I ended up getting a turned wooden miniature rolling pin for use while traveling. He then was offended I would use it actually for cooking, And proceeded to call me a glutton because I'm not slim like my friend. Wow! We were both taken aback ...Amazing ! I'm still offended. I'm overweight but really, it was out of the blue, uncalled for and highly offensive.

Upon arrival to actually getting ready to pick out a piece and actual going into the shop to assist and learn what all goes into the process. Mike is exceptional as an teacher and instructor as you will find. He has a great resume and knows what he is doing. This is a smaller shop, however the output of designs is far from small. It is large on quality and creativity. Mike worked with each of us (a group of 4, 2 grandkids and 2 adults). Not only did we get first hand instructions and guidance, we were able to see other glassblowers in action. We ended up with 3 pumpkins and 1 snowman. Mike also gave provided us with some of the top universities that offer glassblowing and how to get started. It is a fairly tedious journey in learning all the in's and outs of glass blowing and design and what works and what doesn't. We were truly impressed and may look at Fire Studio and Gallery for some xmas presents. This might be a bit expensive art, however it is usually one of a kind and in personal gifts, that means a lot.

This is a very clean, neatly organized and (as the name says) eclectic shop. Where else can you find really unique items, artwork, furniture, collectibles, and NO JUNK! They have antique books, magazines, glassware, unique art, and it's nicely displayed .... you'll have to visit more than once just to really see everything. The bar staff were all knowledgeable and efficient in their service. The band playing was incredible on the semi-outdoor enclosed patio (there were heaters so was quite comfortable), and jsut overall was quite fun. Prices are a tad on the higher side but that is to be expected with a speakeasy and cocktails. Beautiful paintings, photos, glass beads, jewelry, all by Diane and all beautiful! I bought some of the cute glass zipper pulls - so unique. She was fun to talk to, and she does animal rescue too! Diane told us about the artist that makes the cute metal animal sculptures out of recycled metal parts. What a talented and busy woman - so glad that we stopped in. She even took time to answer our question about a plant growing outside her studio (she also has a horticulture degree, among her art degrees).
