Unlike most places, the donuts are really tiny and yeast-raised, whereas other spots are cake donuts. They're not bad and are different. Definitely eat them fresh and hot. I haven't been to many orchards and farms in the Boston area, but I decided to stop by this one to get some apples and donuts. A lot of the farm is closed off due to COVID (you can't pick your own apples but you can purchase already picked ones). The current area that's open to guests is relatively small but serves what you might need for the fall season. I don't think most people spend more than half an hour here. You can explore a small pumpkin patch, purchase some mini donuts and hot apple cider, and buy fall-themed decorations. I purchased two dozen mini donuts for $12.00. These are pretty small; I think one adult could easily finish a dozen. I also bought a bag of McIntosh apples for $9.99 and a cup of hot apple cider for $2.25. Five years I've been buying Christmas trees and drooling over the homemade mini donuts. It doesn't matter if it's busy or not (mostly bustling) you will be greeted with smiles and welcomes from the hard working young men and women. Everyone of them is hustling around helping everyone. It literally takes me five minutes (sometimes less) to find the most perfect tree. Within seconds someone comes to you and asks if you found the right tree. They give you the ticket and take the tree to have it perfectly cut and netted for the trip home. While at the barn to purchase you can buy just about anything you need (tree bag, wreaths, Charlie Brown Christmas trees, tree stands, etc.). Don't forget to get hot cider and the hot, fresh donuts are delectable! As soon as you are done, the tree is ready and waiting for you with a eagerly waiting helper ready to put your tree on your car and rope it on or load it into your car. Every tree I have ever purchased has been perfect in every way, never has ever been an issue with bugs. I have always wanted a fake tree, but just can't do it. This is a cute farm if you don't want to travel far from Boston to grab some delicious apple cider donuts or pumpkins. They have a wide selection of pumpkins, varying from sizes as well. It's by the pound, but they're reasonably priced. Their apple orchards are closed off since they recently just planted their trees in 2016. It's definitely a kid friendly place and I loved how they had small candy pumpkins to pick from. At the store, they have a wide selections of apple bags to purchase like McIntosh, Gala, Honey Crisp, and Macoun. They also sell apple cider jugs to take home and delicious pies! Their apple cider donuts are delicious, crispy on the outside but fluffy and soft on the inside. It's slightly coated with cinnamon sugar, which adds a slight sweetness to it. Overall, it's a kid friendly place to be at. I would come if I was in the area, but if you're looking to go actual apple picking, wait a couple more years or go somewhere else. This place is super cute! Perfect for the fall pumpkin season. My kids loved it. It was nice and peaceful. I like that it wasn't over packed or super crazy the time we went. It's like we had the whole place to ourselves and could enjoy without having to fight off crowded lines to check out. I will be coming here yearly for our family pumpkins. I purchased a bag of Macoun apples from the farm store and got really disappointed. They were NOT fresh! This farm doesn't grow its own apples but the sign said they get them from an orchard in NH. So, there was the expectation of these apples to be fresh. They were NOT. Fresh Macouns are a wonderful treat, just bursting with a complex mix of flavors - difficult to describe but you know it when you taste it. But it has to be fresh! This great taste fades rather quickly in storage. The apples I bought tasted like "store" apple - just flat apple taste. So I paid money for orchard fresh apples and got "store bought" product. So for fresh apples, this is not a place to go. Actually, I got fresher tasting apples at Wegmans and for less money. read more

The most adorable family farm! This is the only place I would get my pumpkins for Halloween when I lived in Boston. The drive up here was so beautiful especially during the fall because of all the foliage. Pumpkins aside, they have the best apple cider donuts I have ever tasted. We'll never come back. Outrageous cost for a pre cut tree...there isn't even a nice experience to justify spending that much. For the cost of a tree we will keep for 4 weeks, I could have taken the family to a very nice expensive outing that would include lunch!! There are many other options to get a beautiful tree to decorate and enjoy with your family at a better price. We came here to cut our Christmas tree down this year, we didn't end up cutting a tree down because the trees were smaller than what we needed for our living room we found the most beautiful perfect Christmas tree! Want to support a local farm when it comes to getting your Christmas tree and not a big box store? This is your place. We've been going here for a few years because my boyfriend is a Canton firefighter and wants to support a local business in his work area. For trees you have two options: cut down your own (you can walk up the hill and select your tree and they'll chop it down for you). Super local! OR you can buy one of the pre-cut trees ready to go in the parking lot. The quality is much better and you get a better variety. The only catch is that most of these trees aren't local, they too are shipped in from another state, so not much different than a tree you would get from a big box store, but at least the $ is going to the local farm and not a chain, and it supports them during the winter months when their income is very limited. When you check out you can also have the option to purchase wreaths, smaller trees, pine decorations, and hot chocolate/hot cider and cookies. I appreciate them having the hot cider (now if only they would offer a vegan cookie!). During the summer they offer a CSA, so if you are in Canton consider purchasing a share and getting your veggies from them. There aren't many local farms around anymore, so it's always great to go out of your way to keep them alive, and the green space from being developed for condos. read more

