Wallis Picadilly oddly feels like it's an older cinema complex, but it's not so long ago since it was renovated - I guess it's fair to say that the 'art deco' styling has been effective.
I was a little disappointed to find that the Picadilly doesn't offer frozen slushies as drinks - maybe that's just in their competitor cinemas, or maybe it's a choice here at the Picadilly, but the frozen red slushie is a big part of my cinema ritual - I can stay home and watch a dvd on a big screen if I just want a big cup of diet coke - oh, yeah, where's the Coke Zero, too???
The complex is very clean, and the seats were uber comfortable - particularly compared to the somewhat cattle class seating in a megaplex, there was as much leg room here as there is in my Statesman. Nothing quite like the Gold Class offerings of the competitors, but you can get a good meal and movie package here, too.
Sound was good, crisp, loud and clear - I didn't really feel a full surround sound experience here, but that may well have been the movie - "We Bought a Zoo" isn't the latest action blockbuster either :)
Ticket prices... well... they're fair... I personally think all cinema's are overpriced for what they offer these days, but when they're all overpriced you get to live with it, right?? For the same price for a family of four we could have bought two full price DVD's and had them forever... why am I going to the cinema again?? read more
