I come here for gifts maybe twice a year, and I wish I could be here more often. Mulberry and Lime (M-L) is a great store in an historic family home on Limestone Street in downtown Lexington. What I like about the store is both the display and the quality of the goods. No mass-produced, made in China disposable crap here. The emphas is on quality linens, writing paper, gifts, and china, and artwork M-L has a wedding registry, carries antiques, and there is a great selection of local art. This is a great place to get a gift for a female friend, a wife, a mother, a daughter, but there is cool stuff for men here, too. The owner is preservation-minded which makes me like her all the more, and the gift wrap is unique. You'll have no problem finding the store next to the Sayre School. There are always textiles hanging from the line in front to signal that M-L is open. This is the kind of store Lexington deserves. If only M-L had a small place to eat or have a drink, I think more people would come to this Lexington gem. I like the Moe's bowtie selections, and now there is some great art from Lexington artist Tuska. The giftwarap is always great. Hats off to this locally owned business.

This store is not like any other, it's not overwhelming with selections. They have just the right amount of color choices and pieces. They have mugs hanging on the wall as soon as you walk in 2/$30. This was my favorite spot. They are all unique in their own way. Various colors, styles and sizes. This is also the home of the "This might be Bourbon" logo on their mugs. They have a nice little selection of Kentucky mugs. T-shirt's and also sale some hand carved wooden pieces from a gentleman out of Berea. If you're interested in making your own or learning they also offer classes. This is definitely a place we will return to for our home and gifts.

The owners Carvel and Ashley have been traveling around Kentucky to different festivals until now. They have an official store front. They have the greatest style and personality in their work. They have a signature color and flare to their pottery. It's more than just functional, it is art. This store is a tribute to their hard work and success. Here you can find anything from gift tags, Christmas ornaments, coffee mugs, bowls, plates, just to name a few. If you can mold it and skulpt it out of clay, you can find it here. They also sell logo wear and the growing popular beard oils and soaps. Impressive. Stop in and see what they have. First, you must call to set up an appointment to shop. The store is small so they only allow a certain amount of people inside. They have different hours as well. Upon entering, they require a face mask and hand sanitizer before browsing the store. The location is literally right off campus. Parking can be annoying in this area. There is street parking in front or a small parking lot behind the store. Keep this in mind when visiting. There are a couple of other businesses located in the same building: a Korean restaurant (delicious) and a music store downstairs. If you're looking for a fun and unique store, definitely visit!

I was driving from Nashville to Cincinnati and picked Frankfort as a place to get out of the car and walk for an hour. Not one to resist a craft store, I decided I could pop in for a minute or two. I perused the store for over an hour and left with $400 worth of merchandise. Completely Kentucky is, in my opinion, the best crafts store in the US. This is not a store where you go to "get a deal." The merchandise is priced so the artists can be decently compensated and the store can keep its lights on. That means not cheap. But coming from the left coast, I thought the prices were very reasonable. When it comes to wood and clay crafts, Kentucky knocks it out of the park. But this store features artists working in every manner of medium. Their commitment to providing a spot to as many Kentucky artists and crafts people as possible is impressive. I love this store. The day after I discovered them I started saving for my next visit. My goal is the have minimum $1000 to spend and to also bring along an empty suitcase so I can get all my loot back home. :)
