I totally forgot the names of our meals, but the food was oh so delicious . I can't wait to return on our next visit. The chicken dish (according to hubby) was excellent. The chicken was well-seasoned, moist, and perfectly cooked. The vegetables and rice were a great complement to the meal, offering a fresh balance to the plate. Highly recommended for anyone who visits! The beef stew was spicy and delicious, packed with bold flavors that cleared up my sinuses with every bite. After three days of bland food during this visit, it was a welcome relief to my palate. The beans and rice paired well with the stew, and I would have brought back leftovers if I were home! I indulged in way too many chips and salsa, which reduced the space for my meal, but it was well worth it. First night in Corpus Christi and the food and service was outstanding. I personally loved that this restaurant was not serving Tex-Mex. The website describes the cuisine as, 100% Mexican with the flavors of the North Pacific Coast of Mexico that includes Sinaloa, Sonora, North and South Baja California. The salsa had a nice flavor and little spice and the chips were crispy and tasty. The serving is very large, enough for leftovers or to share with someone. I absolutely enjoyed my shrimp tacos nicknamed for the former Governor  of California AKA Terminator.  Packed full of flavor!! Don't forget to treat yourself to a margarita, the mango on the rocks for delicious Also,  Stephanie provided excellent service and was very helpful.  Definitely worth a visit again. read more

It's a new year, and Corpus officially has a new "upscale" Mexican restaurant. Welcome, Palenque Grill! You can imagine both my excitement and surprise to learn we would be receiving one of these last Summer (2023). Corpus does not have many "upscale" Mexican restaurants, and given previous experience with the establishment while frequently traveling to Laredo, I knew we were in for a treat. Located at the La Palmera Mall, it is an ideal location for this legendary South Texas chain. Palenque Grill is part of the same restaurant family as that of El Pollo Loco and Taco Palenque. If you have not looked into its history, I highly recommend looking up their "story" on their website. On with the review. It's a really nice "higher end" traditional Mexican restaurant with a great menu and great food. I've been here three (3) times since opening in late December, and have not been disappointed. The food is above average and comes at a great price point for what you're getting. The service and atmosphere are also well above average. While they have just opened, and I am sure there will be some servicing and managerial issues that need to be ironed out over time, it looks like they are off to a great start. Also worth mentioning is the expansive and modern bar area, and what looks like great margarita and cocktail offerings. Since I have sworn off margaritas for some time (too much sugar), you'll have to be the judge if they are as good as they look. Anyway, as I said in the opening, it's a new year. So with that, my hopes are for nothing more than the success of Palenque Grill. Since many of those visiting Corpus inevitably visit La Palmera, should that be you, consider giving this place a shot over the commercial chains. I doubt you'll be disappointed! read more

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Palenque Grill serves up some tasty Mexican food and the restaurant atmosphere has a nice vibe[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]], but unfortunately, our experience was overshadowed by poor customer service. From the start, things were slow: we waited 20 minutes just for chips and another 10 before flagging down a manager to ask for water, drinks, and an appetizer. After explaining that we hadn't seen a waitress yet, the manager assured us he'd help. When our waitress finally arrived, she asked if we'd been helped. We explained that the manager had supposedly taken care of our drink and appetizer order, and we proceeded to place our food orders as well. Despite finishing our drinks, there was no sign of the waitress for refills, and we waited an additional 40 minutes before she returned to ask if we'd received our food--which we hadn't. Eventually, our meals arrived, but our friends' orders were still missing. The waitress apologized and said she'd rushed their meal, but it still took another 10 minutes. By then, the delay had taken a toll on our overall experience. The food itself was enjoyable and had authentic flavors, but the lack of attention and slow service made it hard to fully appreciate. If Palenque Grill could improve its service and ensure timely orders, it would be a great spot for a Mexican meal. However, based on this visit, the dining experience was disappointing, and we felt neglected. read more

