Paint Boy is the WORST company ever. The owner Jereme James is a flat out liar and he loves to twist your words around. We hired Paint Boy in December 2013, for stucco and paint. We had also removed a door and replaced a larger door with a smaller one, so we needed these two large holes fixed. We explained to our sales representative (who no longer works there) exactly what we needed done and talked to him about our areas of concern (filling in the doors to make it look like they were never there). He told us not to worry and that everything would look great when it was done. We signed the contract and everything went as planned. All payments were made on time. We made our last payment a few days before Christmas 2013. No sooner then we handed the check over, did things start to fall apart. We noticed stains on our trim. The wood and nails were not properly treated. They did come out to fix the paint trim not once, but twice and it seemed okay at the time. However, more stains kept appearing. We have stucco discoloration, white spots everywhere. They said this was normal. They came out to re-fog, but could not finish due to all the cracks. There is also discoloration on the stucco, because the painters spilled white paint on the new stucco and they TRIED to fix it. The back walls of our house have major cracks. So does our garage wall. The garage wall looks as though it is going to bubble and peel soon. We notified them of all the cracks right after the New Year. On January 4, 2014 they sent someone out. He took pictures. He told us not to worry, that it would be taken care of. It NEVER was. Jereme James has given us every excuse in the book, about why the walls cracked. He has blamed us multiple times, saying we didn't order this work to be done; he said we denied work orders, he even said we filled in the large door area ourselves. These are all complete lies! This project cost us $10,825. First we complained to the secretary, during January and February. On February 10, 2014 we filed a complaint with the BBB. The BBB sent Paint Boy the complaint on 2/18/2014 and then again on 3/5/2014. I even faxed Paint Boy a copy of the complaint. They didn't respond to the BBB until 3/19/2014. Well we went through the BBB process and found out that it is a complete WASTE of time. We were not sure what to do next, so we let things go for about 2-3 months. A friend suggested we file a complaint with the State License Board 1) We filled out the complaint form online at cslb.ca.gov . We printed it out and sent it with ALL of our evidence to the address provided. We sent this in on 7/22/14. Once the complaint was filed, Paint Boy had 10 days to rectify the situation or the State would start its investigation. Paint Boy did nothing. 2) We received a call from our assigned investigator and she came out to our house. She took our verbal statement and looked at the areas of concern. This happened in December 2014. (There was a miscommunication somewhere along the line in their office, which is why it took so long before we met. They apologized for it.) 3) The investigator then requested that a State Licensed Contractor come out and look at the house to do an inspection and estimate report. The inspector came out in January 2015. His report was ready on 2/11/2015. 4) The report was sent to the investigator, Paint Boy and ourselves. The report favored us to the price of $6,825.00. Paint Boy had 10 days to accept and pay us or reject it and go to arbitration. I'm sure you know where we headed next. 5) On 4/8/2015 we received arbitration paperwork and a date for the arbitration hearing. Our arbitration hearing was set for 5/12/2015. We were finally getting our day in court. 6) On arbitration day we were able to use the State Licensed Contractor that wrote the report as our witness. The State License Board paid for him to testify. WE DID NOT HAVE TO PAY ANYTHING FOR THIS PROCESS! We were in the hearing for 2 and half hours. It was so long because we had to keep defending ourselves from this man's constant lies. The arbitrator was very calm. He needed to have his decision made within 30 days. This arbitrator was quick and we had a verdict in our hands within 9 days. 7) WE WON!!! We received the reward letter on 5/21/2015. We were rewarded $5800.00 back of our $10,825. Once you go through arbitration the verdict is final and cannot be appealed. Paint Boy had 30 days to pay us or Jereme James would LOSE HIS LICENSE! 8) We received a business check on 6/2/2015. He was suppose to pay in certified funds, he didn't. I told the man from the State Board how he paid, so he kept the case open an extra week to make sure the check would not bounce. Yes this took a year and a half, but we weren't going to let him get away with it! Don't let him do this to you! read more

I'll admit: I didn't get online just now to write a review of Paint Boy - I was actually just trying to find their contact information to setup an estimate for another job (we had the majority of our beach house painted by Paint Boy last January, but I seem to have misplaced their card.) I have been VERY pleased and eager to schedule the next step in making my home even more beautiful. . I've worked with other construction companies in the past - I've experienced firsthand poor craftsmanship and lack of hustle .. This is why I was so pleased with the service, price, and lasting resultes that I found with Paint Boy. They were SO MUCH BETTER. The forman, Carlos, was very friendly and accommodating. The crew was always on time, neat, and blasted through the job so fast that I hardly had the time to notice them .. I am a former employee of Paint Boy (Builder Boy) I actually recently used them on a home flooring and stucco project i had. They did a terrific job! I wanted to take a moment to review this company from the inside out. I worked with Paint Boy for a year. In the year at Paint Boy i saw work ethic that made me proud to say that i worked there and happy to use them for my own home remodeling. No company is perfect. There is always going to be a mistake at some point in time. How you handle that mistake is what matters most and make all the difference. No matter the problem Paint Boy was always striving to make things right for the customer. Even if that meant taking a complete loss and basically paying someone to do a job. Paint Boy just repainted all my 100 year old windows. They are weighted on strings with the original glass from 1910. I had Jereme out to take a look at them and his quote was fair, but most importantly he knew how to help restore my old home. The men who worked on my windows (and stripped a few of them) did an amazing job. The work was done efficiently and professionally. I am extremely happy and thank Jereme, Santiago and the rest of the crew for taking my restoration project as seriously as I do. My first experience with the team was in 2007 when I had two eight foot patio doors installed and needed the stucco to tie in and paint match. So this time when I needed the water heater closet to be closed after the Tankless installation, I called them back. They closed up the closet by the front door, matched the stucco, painted the whole house and replaced about 600 feet of Fascia. Oh and painted the metal gate frames too. These guys are the best you will be extremely pleased with the work and they will be around hopefully for years to come. read more

I have had several transactions with Paint Boy and those have included full exterior paintings, as well as replacing old clapboard from 1906 with new redwood, re-glazing of windows and so on. In our opinion, you MIGHT be able to find someone AS good, but none better! This company stands by its work and we found their workers friendly, polite, courteous and very prompt. My Mom had Paint Boy paint her house a little over eight years ago in Coto De Caza and she was very happy with the work and friendly service. It is a wood house with very little stucco and still looks great today, eight years later. I live in Santa Ana and could not find a nearby painter that had good references and a valid license so I called Paint Boy. We have used Paint Boy for our last 4 home improvement projects. Most recently they just finished up painting the exterior of our house. Santiago was our foreman and he did a great job explaining the process and answering any questions we had. The paint looks amazing! We also used Paint Boy to stain our kitchen cabniets. I Used Paint boy for some work I needed done in my kitchen. They were on time, unbelievably neat and very organized. I too recently had my whole house painted and door redone by Paintboy. It took almost 5 days and I was very happy. They explained about the door being removed and we made arrangements for 3 days while it was out being refinished ( we used the back door ) . The whole job was very proffessionaly done with very good workers. I want them to do the inside my house this summer. We hired Paint Boy to do a light remodel on the interior of our house. Jereme provided a very detailed scope of work with his estimate and was willing to work with our many requests. The employees were all professional, timely and were very careful to block off each room to prevent the spread of drywall dust, etc. The tile work is amazing. Wow I cannot say enough possative things about Jereme and Paint Boy. I used them to paint my 1912 Craftmans home about 13 years ago and just had them paint it again for us last month.
