Located inside of a rustic looking cypress cottage, the modern art adorning the walls may seem out of place. But that is just what makes this place so special. On the day I visited the art on display involved 50s and 60s advertisements made in to modern art. It was completely unexpected, but at the same time, completely cool. The man working the counter was very friendly and knowledgeable. He was also very welcoming despite the two kids I took with me who didn't appreciate the art as much as I did. Maybe one day I will get a gallery show here. Even if I don't I will be sure to keep visiting and check out the real artists that do make the cut to be displayed. If you find yourself in Bay St. Louis, make sure to add Smith and Lens to your list of places to visit.

I loved going down all the rows and seeing them all. Everything from little potted plants, to hanging baskets, ferns, to trees. The best part was the animals though. I searched for a yarn shop in NOLA but this one was the only shop that interested me. So it will be yarn from "near New Orleans" =) I believe that the owner was there when my husband and I stopped by yesterday. We were greeted immediately and enthusiastically by a beautiful little Sheltie and then by the owner soon after. She was very helpful. I had previously written down options for the pattern I'm using and she helped my find exactly what I need. While she wound my yarn we looked around and tried to befriend her dog (unsuccessful). This shop is pretty nice. It is in an old building, is well-lit, and is well stocked. Prices are comparable to prices I've seen at other local yarn stores. I would definitely recommend McNeedle's and would definitely shop here often if I lived in the area.

The entire staff here is very friendly and the front desk staff were very thorough when we initially requested information. They have adapted well to our new world of Covid making sure all students and teachers wear masks and/or face shields and limiting the number of people in the waiting room. When our family had Covid, our daughter was still able to attend her lessons virtually. They have also offered both virtual and on-site recitals for the students to showcase what they have learned. We really loved the on-site recital as well as the adjustments made to ensure Covid regulations were followed. We drive from Slidell weekly for our daughter to attend her lessons and feel it is well worth it.
