Young women made a great hot dirty Chai Latte and so delicious. She is a wonderful job!!

We have 3 days here and tried this for the first coffee shop namely because of their vegan pastries. Unfortunately they were also GF. It's a very hard thing to accomplish the right textures with those and it was not ideal. I had the maple donut (would not recommend) and my husband had the cinnamon roll. It was decent but I wouldn't order it again. Definitely best warmed. The coffee wasn't super strong either-- my husband had a vanilla oatmilk latte and I had my usual oat soy latte, both lacked coffee flavor. The ambiance was cute, the gift shop was nice and the people were SO kind, but it wasn't the place for us, unfortunately. read more

This little pit stop was a welcomed surprise located on Main Street off California st exit on the 101 freeway. If you are in need of coffee there are a few locations on Main Street in Ventura to choose from, this one I definitely recommend first and foremost. It is not your everyday run-of-the-mill coffee shop, it is cleverly intertwined with a retail location full of cool knickknacks, divine pastries to satisfy your sugar cravings and gelato also. Not only did I get a great tasting latte and excellent service I also left with some good quality bamboo cutting boards that I had been searching for... who would have known?? Give it a try, my friends and I were not disappointed. read more

I was craving a gelato! Stopped here to snatched a mini vanilla one. Pretty good. A bit more than 6 bucks but it's gelato, not super pricey. Service was nice. I think Palermo is a nice spot to enjoy some sweets and chat. Not a huge space, so I was side busting all kinds of convos. I love the chisme (gossip). I have gotten coffee here before too but I didn't love it. I kept coming back because it's just a charming place downtown that has gelato ! Yass read more

This place has a a title of everything. Gelato, coffee , and even plain ol plates! On this particular day the service was quick, and average, but I've been here on days you can hardly get through the door. Today I ordered a regular black coffee and it was pretty good. The seating is limited but comfortable. Overall pretty good. read more

One of the big staples for downtown Ventura. While they serve coffee here, we come here primarily for their gelato. Delicious flavors, and a great treat when you're spending time in downtown. They also make one of the best affogatos here. It's typically made with their vanilla gelato - two scoops with two shots of espresso. We've done the earl gray gelato when they're out of vanilla, and it's a decent substitute. They also have a full cafe menu. I love chai, and they have so many different chai options to choose from. It's not often to find more than one flavor of chai somewhere. They also have a fun little gift store you can peruse while waiting for your order. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. Or you can take it to go and enjoy walking up and down Main Street. read more

This place is so cute and charming! It's perfect for a post dinner gelato, sweet treat or latte. I've never seen so many chai flavors available in my life . Where to fall in line and pay was a bit confusing because there's so much stuff blocking the counter that you can't see staff, but otherwise just ask.I would recommend. read more

Incredibly rude staff. There were six employees behind the counter chatting and gossiping, and not a single one acknowledged me or offered to help. Even a simple "We'll be with you in a moment" would have gone a long way, but I was completely ignored. I'm honestly surprised this place stays in business with customer service like that. Do yourself a favor and take the short walk to Caje on Palms instead. read more

I work downtown and decided to come on my break which is 15 minutes. I ordered a chai and waited over 20 minutes! There was no line. The workers are just sitting around talking and there is no priority for the customers. Wouldn't recommend coming here unless you want to wait. This is now the second time it's happened. read more

Palermo is a coffee/gelato and home decor/gift store in downtown Ventura. My review is primarily based on their coffee and cookies/scones etc. Having gone several times, I want to love Palermo, but for me their coffee and lattes are just okay. I often don't find their coffee drinks strong enough for my liking. I know they use quality beans, but my beverages always seem a little less bold and almost watered down. Their baked goods are not where it is at. I have tried a few different options and most recently a chocolate chip cookie with walnuts and it was dry and way too dense. I don't eat gelato but have several friends and family that rave about it and it looks good. I would stick to the gelato, cute gifts and home decor items. read more

Palermo is my absolute favorite gelato place when im driving down south. Their creme brûlée gelato has been my go to favorite for years! Im a creature of habit. I get it all the time and never try new flavors because I always feel like im going to miss out of enjoying this one. So again I got the creme vrulee and enjoyed it to my fullest! Also a great spot for coffee and cute little gifts. They have a gift shop in the back of their shop with lots of nice cool gift ideas! It is located in downtown Ventura so there is plenty to do after a coffee/gelato break. read more

Amazing desserts here! So much to the choose from! The workers were all very friendly as well! The Gelato was amazing! My wife got the Cafe Mocha & I got the Butterfingers! Highly recommend both! Wonderful coffee shop in Ventura. As an out of towner looking through Yelp for a coffee shop this past weekend, I thought this was the best option from looking at the unique menu offerings. Love that they have a little bit of everything. Coffees, chai, teas, Pastries, gelatos, chocolates, and more! I came at night for gelatos and left with that and a cookie I saw in the glass display. The Aba zaba gelato unfortunately just tasted like vanilla but was super refreshing. The hazelnut one was really tasty though! The choco chip walnut cookie was a large soft cookie. It was pretty good but wouldn't get it again. Came back in the morning and was way more impressed by the coffees. We got some Mexican mochas and a lavender mocha and all of my fam was so in love with all our drinks! I got mine light sweet and with almond milk which was perfect for me and was still super flavorful. Hope to try some more things when I'm in town again! read more

