Like every en vogue Asian restaurant, there were a myriad of cocktail options and the drinks were reasonably priced and good... my date had a martini, and he was impressed with the way they'd put it together. If this is how they treat their guests, I can only hope the real princesses of India showed more grace than the so-called hospitality here. The restaurant had only three groups - a party of eight, two friends at another table, and us. And yet, despite the light crowd, we were treated as if we were invisible. No welcome, no warmth, no service. The waiter passed by us repeatedly, without so much as a glance, while tending to the other tables. Was it exhaustion? Indifference? Or something far uglier--blatant discrimination? The middle-aged, fair-skinned manager (who looked more suited for the gym than the hospitality industry) barely acknowledged our presence. He never visited our table, never asked if we needed anything, and at the end he did but when we left, he didn't even muster a simple 'thank you' or 'goodnight'--basic courtesies in any decent restaurant. To make matters worse, tables were left unclean, staff were more interested in wiping glasses and bowls and disappearing into the kitchen than actually tending to guests. It made me wonder: if they can treat us this way, what would they do to the citizens of this country? Look, I understand hospitality is demanding. Long hours, constant service--but this was just a buffet. All they had to do was clear plates and check in on customers, yet even that seemed too much to ask. Respect should be given to all, regardless of nationality or race. What we experienced was beyond disappointing--it was insulting. This was, without a doubt, the worst night we've had at a restaurant, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. If you value basic human decency, avoid this place. They do desserts, but you wont have any room left. You are asked by Taz the owner and his team if you want poppadoms when you arrive, these are great if your waiting for friends to join, but these are not inclusive of the buffet fee. The drinks are good here too with Carlsberg at below £2 per pint and Cobra on Draught.
