On arrival, they could not locate my reservation. Person behind the desk was foreign and VERY hard to understand. He repeatedly said I had no reservation. Finally, he called someone on the phone who was able to locate my reservation. IN the meantime, I looked around the lobby: dirty walls, smelled funky, worn carpet, and fraying furniture. This place is nothing like the pictures they post online. By the way: the Best Places rating they brag about online is from 2018! When I spoke to the person on the phone, I told him I did not want to stay and asked if I would be charged if I chose not to stay. He said "NO" I would not be charged. I left and found another hotel in town for my wife and I. Now that I am home, I checked my credit card and see that I was charged the full amount. I called the Motel to discuss and spoke to the same person as before: he lied and said we never talked about canceling and he never said I would not be charged. I am disputing the charge with my bank. Bottom line: this is not a nice place and is staffed with people who only want your money. Read the recent reviews of this property and move on. Love this motel! Owned by two grumpy not really, very loving Florida Gator gents! Dogs welcome. Roomsvare large and extremely liveable. Glassware in the rooms with ashtrays in hand. Goback in time the bathrooms are almost a liveable suite. Huge living room in entrance with sofas, fireplace, etc. You never wanna leave hom here. Ranch restaurant across the street. Wyoming is an unforgiven place. Harder than the Alamo. They want you to "307 full". I found good neighbors and friends here, that I wouldn't trade for anything in the world. First, sorry to say this like I am a racist or something, but I could not understand what the guy was saying. From India I believe. Gave us room 22. Between the front door of 22 and the office is 15 feet. RIGHT. You are not parking in front of your room. Wife opened door, I had already started unloading the truck. Grabbed some bags and entered the room. O.M.Gosh. Smelled like a cigarette bar in there. No doubt in my mind, if we had stayed, they would have tried to charge us $100 for smoking in the room. I am almost sure someone smoked in the room 15 minutes prior to our arrival. I almost instantly had an asthma attack. We went to the office and said no way, give us back our money. No can do, you call expedia!, Called expedia, no can do you call hotel! See where I am going with this. To give us a room in that condition and then want to move us to another room? We were already having a challenging day. I booked the Paintbrush Motel because their info said "Pet Friendly ". When we arrived Micky assisted us in checking in. When I advised we had our dog, after checking, he said they had one pet friendly room left. Micky was very personable and it wasn't his fault...but I hope they consider advising some of their booking sites that just because they are pet friendly, a room isn't guaranteed. There is a $10 charge per night which is reasonable based on our recent experiences. They have a small lawn in fron of the property and encourage pets use it. They keep a bucket and poop scoop available there for proper disposal. This motel is an older property and at first glance you might not consider stopping but a closer look will reveal some recent paint and some nice touches like a bench seat outside nearly every door. It's all non -smoking and there is no smell of a room smoked in previously. They have room air conditioners and I was so thankful our room (#39) had it mounted in the back of the room instead of right in front of the bed(s). The room was spotless, sink and vanity in an area before the bathroom. Toilet, shower and tub separate. Complimentary shampoo, lotion and bar soap along with a Make-Up Wipe. Our room had one queen bed and was large and well laid out. Micro & refrigerator-alarm clock, flat screen TV. Small round table and 2 chairs also-a nice touch. Coffee, coffee pot and real coffee mugs provided. There is a restaurant/bar across the parking lot making it wuite convenient. Also multiple fast food within walking distance. Riverton is a small town but there is a WalMart here. So why not 5 stars? Well I would rate the Paintbrush 4.5, so close to perfect. The one and only issue was some scattered trash in the parking area....which could have been recent. ( Humans can be so disrespectful! ), but the main offenders were a couple of garbage cans that were placed to be convenient for travelers, (which is very thoughtful!) in the corners of the walkway in front of this U-shaped one story property . They were filthy and really stood out since the rest of the place is so well cared for. Last but not least, The Paintbrush Motel has been family owned and operated for years. In our travels we enjoy using local proprietors vs. big box. In this time of Covid it's especially important to help support local businesses! If you're ever here in Riverton we recommend you try a stay. You get a Big Bang for you buck. read more

What a wonderful place to stay and the price VERY reasonable. The beds were firm but not hard and the pillows comfortable. One of the best nights sleep in a long time. Plenty of hot water that did NOT take forever to reach the room. Nothing fancy but oh so clean and comfortable. A small family owned business, along with the favorable Yelp reviews is why I tried the place out. I wanted to support local business other than motel chains. The two brothers were extremely hospitable and helpful in directing me in activities that I wanted to do in the area. I left my camera charger and battery in the room on checkout. The brothers called me right away, unlike other motels that wait for you to contact them. I was about 20 minutes out of town. It was worth it to me to turn around and get it as I was traveling for several weeks. I have been associated with the tourism business for decades. Not a safe place to stay. Mr. Patel is not a good person and doesn't care about his customers. I misunderstood and thought checkout was 11am, went to wash my car in the morning (car was filthy after being on the road for weeks), left all belongings in hotel room to clean inside of car. When I came to check out and pick up my stuff everything was gone. Mr. Patel acted like he didn't know anything and pretty much didn't care that everything I owned was missing. The cleaning lady took everything out of my room. Laptop, important documents, clothing, hygiene products, everything was gone. Mr. Patel told the cleaning lady to give my stuff back, she acted like she didn't know where anything was even though she was the only one who took everything out 30 mins. ago! It took an hour to retrieve all my luggage. I have never felt so vulnerable and scared. It was like they held my luggage hostage and I couldn't say or do anything but beg and plead for them to give me my things back. Mr. Patel was rude and yelled at me as I sobbed and begged for my belongings. The cleaning lady (white blonde woman) said, "What the f--- do you want me to do?!" as I begged her to give me all my stuff back. I was missing a white backpack with my laptop and a black purse. She pretended not to know where those last bags were. I was on the verge of calling the police when she suddenly found them far away from my other bags. She opened my bags! When she gave my laptop bag to me it was already opened and she said, "If I would've stolen anything it would've been your laptop." As a single female traveler, I've never felt so unsafe. It was my first time in Wyoming and I stayed at many hotels during my time there. I chose Paint Brush because it was cheap and regret it to this day. I wish I would have stayed somewhere else and paid more money for safety and peace of mind. The way Mr. Patel and his staff treated me was like garbage. They do not care about you as a person or customer. The rooms are filthy, look at the carpet along the walls and you'll see accumulated dirt and dust. The mattress is stained and filthy. Please do not take your family here, you are better off staying elsewhere. This is a shady business run by a shady person and shady staff. I would warn anyone staying here to lock their cars and watch their belongings. read more