I walked in to get a quick treat and drink. The two employees behind the counter were chatting and I got a look like I was interrupting the mean teenage girls in high school. Then, a guy comes in with his dog and the freakin dog was jumping all over the counter! The employees were petting him and going right back to prepping food/drinks. It may be a cute shop and all but I was turned off and felt my business wasn't appreciated. This experience makes me appreciate small biz gems like Tatiana's and Singing Sun so much more. read more

0 stars. Stood at the counter for 5 minutes. Wasn't super busy. Just a guy who was helping customers, a girl making drinks and another girl just talking to her coworker. First time in Ventura and first coffee shop I was hoping to try. Super bummed. I came in at 7pm at night today. read more

This review may sound trivial, but it's not about pennies--it's about principle and ethical business practice--or lack of it. Cute shop, with a decent selection of wildly overpriced gifts in the back (same small stuffed animal that we saw in another shop for $16.99 was almost $60). I bought a selection of greeting cards with a $3.99 manufacturer retail price printed on the back. With no other tag or posting, this is the price I expected to pay--and have paid every time in every other store for the decades I've been buying greeting cards. Yet, when I looked at my receipt later, the store charged $4.15. Only pennies more, about $1 total difference--not worth return or refund. BUT, the practice of overcharging customers with surreptitious, underhanded upcharges is completely unacceptable and makes me wonder how else they're ripping off their clientele that's not as obvious as their outrageous posted pricing. I will never do business with Palermo again. If you do, be sure to ask for a receipt (associate asked if I wanted one), and check it carefully before you leave the store. read more

I can not trust this place. Be weary when paying. Upon paying, you don't even know what they are charging for, nothing except the price is on the screen. So when a drink on the menu is $5, you add a non dairy alternative milk- of course it'll be a charge you're used to this but when your total for that alone ends up being +$10, it's quite alarming. Either fix your posted prices or get an iPad like everyone else so your paying customers can feel secure with their purchase. I don't think I am the alone one who feels this way? Super crazy this has actually been their system for some time now. FIX THIS. You look like you can't be trusted. read more

The Owner of Palermo unnecessarily took his anger out on me over having other coffee shops as competition. I am somebody who likes to "spread the wealth" and support multiple businesses when I can. Today, my sister and I decided to get a coffee at Caje, and after sitting there a while, decided that the macaroons from Palermo would be a nice pairing. We bought a few pastries & sat at the tables outside to eat them. While my sister was ordering more pasties, the owner was getting off work and spoke to me in the most rude & unprofessional tone, it actually repulsed me. The owner did not even start with "hello" like a normal person would start an interaction, he said, "Throw that cup away, these are our tables". I was understanding at first as he didn't know I was a customer yet, so I explained I purchased macaroons and that we were ordering more, we definitely spent at least $20. The owner continued speaking to me in the most hateful tone, implying that I was stupid and tasteless for going to Caje for coffee. He then continued his rant, tearing down Caje, saying, "I don't know why people go there all the time, the coffee is trash". Not saying you need to jump for joy at a competing business close by, but there was no need to be disrespectful to another business that helps make downtown great. Instead of reflecting on how he can improve his coffee (which is sour or burnt tasting all of the times I've purchased it there), he's tearing down others. If what I've heard from past and present employees is still true, this man knows nothing about coffee and does not train them to make it, he only cares about the gift area. I will also add that it was completely empty on the outside tables, as it was chilly from the rain yesterday, and it was around 3 pm, so he just wanted to yell at me for fun. I can't help but think he saw me as an easy target to take his anger out on since I'm a Latina in my 20's who he thought was alone & I would genuinely bet he would've kept walking to his car with his messy briefcase if I were an older man. Needless to say, I will NEVER be supporting this business again, as the Owner himself could not even treat me with basic human decency. read more

THIS is definitely the place to go for in the area. Friendly staff. Sit on the outside patio for the breeze. Sit inside if you love the smell of coffee I tried the coconut, hazelnut and mocho Gelati this time around. Quite tasty. You can savor the lush mocha flavor. Tastes like real coffee. The hazelnut is clustery... needs more cream in the mix to counter the powdery hazel. Texture lesson: If you've ever put peanut butter in a blender with water to make a dipping sauce, you know what I'm talking about. You need to add more liquid to smooth it out. Anyway, there is paid, metered parking all around. Pay at the pay station vibe. It's a touch $$$$ pricy, but I like this place. I'll be back. read more

I've been here only twice or so, and I went back today for a coffee with my husband. He ordered the lavender mocha extra hot with coconut milk and I order myself a Mexican mocha extra hot. We really enjoyed their coffee. And got ourself a slice of carrot cake to share and enjoy inside the coffee shop. The atmosphere was great, it was popping as sat down , people entered to grab some gelato. We were too full from our dinner otherwise we would have tried some. The gelato options looked tasty.
