The Monkhams - All the empty tables around. If fact there were a few in the "quiet" section, and two or three tables with people the other side of us.

We decided on the spur of the moment to eat out last Tuesday, the 26th July. It's a GreenKing pub…read moreand they're usually OK. But honestly? This is the worst food and service I've had in many years, if I could give them a zero I would! We went into the pub which Elle had visted previously (although only for drinks), and had wanted to try their food out. It was 5ish and when we got there it definitely was not busy. There were some tables with couples close by, a couple of workmen at the bar and a game of pool happening, but that was it. The problems started when we ordered our food! They had virtually nothing available! No burgers, no fish dishes, nothings but scampi (we summise from all the plates we saw passing us as we waited) and curry (although they were out of naan bread). So we decided to go for the curry and ordered it on the app. £18 including drinks, which we were ok with because we were hungry. So we sat back and waited for our order. The drinks came out after five minutes I had a heineken and Elle had a very watered down cherry pepsi. We continued waiting... A woman with her three kids went up the stair beside us to use the toilets, then came back again. The woman took her two girls back to their table but decided she needed to use the baby changing toilets for her third younger child. The toilet was right next to us. She took her little boy who was around 2 or 3 years old and left the door open! Yes, she started changing the boy, shouting louding "Ewww it stinks!" Great...the stench of faeces permeated the whole area. She finished up with her boy and eventually shut the door and locked it. Needless to say, this didn't help with the ambience of our visit. We continued to wait for our food...At 30 minutes I got up to check on what was happening with our food. There was 1 bar person, and she was serving the now 3 or 4 patrons who had come into the pub for beer. I didn't wait too long, as my wife called to me to tell me that our food had finally turned up at the table. Look at the accompanying photos, it really was NOT at all busy, why it took 30 minutes, they didn't say perhaps they were scraping through the bottom of an old bin for last weeks chicken? Because that's basically how my tasted. The curry sauce was OK, the poppadoms had a very weird cheesy / fishy smell and taste. The chicken in the curry was obviously microwaved or cooked and left under a heat lamp for 12 hours because it was hard and over cooked on the edges - crunchy almost. We were both hungry but couldn't eat this horrible excuse for food. Extremely disappointing and close to inedible. I didn't bother to tell our waitress it was awful as I didn't want to wait another 30 plus minutes for them to get our food order right! We ended up going to a local off-licence for dessert. Bottom line. If you want beer then this place is OK. If you want edible food and drink avoid them at all costs, literally ANYWHERE would be better!

Honestly the worst food ive ever been too shy to complain about. Will make any victim feel sick or…read moreat least worse off for consuming. A waste of money, time and alot if chewing.
