I have 5 pieces to glaze next week and to gift for the holidays. Our class had around 8 people and the cool part is we were all ages, from high school to 20s, 40s, and older. The owners teach the course and are pretty kind and helpful. They also offer additional days for practice, monthly memberships, and lots of extra help if needed. I plan to continue visiting via a membership or repeating the 4 week course.

My sister-in-law and I often shop in the downtown area, because there are several great boutiques. (There are also great restaurants in the area, so you should definitely check it out!) Recently she told me a new shop had happened, and she took me to Meraki and Moon. I was instantly in love! This shop offers art, home decor, clothing, jewelry, bath salts, crystals, accessories, wine, and so so so much more! We ended up purchasing several items, and we were both so happy with our purchases that we can't wait to go back! Plus, they offer classes and hands on art experiences, and you can purchase wine by the bottle or glass and enjoy it while in a class or while shopping! And, on top of all of that, the shop owners and employees are awesome! You can read about their story on their website, and in person they are so friendly and helpful. I really enjoyed meeting them and talking with them during our visit. This is the perfect shop to check out for yourself, or for gifts. They have so many items, and the prices are so reasonable, it's become my new favorite spot in Georgetown! Be sure to check it out!

KY Mudworks' cone 6 clays…read moreare superior in every way, excellent for throwing, and fully vitrify (0.5% absorption) at cone 6. Almost no other cone 6 clays vitrify this well at this temp. I ordered clay online as well and the website was clear about relevant delays and the reasons why- including certain ingredients being harder to access or changes to formulations. There are similar delays to much larger websites, and this local business feels like a better use of money. The person who helped me was friendly and available for my questions without making me feel pressured to buy anything. I will keep coming back for KY Mudworks brand clays (especially Iceman and Sheltowee) and glazes (their clear glaze is flawless, and Sequoia is another favorite).

I've been to other painting classes and Board & Brush is the Cream of the Crop hands down. The process is super easy. Go online and choose your project, you can even customize what you want it to say. Once you arrive and check in they already have your seating set up, (TIP: if you are going with a friend make sure you put that friend's name down...they have a place for that when you're booking.). This place is staffed appropriately and they are like a well oiled machine. We got to our table they had the boards there and the stencils and confirm that it's to your liking. I didn't realize that we actually put the boards together, stain them along with the painting; but, don't freak out, they have everything you need and it's super fun to do that part. My friend chose a beautiful cardinal scene to put outside her front door for Christmas and I chose the gingerbread man. I did change what they had written on the website to be "Home Sweet Home". Y'all it is so fun and fulfilling to complete a project start to finish. I'm gushing so I'm gonna finish with this...don't put this off, just go. It's so much fun to do by yourself or with friends. Oh and if you want some wine they have it!! Whoo hoo!!! Trust me just go. You will enjoy it!

While there, staff was discussing problems filling their classes. There was a class 2 people had signed up for, but 1 cancelled, so they cancelled the class. I thought, "No wonder." I've come to the realization they are insular rather than friendly. It's an unpleasant, exclusionary atmosphere. No thanks.

When I found out that she was doing a class when I would be able to attend, I signed up before I even knew what we would make! I came out with a beautiful ornament and little blown glass vase. The shop is tidy and full of fun trinkets to look at...I *love* the sea themed items! Her jellyfish paperweights are probably my favorite but she does seasonal work as well with pumpkins and holiday ornaments. The class is great for an introduction to glass working in a hot shop. I appreciated Michelle's explanations & confidence in my abilities...she let me be creative and I had even more fun because of that!
