If you want a cool vibe and aesthetic for date night, this place ticks the boxes for a great night…read moreout at the movies - especially in the boutique when all other gold class cinemas feel aged, dirty and just a bit seedy. Just eat before you go!! The food was so bad even the kids weren't into it. This was opening week for the boutique so I expected better. Honestly felt like returning it but just wasn't getting friendly vibes from staff either. The alcohol selection was good so go movie+drinks. Hold the food.

Wallis Picadilly oddly feels like it's an older cinema complex, but it's not so long ago since it…read morewas renovated - I guess it's fair to say that the 'art deco' styling has been effective. I was a little disappointed to find that the Picadilly doesn't offer frozen slushies as drinks - maybe that's just in their competitor cinemas, or maybe it's a choice here at the Picadilly, but the frozen red slushie is a big part of my cinema ritual - I can stay home and watch a dvd on a big screen if I just want a big cup of diet coke - oh, yeah, where's the Coke Zero, too??? The complex is very clean, and the seats were uber comfortable - particularly compared to the somewhat cattle class seating in a megaplex, there was as much leg room here as there is in my Statesman. Nothing quite like the Gold Class offerings of the competitors, but you can get a good meal and movie package here, too. Sound was good, crisp, loud and clear - I didn't really feel a full surround sound experience here, but that may well have been the movie - "We Bought a Zoo" isn't the latest action blockbuster either :) Ticket prices... well... they're fair... I personally think all cinema's are overpriced for what they offer these days, but when they're all overpriced you get to live with it, right?? For the same price for a family of four we could have bought two full price DVD's and had them forever... why am I going to the cinema again??

When taking my mother shopping, I sometimes need a little respite. What better way to waste a few…read morehours than a movie? I love the location of this cinema, and that I can make a day out of coming to this centre, because we don't live very close. As I flatly refuse to pay of $20 for a movie ticket, I haven't tried the Gold Lounge here. I'm just one of the masses, and I'm happy enough with that. The seats are new and comfortable, and the place is well-looked after and cleaned so you don't have to watch the movie along with other peoples' mess. As a concession, the $14.50 isn't too bad, and the $17 adult price is average I suppose, but it still feels like a lot. I go here when I'm in the centre and if on impulse I want to see something fun (like Puss In Boots :D) but I wouldn't make the trip, and would normally hang out for Nova $6 Mondays.

Being a rare movie goer, I never really make the trek down here for a lesser known cinema company…read more Although their cinema is new, big screens, good sound and clean inside, I did go to Gold Lounge once and I will probably never go again, considering Marion is so much better. We payed heaps extra to exclusively be seated in a cinema and be treated very well. But our seats were just sectioned off in a normal cinema so we felt as though we were one of the plebs with loud noises and popcorn. The food was ok, nothing spesh and ridiculously priced and the waiters coming out always disrupts you and they get in the way. Honesty, go to Marion, it's much better.

Before the introduction of the megaplex, most of Adelaide's cinemas looked like the Capri in this stunning deco building with its lovingly restored interior. This beautiful Art Deco style cinema was originally opened in 1941 and hasn't really changed much over the years - as an old time movie buff I find this fact incredibly comforting. In the late 1970's the cinema was purchased by the Theatre Organ Society of Australia and it's these guys who have kept both the theatre and its centrepiece, the pipe organ, in state of the art condition. In 2003 the Theatre Organ Society won a commendation in the Edmund Wright Heritage Award for their efforts. While the organ isn't my thing, you have to appreciate the passion of the people who do love it. I've taken older family members to the cinema who have been clearly been transported back to their own childhood when they listen to the organ play. Over the years I've been to the Capri to see Hollywood blockbusters and Independent Releases and the theatre itself is available to hire for screenings and functions. If you want to make a night out of it of your movie experience at the Capri take advantage of their movie / dinner deals in conjunction with the Goodwood Hotel.

Pricing is on par with other cinemas and while it doesn't have the high tech digital equipment experience, movies come to life on the single large screen. The seats are comfy are authentic to the past-era of cinema film and the snacks are what you would expect at any other cinema. Capri even has an upper balcony for viewing from high angles. I have not tried the upper balcony but I presume it would be quite nice.
