BEAUTIFUL 100% My son and I visited here from Louisiana and we spent about 2 hours exploring the entire nursery and enjoying the animals ! The plants I bought I still have ! The elephant ear plant was my favorite so worth it

This review applies to a gentlemen/owner at Banting's. Nowadays it is a rare occurrence (especially…read morehere), I broke down in front of a LaCombe car repair shop that I've been using for 25 years. I was literally stuck there with no way to get home. This repair shop has serviced many of my vehicles over the years and all he could offer me was for me was for me to call a taxi. His mechanic suggested was for me to call Uber. I've never used Uber and in my 40 years of living here never needed to use a taxi. They obviously could care less about me, an old reliable customer who's probably had more then 20 grand work there over the years, plus my new breakdown fix another $1,000+ added to my list of dozens of service needs there over the years. It also happened to be the beginning of Veteran's Day weekend. Which is a somber time and depressing time when I remember my lost buddies in almost 50 years and while serving in country. Now about the rare gentlemen from Banting's Nursery, and his nice big Ford truck with newly mounted new skins. He happened to be sitting there waiting for service and watching me being ignored stuck at the counter for long awhile and desperate for help. Up pop's my knight in shining armor, who offered to take me home. I'm a Viet Vet in declining health and this Godsend did the right thing and offered to take me home. I've been in and out of the VA and 2 St Tammany hospitals 5 times this year (2017). I've helped people in need my whole life, much more then giving one a lift. So, I was deeply hurt but i remembered where live and the selfishness I saw from many people in the aftermath of Katrina and many times over the years. After Katrina most local contractors who do home repairs, such as, well service, masonry work, etc, jacked-up their prices because people were desperate for repairs. After Katrina, when I was in better health, I made 2 trips to Iowa pulling my trailer and Bobcat with my F-350 to help anyone there needing clean-up after their terrible floods that destroyed thousands of homes. The folks there are totally different then here, they actually care about each other and would gladly give a stranger the shirt off their back. I'm not a Saint but I truly believe that I'm my 'brother's keeper' and to 'do unto others as you would have them do unto you', and in that spirit a small but meaningful gesture of kindness from a stranger fulfilled both of those cornerstones of humanity. So on one hand the people that has made plenty of money off me over the years could care less that I was stuck at their shop at the end of their work day and my wife across the lake! The gentlemen from Banting's Nursery who saw my angst, sprang into action and took me home! Kudos! Sorry, this post is way too wordy and probably off-topic for a Yelp post! Regardless, thank-you dearly for caring about a perfect stranger, it meant a lot to me that you cared!

I…read moresuggest that they ask a couple of local master gardeners to come to the nursery to give advice to customers who need it for the plants they buy. Monrovia could visit this nursery on a Saturday in April for a lovely Louisiana spring day.
