I was looking for a painter to put a fresh coat on all interiors of my house, and I'm super happy to have found Painting Pro. This was not the easiest project as the house had a lot of wallpaper that needed to be removed first. I must have contacted about fifteen different painters around Orange County. Phil came by, walked through the entire house with me, asked me a lot of good questions, and took the time to explain the pros and cons of various choices that I had to make about the job. Because of his attention to detail and his competitive quote, I decided to go with Painting Pro over any of the others. We had moved into our house in July and come January, my husband had yet to make plans with his dad and uncle to paint... So I took matters into my own hands and started looking up painters. Painting Pro was highly recommended here on Yelp and local. I called just after the new year and booked an appointment for that weekend when my husband would be home. Phillip was running late but called as soon as he was out of his previous appointment to let us know. That was pleasant. When he got there, we talked through everything I wanted done and the stages we would do it in. Then we started looking at colors to choose from. Phillip wasn't too much of a help when asking for suggestions. Which I can appreciate because maybe we don't have the same taste. He did offer some suggestions when it came to accent wall colors once we had primary colors selected. We made plans for him and his crew to come out the following week to get started on Phase 1. Things went very smooth on the first day. Unfortunately things after that got kind of hairy. My husband works nights so usually I would stay to let the painters in on the mornings they came while he slept. There were several times I wasn't called to be told they wouldn't be there until the next day (due to a previous job running behind) - twice I think that happened. Overall we started the process in January and didn't get all done and paid in full with a final walk through until late March. We were Phillip's first credit card paying customers. So while we got a discount for having our first floor painting done (Phase 2) after the upstairs, we ended up having to pay the credit card fee. That was an expected fee - while small, it was still unexpected to have that cost passed onto us. I have determined that while Phillip was really great, did great work, had a great crew - it was difficult for him to manage the large job we had over a long period of time. Maybe if we had gotten everything done in about a week and paid with a check as intended, we would have had a better overall experience. He wasn't terrible by any means... Just left a sour taste in our mouths. read more

I just had painting pro paint the exterior of my house. It was a large job and they did a fantastic job. For the estimate I had about 5 different companies come out and give me an estimate. I thought Phillip's estimate was the most detail oriented and I was also given the impression that he wanted to make sure we were on the same page in terms of what I wanted done. The price was very reasonable when compared to the other estimates I had received. I also knew I was paying for a professional, high quality paint job. For the actual painting, Brandon and Mike came out to paint the house. I initially thought it was going to be a nuisance having two painters around for awhile painting, but I was pleasantly surprised. These guys were very friendly, courteous, and just a pleasure to have met. They were efficient, detail oriented, and did a fantastic job on the house. The job was completed on the time table that we had agreed upon and there definitely was no skimping on details. I did two final walk throughs with Phillip to ensure everything was completed to my satisfaction. During these walkthroughs Phillip pointed out small details that needed to be fixed that honestly, I probably wouldn't have seen by myself. Philip was so wonderful to deal with. I had him come over to price out painting all of the cabinets in our house. It was a big job and would have cost us quite a bit of money. However, after telling him that we plan to rent the house out in a few years, he recommended NOT painting them and leaving them the wood veneer they currently are. I hired Painting Pro to paint the interior of my condo. Based on the Yelp rating, and the fact that the quote was nearly identical to another firm's, I wasn't particularly concerned about letting slip that I was putting my place up for sale. *That was a mistake*. When Philip brought his lead painter Jeff to go over the job, I heard him emphasize to Jeff that this was a "moving" job. Though I was a bit concerned over the remark, I trusted the Yelp reviews and was in a hurry to move. Everyone on the job was very personable. Philip and I had agreed on a one-coat-covers, water-based paint by Behr. When the job began, I heard Jeff mention priming to his co-worker, and I didn't hang over the men as they worked. When they finished, everything seemed fine at first, but had to call them back twice to take care of areas that had been missed and others where wall paint had splashed onto trim. I'd also noticed a shade pulley had been left open, and attempted to close it. It wouldn't, affecting the operation of the blind. It was then I saw that the chain had been replaced backwards, and that the situation would require a repairman. Next I noticed chipping, scraping away, and peeling of the wall paint in a room I use daily. Then I realized a door lock was incorrectly installed by the painter's helper Aaron, and when attempt to fix it failed, I knew another repair person would need to be contacted. I could go on. At this point, I'd run out of time to deal with Painting Pro further, and had everything done myself. It was the lock installer who pointed out that the painter who'd done the door "did a lousy job" and when I asked why, he said they'd put water-based paint over oil-based, pointing out the peeling paint in the area of the lock. I knew that while one-coat paint covers many things, it would still not work if it's water-based placed on oil-based paint. Yelp can't be all about good. It's also to warn people, and that's what's making me take the time to write this. Would Phil and crew do this to you? They did to me. read more