We really enjoyed our short visit to this farm! Not going to lie, the real attraction was the doughnuts (made to order, $6 per dozen mini size). And they did NOT disappoint. Nothing feels more "fall" than eating warm doughnuts on picnic tables next to hundreds of orange pumpkins. This place works for us because it allows for a short visit (imperative with toddlers). No taking a mandatory "hayride" to a pumpkin patch (and paying the price of a latte for each member of our family to do so.) Then selecting overpriced pumpkins to bring home. This place is free to enter, parking is easy and right next to the pumpkins. Pumpkin prices are reasonable, and if it's your thing, you can sip on hot cider while soaking up the essence of fall. We'd certainly go back for the doughnuts (we have enough pumpkins for the season, thanks). read more

Pakeen is Queen (hey, in my ideal world, we live in a matriarchy)! Visiting Pakeen this year to find our tree was such a delight that we will definitely be making it a tradition. Given it's proximity to Boston, which is a plus, it is really busy. But it is very well run and deserves the bustling business. Christmas trees? Check. Wreathes? Check. Snacks and warm drinks? Check. Christmas music? Check. Efficient and helpful staff? Check. Dog and kid friendly? Check. We ended up picking a balsam fir from their humongous selection of imported pre-cut trees. If you want a tree in any shape or size, they've got it. We wanted a tall, skinnier tree to fit our designated tree spot, and we found one so easily while sipping on some hot chocolate. A month later, the tree is still so full and beautiful. It's the fullest, most fragrant, and longest-lasting tree we've ever had, and we have experience purchasing trees from other small businesses, farms, and big box stores. This tree was soaking up water for weeks--a sign that the trees were really quite fresh. I wish we could keep it for next year, but that is really not how real trees work, is it? ;-P The prices are also really reasonable for real trees--especially given the exceptional quality. Large real trees can be expensive, so we were prepared to pay double what they charged us. What a pleasant surprise! The only con is that they ran out of live trees so quickly! It would have been nice to have picked and cut down our own tree, but we were too late. We visited the Saturday morning of the second weekend after Thanksgiving, and almost all of the trees above 5 ft were gone. Call us snobs, but the ones remaining were a little too 'special' for us. :) It was still really fun to wander the Christmas tree fields (Is that the correct term? We go here every year for our xmas tree and today after thanksgiving day when we get there they are charging $25 extra for a tree (early bird tree fee) because its a day after thanksgiving due to discouraging crowd! I really don't understand this Covid business model. Its not about the extra fee charge. Its just bad business model. We will never return here for our seasonal shopping. read more

I went to Pakeen Farms yesterday for the first time for my Christmas tree. I I was really impressed with the the overall look of the farm and the way it was organized. They have already cut trees to choose from as well as several fields of trees that you can choose and cut down. When you get there, if you want to choose your tree to cut, you are given a tag to put on the tree you ultimately select. At that point, you can look for an employee (they were all over the place) to either have them cut the tree for you or to supply you the saw to do it yourself. They had MANY trees to choose from and to be honest, there were quite a few that were "perfect" in terms of shape and fullness. I was really impressed and it was not easy to make the final choice!! I was impressed with the variety of tress both short and long needle as well as several types of spruce and fir. The price for the tree was 75.00 plus tax, and seemed consistent with other tree farms I investigated. They had hot chocolate and cookies in the main barn which was quite nice. They also had wreathes and garlands for sale as well. The staff were really helpful and they bind the trees and strap them to your car as well. All in all, a great experience - I will be back next year!! read more

We got our very first Christmas tree here! It was busy but we were able to find parking, grab a tree, and check out easily and quickly! Kind of interested in the cut your own, but I want to say it was like $89 for any size tree and we only have a little space in our apartment. They made everything super simple - picked out a Balsam Fir, small-medium for $59, and carried it over to the netting station. And I took the ticket stub to pay at the checkout. From there, the employee was very friendly and helpful and tied up the tree on the car roof. You don't need to bring any of your own supplies. We tipped him a few bucks, not sure if that is customary, but our tree made it the 30 minute trip back to Boston just fine! Every time I go into the living room I get a nice Christmas whiff! They also had some nice wreaths, ranging from $19 to maybe $55. I was tempted but refrained! They also carry Blue Balsam and Douglas Fir. I honestly have no idea about price comparisons, but when we picked up a metal tree stand at Home Depot (I think for like $40), they had some precut trees for $45 ish but we like ours better! The farm did also carry plastic tree stands for $35 but I think you can find a better deal elsewhere. But one stop shopping if you are looking for convenience. Everyone masked, fairly crowded on a Sunday morning, but outdoors, hand sanitizer available. read more

I've been getting a CSA farm share from Pakeen Farm for a number of years, and recommend it highly. It is a small, local farm. For $20/wk (single share) or $30/wk (family share), I can get my share of farm fresh veggies from the harvest each week. The reminder email comes each week, often with a recipe for those items which I am wondering what I can possibly make (garlic scape pesto). The owners/family are wonderful, and I'm proud to eat local delicious veggies. Good for earth, good for the economy, good for me. read more

We went on the day after it opened up for the season. The hot apple cider donuts were delicious, and the hot chocolate was the perfect temperature, not too hot, not too cold. The trees were good quality, but a low selection for cutting them down yourself. The atmosphere was wonderful! It really gets you into the Christmas spirit, listening to Christmas music and smelling the trees. If cutting down your own trees isn't your style, there's pre-cut down ones for you to pick from. Definitely not the place to go if you want to cut your own Christmas tree... unless you'd like one that's 12 inches tall. There were zero even close to reasonably-sized trees.