Paintbrush Motel is a no-frills budget lodging that is a good value. Staff were friendly and responsive to my needs. Room was clean, and housekeeping did an excellent job. When I was there, the motel seemed to be mostly used by workers, so for the most part it is quiet. Although, the sound of trucks coming and going from the parking lot can be disturbing. No continental breakfast. I suggest that the housekeeping do a better job bleaching and deep cleaning the sheets because they did have some stains. Recommend for someone who doesn't want to spend a lot on accommodations in Riverton, but also wants a clean, quiet place to stay that is well run. read more

What a gem! My best friend and I were on the last couple of days of a two month road trip, just a few days ago, when we came across the Paintbrush Motel. At this point we felt like we'd seen it all when it came to "affordable" lodging. Needless to say the Paintbrush was an absolute standout in the most positive ways. The property itself is modest, but what it lacks in flare it makes up in warmth, impeccable cleanliness and abundant friendliness. The room felt like you were visiting a beloved family member who had been cleaning for weeks waiting for your arrival. The customer service went far beyond just meeting our initial needs. After checking us in Ron and Gini - the owners (I hope I'm getting the names right) asked us about ourselves, gave us dinner recommendations and the next day gave us turn by turn directions to a more scenic route down to our final destination- they did not disappoint, as a result we fell in love with them and with Wyoming. We have stayed here before and found this to be the same great little place this time around. For $65 a night don't expect the Taj Mahal but do expect a modest but super clean room, very comfortable bed and wonderfully friendly people running the place. We did not know where to stay in Riverton Wy. We chose the Paintbrush, spoke on the phone several times, and after taking to Gini several times on the phone I knew we had made a good choice. I am VERY surprised to be the first reviewer for Paintbrush Motel! My husband and I stopped in between visits to the Badlands and Yellowstone this week, and we really enjoyed our lodging here. The owner/operator was one of the absolute nicest and friendliest we have encountered in any of our travels. He made us feel completely welcome and at home from the moment we walked into the office, even giving us Yellowstone maps and brochures and walking us to our guest room himself. He had an adorable feisty dog, too. We felt the room's price was an excellent value as everything in the room was kept up to impeccable standards. Our room had two queen beds, and of course we only needed one...but it was a Sealy pillow top and very cushy and wonderful. The sheets and pillows and even the room's carpet were so nice it truly felt like home compared to many motels in the same price range. I didn't even think twice about walking barefoot here and that's rare for me! The in-room fridge and coffee maker were great and the A/C worked well, as did the Wi Fi. We like to stay in a lot of kitschy older places that I might not recommend to friends & family with different tastes, but I can safely say that I'd recommend Paintbrush Motel to ANYONE. While very affordable, it was not the absolute cheapest option in this area -- but it was great. It was also close to shopping such as supermarket, liquor, drugstore, and the like. read more

Very clean, friendly, & affordable. I chose this hotel because of the yelp reviews - they're really valuable as a traveler, so I wanted to come here and echo them. The owner was really accommodating and - most importantly - the room was spotless. Super comfy bed too! side note: when I used the shower/sink, the bathroom smelled like sulphur/sewage, though the water was clear. I was gonna knock off a star for what seemed to be a sewage issue until I spoke with a local and found out the water table is full of sulphuric, poisonous gas (H2S) after all of the oil drilling/fracking going on (#banfrackingnow!). Don't fault the hotel - it would happen anywhere in the area. I'm told it's fine to shower in, but I wouldn't drink it. I would still go back despite that issue. It's a gem. read more

We came to Riverton from Ariz to surprise our favorite Uncle for his birthday May 30-June 2, 2014. The owners were very friendly and welcoming to us. We were stranded in Thermopolis due to a booking error from hotels.com. The hotel owner there called the Paintbrush who gave us their last room for less than our stay in Thermopolis. Owner extremely friendly with friendly furry lobby greeters. Room very clean with comfortable beds, soft towels and wifi. The accommodations are fantastic. The rooms are exceptionally clean and very comfortable. As far as friendliness and customer service I rate them 10 stars. Rod and Paul are real nice guys to be around. They truly care about you as a customer and after a few days stay you feel like a friend.