When I am out in public I am as low maintenance as is gets. However, in the privacy of my house I am full on OC Anal ("very picky" to the Layperson). Enter Painting Pro... 1. He gave me a very reasonable quote to paint my house. 2. **Hiring Painting Pro is ALMOST like getting an interior design consultation included in your price for free.** I had picked my colors before getting the quote. However, he made a few color suggestions. Those suggestions unquestionably made my house look MUCH better than if I would have used another painter and had my original colors painted. The other top Yelp painters I got quotes from did not make any color suggestions. 3. He doesn't subcontract out 16 yr old kids that don't speak English. He does all of the work himself. He does a great job and won't leave until you are satisfied. A few other points about Painting Pro... 1. He really specializes in doing it right, not doing it quick. 2. You can 100% trust him. I left him alone in my house for 3 days without seeing him once. 3. When you get your quote from him if you only have a certain amount of time, tell him that up front. The other quotes I got were very quick. However, he is very thorough. I ended up rushing him at the end of my quote. I would unquestionably hire him again and strongly recommend him... even/and especially if you have OC Anal disorder like me. read more

Philip came quickly(!) to give a quote. It was around the same (+/- 10%) as other quotes I had received. The reason I went with Painting Pro was Philip's emphasis on workmanship more than schedule. Since I was in no big hurry to complete the job (painting the entire interior of my 1000 sq ft condo, plus installing new base boards) and was more concerned about quality, it seemed a good fit. It did take a little longer than expected, but not by much. But the quality is 100%. Not only the paint, which is perfect, but the base boards look fantastic, with all of the joints flawless. Philip also did what he calls a baker's dozen by throwing in some things he sees needs to be done, which included installing some crown molding in my kitchen and purchasing and replacing a broken light switch cover which I was having a hard time finding. We differed on our expectation of how long it would take; I thought 4-5 days, it ended up being 2 1/2 weeks. His crew was very courteous and clean, and cared about what was important to us. After the job I found some issues, though - over-spray on some windows, and window planters that had not been painted on the inside. I hesitate to call them back because of the time commitment. First of all, I need to make it clear, I didn't eventually have the painting service from painting pro. 5 start for the estimate service from Philip. Phil deserves the name of a painting pro. He is super patient and very detail to the job that I am inquiring, exterior painting of the house. He walked around with me, asking me what I want first and then explaining how he would do it and more importantly, why doing it that way. I had 6 quotes from different painters, he is the only one goes to that detail of the job. The quote price was under his detail calculation of the painting area and number of windows and so on. He listed what paint will be used, how much is the material, how much is the labor. And he is honest about the time his crew will spend on the job, the warranty he would provide. In all, the more than 1 hr estimate makes me very confident that he would do a perfect job. The price is about 15% higher than other quotes I got. But I would still use his team if the scheduling can fit my plan. Unfortunately, I am not able to wait for 2-2.5 weeks before the job can start. I will definitely try to use Painting Pro next time or refer to my friends. read more
