between my toes. A large drift wood fire, the smell of lighter fluid, the cool October air, fishing lines cast, huddled together, the warmth, the taste of her lips. I never cared much for the taste of beer growing up. It wasn't till later that the acquisition came to me...but I like sharing cheap wine with Jamie. She was a curly blond headed goddess...and I was her man. We shared wine...sweet, cheat, ghetto wine. Most of you only remember Mad Dog 20/20 as a joke on Eddie Murphy's "Raw"...if that...but it and TJ Swan were my go to. Ice cold, hand to hand, lip to nozzle, and highly intoxicating...we shared bottles with friends while waiting...not for fish...but adulthood. Funny what you find when not looking? I was just in Pali Bottle for a Pau Hana beer run and happened on my youth. I wasn't sure I was seeing correctly? Was this the same Mogen David branded as MD 20/20? Called the Mad Dog? At $3.99 a pint bottle it seemed even cheaper than I remembered (older friends often hooked me up!). I just had to have it. You might laugh...I don't care. It is entirely to sweet for my palate now. When it washes across my tongue...still...I reminisce. The nice couple at Pali Bottle filled me in about things in their past. Life in a simpler, yet more carefree time. They too, has shared this elixir. They too...had a fondness. That, I am guessing here, is why this is the only liquor store I know of to carry Mad Dog. I am grateful for remembrance...for desire...for lost innocence...and youth. Pali Bottle is located at the corner of Oneawa and Kuulei Road...next to Central Pacific Bank in Kailua town. Here is nothing fancy, but often they run specials cheaper than other places, and I enjoy looking through their stock...never know? Maybe one day...I'll find...

Not that I'm a lush, that much... They have the best selection of specialty booze. Why do you need specialty booze? Why not!

We stopped here because the sign clearly stated parking was for paying customers only. I went inside, bought snacks and drinks, and paid while my wife walked across the street to Kalapawai Deli to grab sandwiches since their lot was completely full. Despite the fact that I had just made a purchase and the parking lot was still mostly empty, the owner chased me down as I walked across the street and abruptly told me I could not keep my car there. I returned to my vehicle and decided to simply wait for my wife instead of abandoning her and our baby while I circled Kailua looking for parking. Roughly two minutes later, the owner came knocking on my window demanding to know what I was doing. I explained, calmly and logically, that I was waiting for my wife and utilizing the customer parking that was advertised on the sign after making a purchase. Rather than respond reasonably, he became increasingly emotional, irrational, and confrontational over an almost empty parking lot. The interaction honestly felt less like speaking to a business owner and more like dealing with a child throwing a tantrum. By the end of it he seemed genuinely on the verge of tears over someone calmly sitting in a parking spot they had every reason to believe they were allowed to use. At that point I decided it was better to leave before my wife and infant walked back into an escalating confrontation with someone behaving so unreasonably. If the business wants to impose hidden rules or arbitrary time limits on parking, they should clearly post them instead of emotionally harassing paying customers in an almost empty lot.

And willow tree and bostons pizza. It's a great little shopping center with lots of parking. I come to this tamuras every so often to pick up poke. I just wish the poke counter was open longer, because I have to come after work and they're often closed before I get there. I can usually find something in the refrigerated section that they pack when the counter closes, but I'm pretty sure the kaimuki located has their poke counter open until much later. I like to come for the poke, I also like the chips and local snacks. The dips and other refrigerated goodies are also good. As for liquor, I've found pretty neat bottles of interesting flavors and brands. They're the only people who sell ever clear (I needed some to make homemade limoncello) and they have a variety of locally made alcohol. The cashiers are efficient, but not always friendly. Prices are reasonable I think. There are usually other people on the store picking up pau hana drinks and snacks. I like that there are little tables outside, but I don't think you can drink out there haha.

When you walk in, it feels more like a liquor store at first, with alcohol and wine bottles lining the space. The poke counter is tucked all the way in the back, and when we visited, there were only about 2-3 flavors available. We ended up trying the Ahi Tamura Sauce and the Spicy Ahi. The flavor and seasoning were really good, though it leaned more on the watery side. The fish itself was decent--not the freshest we have had, but still enjoyable overall. The rice was well done and complemented the poke nicely. Later on, we decided to take some poke to go and asked for the poke and rice to be separated. However, the price ended up being higher than the bowl when we checked out, which was a bit of a turnoff. Overall, it was a solid poke experience. Nothing mind-blowing, but satisfying, and we both left happy with our meal (and definitely confirm the prices if you go)!