Let's start with the service, hostess addressed us right away, very cordial. Our wait staff Clarence aka ninja was amazing. He gave us the trio of salsa's to sample, explained the menu items recommended bar drinks. Overall great experience. Food was flavorful, fajitas were tender. Met a friend for lunch here this afternoon. The ambiance was classy and elegant. The bar is beautiful and although we didn't order drinks, the ones going out to other customers looked really good. When we first arrived they greeted us nicely and took orders for our drinks. We ordered margaritas and water. We got our water and took about 25 minutes to receive three margaritas. We finally placed our orders. About 35 minutes later we received have of our main dishes since we were a party of four. My wife's order didn't come yet nor mine. When she finally got her mine was not delivered and was told it was be out soon. Finally 45 minutes into service I received an underdone beef fajitas on a cast iron skillet that was not even sizzling. I told them that the steak was still raw in the middle and returned it. Now about 20 minutes later I received a hot sizzling plate of beef fajitas and shrimp with burnt onions and way over cooked beef fajitas. Manager stated he was sorry and that I didn't have to pay for my food. They made many excuses as to why food was late and subpar. I have been to this restaurant many times in Laredo at the original restaurant and it is amazing. This one in corpus is laughable at best and complete let down. What a shame. read more

Let me first state the positive. If you want to enjoy a nice atmosphere and friendly staff then you're good to go. The bar is located centrally and well stocked for variety. The main entrees are good but the rice/bean sides can be a put off. So food wise it's okay but definitely better options though out the city at a much palatable price point. We went to entertain clients so it fit the need for that. But as far as taking the family out I would consider another option. Drinks and appetizers all day. read more

Absolutely fantastic service and the food was delicious and prepared so quickly! They bring out complimentary refried beans with chorizo and this awesome roasted tomato salsa! Not many places you can get a delicious margarita flight for under $20 with four signature margaritas. Try the Mar y Tierra grilled plate! So tender and flavorful! The Elote is also fantastic and seasoned perfectly! It hurts me to write this review. The last time I reviewed a Palenque grill it was a five star. Unfortunately this one is not. I have included the photos to show everyone how my meal was. To start, the service was amazing from being greeted to being sat down. I was expecting a long wait since this is a new establishment. But it was not. The hostess was amazing and my waitress I would like to say was great. I took my daughter for a meal. My daughter and I went for lunch and ordered two entrees, an appetizer and two drinks. The total was $95+ after tax. I would like to say the guacamole was amazing. I did not take a picture. I was a little Confused as the menu stated it's mixed. The guacamole ingredients were all separate, not mixed. I ordered a margarita with a corona in it. My daughter ordered a specialty drink on the menu. This is where I hit a problem. My margarita, or subarita, was half full. I would like to express this was a $14 drink. I questioned this and it was stated to me that the bartender explained that's how it is prepared there. I have included a picture of the prepared drink. To be honest I was ripped off. I did voice my opinion on the shortage of my beverage. My daughter received her drink. Hers was great as well as the food. The food was slightly pricey but is worth the money. Unfortunately the entire experience was subpar. If you view the pictures, you will understand why. I'm a firm believer in paying for something that is worth it. But this is the first time ever that I have been to a Palenque Grill from San Antonio to Laredo where I felt taken advantage of. For the record I paid the entire bill with no complaints and I tipped my waitress well as she was amazing. read more

I wanted to really like this place since Corpus has so few dining options, but.... First of all, the excessively loud music when I walked in. I was expecting something more low key, maybe some quiet soft music (boleros, romantic, classic Spanish). Nope. The menu items are PRICEY!! The cheapest entrees are $19. If you order a parillada plate for 2, it costs $50!, more than buying 2 individual plates. The frozen Margarita was $12 and tasted funny (possibly the syrup that they use). The waitress and the management are very nice and more than willing to please their customers. They will introduce more menu items over time. read more

First time here, cobar, Adrianna, and Michael were really friendly and got our drinks and food order in quickly. They talked to us, made our experience here so great. Joe, came to check on us and was the sweetest person ever. The one bad thing we experienced was the other rude blonde hair bartender. She kept pointing at us at the bar, cussing, made us feel very unwelcome, called the other bartenders morons and kept talking about her problems in front of us while we're trying to enjoy our night out. We ordered the parrillada for two with beef. It was great - cooked and seasoned well. My husband, our son and I shared and we still had some left over. It is a little pricey but it was a good amount of food. I wasn't a fan of the rice - but the beans were great. The biggest disappointment of the evening was my cucumber martini - it had no flavor and I wished I'd ordered a margarita. Our server and what I assume was the manager were both great.
