One of few places open for dinner on the Loughton high street on a Sunday. The meal started with some really good prawn crackers with two sauces on the side. Maybe the best prawn crackers even and quite addictive. Malaysian spicy noodles with chicken was pretty good. A large portion with good heat level - marked with three chilies on the menu. Larger pieces of chicken would improve the dish though.
The pad Thai was a bit different, with stronger emphasis on the lemon and ginger, quite a tangy thing. Not bad, just different from the traditional way. You get four large shrimps in this dish. Ended the meal with coconut ice cream. It was very hard, so you need to hold it down while eating it so it doesn't fly around. As expected, this was from their supplier. It comes in a halved coconut shell. The dining room is very pleasant with red lanterns hanging from the ceiling and some nice decorative motives on the walls. Mellow instrumental music in the background. Looks small from the outside, but it stretches long into the back. Staff were quite informative and diligent regarding allergens. About 60percent of the menu is Chinese and the rest Malaysian. Plenty of options below 10 pounds. read more
