It's just ok. I booked a BIAB fill and instead of a proper fill the tech just completely filed down my previous BIAB and did a full new layer on top of it. When I questioned this she seemed baffled by my question... The end result looks fine, but it was definitely rushed. I think this salon is fine in a pinch but it's not going to be my go-to. read more

I think I might have just had the best gel manicure of my life. Located in Downtown Geneva, this intimate salon delivers! I discovered Paintbox on instagram and decided to give them a try. I made an appointment online with Olga, based on her beautiful work shown on insta. When you walk in there's an iPad to check in on using your phone number. The salon has minimal decor that is warm and stylish. Olga took her time and I was extremely impressed with her attention to detail. I added on the BIAB treatment to help strengthen my nails--and it's well worth the additional cost. Fun, energetic music played in the background while decorating shows from The Magnolia network streamed on the two televisions. The hand massage with very relaxing. I will absolutely return to try a pedicure. read more

I needed an appointment in tried to make one in Elmhurst via the link in their Instagram and it said it had opening but it wasn't true but that was ok because they were super accommodating and fit me in the Geneva location the same week, this typically would have been a wonderful experience until my polish. The pedicure was initially going fine until it came to the color. I selected a color that looked good on the exhibit but when she polished the first toe i didn't like it. I told her then that I did not like the color on the first toe polished, she insisted that when she finished that the color would look the same way it did on the exhibit, I told her I would feel more comfortable choosing a new color that I knew I liked. She assured me the color would be fine. Then proceeded with the pedicure, I tried two more times during the pedicure to interject. After the pedicure was complete, I absolutely hated the pedicure color. It was the ugliest color on me that I could imagine. I told her that I did not like the color and that I would appreciate if we could change the color she insisted that I chose the color and she did not have time to change the color of my pedicure. I told her that I told her I wanted to change it before she even started the pedicure before she even did the second coat of the first toe and then I tried to get ahead of it because colors look different on different skin tones. she told me that that's the color that I chose and I kept informing her that I told her that I wanted to choose a different color Way before she finished a pedicure. The lady next to her I think told her and some other foreign language to just change my toenail color and she changed my toenail color but the base was done so poorly because she just kind of scraped off the old original polish she put on there, that made the top of the new polish way too thick, and it did not adhere to my toenails properly within two days my toenail polish started chipping. I was going to ignore it and just put some clear polish over it to stop it from chipping and then by day four it was just completely coming off and I paid full price and Still left her a 20% tip in cash, even though I already knew the service had been bad and she was upset that she had to re-polish my toenails and now I have to go pay for a whole new pedicure a week that have lasted a couple of weeks so that was kind of annoying And because of this experience, even though it could've been a nice one, I won't be going there again because I just preferred to patronize my American salons which is hard to find here in Chicago because there's a certain level of hospitality that goes along with our service that we understand And the language barrier doesn't get in the way of quality service. read more

This nail salon is nicely decorated & clean ! The nail artist was very king and sweet . Overall I did not get what I asked for and when I tried to tell this to the nail artist she did not understand and was not able to fix it . I made this appointment months ago so excited to get my nails done for my bridal shower . I booked the appointment for gel with nail art and was so excited to get the bow nail art as it matched the theme of my bridal shower perfectly . I showed the nail artist exactly what I wanted from a picture and overall this is NOT what I got despite me trying to communicate multiple times that my nails were not how I wanted them. Good service. But they take the top layer off your nail every time you go back. Expensive for a no chip. Went 3 times and stopped. Have been trying to get my nails into some kind of manageable shape. They are thin. Brittle. I am so sad. Only remedy go back and get more no chips. Sticking to my guns. Not going back. read more

This is for the elmhurst location. Writing a review because it was just a weird vibe, and I ended up leaving my appt before getting started. You cannot call the nail salon either and they communicate via text which wasn't professional. First, there is no signage at their location so I had trouble finding it. It's located in a strip mall south of Elmhurst and it just looked like it wasn't ready for customers. When I walked in, it was very sterile - all leather in rows and just white walls and frankly I wasn't into the atmosphere. There are about 12 colors and maybe it was my misunderstanding about what they offer but the colors weren't that great and so very little to choose from I was pretty baffled. There is also a pretty bad language barrier and I had asked the tech maysa if this was no chip and lasted two weeks and she said yes. I went to go sit down and she pulled out a green brush with white bristles that looked used and she had to use google translate to explain to me it's used before but they sterilize it and I didn't want to use it. I could visibly see her frustration and confusion why I didn't want to use the gross brush. I have never seen a brush at other establishments and I'm not about to use theirs. Then after not wanting to use the brush I asked once more if this was no chip and how long it lasts and she goes "no, it lasts maybe one week" so I decided this wasn't right for me and I decided to leave. Pretty disappointed and perhaps this wasn't the right match for me, but I think there are some takeaways the business needs to look at. read more

I tried this place at least 4 times. One of the technicians was just rude, you could tell she was annoyed with me, even though I have done absolutely nothing. She kept pushing on my toes and then made a comment like " can you relax because i keep pushing on your toes and i am tired of it". Lol ! I was like what?! Not my fault you guys have somewhat different chairs than all other places and my foot is relaxed as much as it can be relaxed, there is nothing I can do. Atmosphere there is just not friendly, feels like they doing you a favor when is actually vice versa. Not going back. Plus no massage so not worth my sanity and my money. read more

My mom and my daughter went. I had placed both appointments online but they only had one in the system. They did squeeze my daughter in for a minicure...she wanted more of a French with green at the tip. They just painted her nails clear and did the green tip and charged $12 extra. $26 for what she got seemed a bit overpriced. My moms nail tech was not very friendly and was a tad impolite when we said we had the tip, she said just put it on the table, but we weren't sure what table she was referring to. My daughters nail tech was very nice. I was impressed with the work they did overall and will go back. read more
