Great spot to pick up plants, and they frequently have seasonal produce specials and food trucks in the summer. They sell jams and eggs from local farmers as well. The inside of the store is very clean, and there is a large greenhouse area outside as well. There is a large parking lot, along with a drive-through for online orders and CSA pick up. This is my second year doing their CSA program and it's great! Multiple pick up locations to choose from, boxes are neatly packaged and produce is fresh and not that dirty. The teaser share is plenty for a family of two. There are often produce specials, field events, and other promotions available to CSA members which is another perk. read more

Stopped by for their 40 corns for $15 sale. Service was organized, having helpers load the corn onto the cart was nice! I'm short so those pallets of corn boxes were taller than me lol. Granted I've never been to a greenhouse before so this was my first ever experience, but I thoroughly enjoyed taking a stroll through their different offerings. Plenty of parking, though the road got a bit narrower with cars on both sides. Thankfully we got cement parking cause it was a rainy morning so some spots had puddles. read more

Pahl's has every flower or plant you'll need for the summer. Starting outside, they have ample parking with plenty of carts to load up with flowers. I enjoyed walking through the nursery looking at all of the flowers and thinking of what projects I could complete. I had a few questions and there employees were very nice in answering my questions and guiding me to the location of the plants I was looking for. I missed out on their flashlight sale this year, but I'm hoping to catch it next year to get some trees and shrubs! Staff was very rude to me while I tried to pay for my pumpkins and apples. I had my hands full with 2 children and couldn't find a cart and was unsure of where to pay, instead of helping one young lady made a snide comment about how large the pumpkin scale is (implying it should have been obvious I was suppose to weigh it before check out.). If you are coming here for plants, they have a great selection. Some fun yard items too. Staff offer great customer service too. This year we tried to use them for landscaping. The prices to plant were ridiculous but they also won't guaranty to plant if there are tree roots or rock. The young man that was trying to help me setup landscaping didn't know this and we found out together as we were looking through the planting fee book. We ended up going with Bachmans and saved over $900. Bachmans had no problem planting in our rocky ground by where we just had trees removed and charged us only $300 to plant 2 large trees and 6 shrubs. read more

I don't usually shop at Pahl's because I can generally find more affordable options elsewhere. However, I make sure to shop here a few times each season because of the positive experiences I've had. I've had my shrub order upgraded for free when they didn't have the size in-stock that I ordered. Most recently, an employee was kind enough to run to the opposite end of the greenhouses to grab me a cart with a baby seat. And they also do tend to have some more uncommon varieties of plants that I haven't found at other garden centers. Lastly, I always enjoy their flashlight sale. We are appalled with Pahl's!! We bought an Autumn Blaze Maple tree on July 6th and planted it on the same day we brought it home. Since then, dark spots on the tree have multiplied and upon researching the cause, we learned the tree is infested with tar spot. We contacted Pahl's via their website/contact us page, to report this issue and per their request sent in numerous pictures of the diseased tree. Pahl's staff confirmed the tree has tar spot disease. Sadly, other than some email advise on how to rake up and remove leaves to prevent the disease from spreading further on this defective tree, Pahl's has not taken any accountability and has not offered any credit, and has not offered a refund. We paid full price for the tree. We have emailed the owner, Gary Pahl, directly with a complaint and he is ignoring the email. Based on this experience, we would not recommend buying from Pahl's. Please be aware they are not accountable when it comes to defective/diseased merchandise. It was not our goal to bring home any diseased specimen of a tree. 07-28-2023 Following is a copy of the business owners email response. My guess is, is that you watered the tree so much after planting it that it incurred a fungus due to the wet roots for an extended period of time.....if you are still with me, it is like sitting in the bath tub for a long period of time and everything starts to shrivel up, when the plant does not have time to regenerate its oxygen, it starts to get suffocated out and that's when problems start to occur.........just here me out if you are still with me, because my guess is, is that you are gone because you can't take a person that can give you an honest answer....you tend to be the person that blames something on everyone else....let me pose a question to you? How long do you think this tree has already been living?.....WRONG answer....you see this tree is already 7-8 years old and low and behold it hasn't had any of the conditions that occurred since you bought it....now wait a minute....we have plenty of these trees here yet and they do not have anything that has occurred to your tree......so ask yourself a question? Do you think Baileys would sell us a tree like this......I don't think so......do you think Pahl's would sell anything defective?.....I don't think so.....I am the fifth generation in this business and I will tell you flat out we would not even think about selling something that is diseased, defective or unusable....I would not be able to sleep at night......However, after writing this note to you I will sleep like a log tonight.....you can tell the state, the feds, the FBI, CIA, NSA, or whomever you want and I do not care which pro-noun they use or nothing but please do not treat my people or anyone else like you have treated them. And if you going to post this little article do yourself a favor and post the whole thing and don't cut and paste to your liking. If life is really that bad for you maybe you should put yourself in my shoes, I have a parent in hospice and a father in law in hospice so I hope you can sleep tonight thinking that your life is so tough. Since the remodle prices have skyrocketed! I live only a few blocks away and want to support local but the shrub we wanted was over $50 and the same kind and size at Bachmans was $25. Also terrible traffic flow. I couldnt get in the gift shop area cause people with carts were blocking the entry waiting to checkout. They no longer have fresh produce either, bad for a local farm. So long Pahls, seems you are only for the rich now and dont care about your local neighbors. read more

Will never go back after their mishandling of the mulch sale this fall. Brenda was a horrible example of customer service and chastised me for being upset that my mulch order went to someone else and I never got contacted before I made the drive to pick it up. Brenda also didn't know how to refund my money and I had to wait at the counter for close to 30 minutes while she and the manager, hiding in the back room, tried to figure it out. Dee's stellar customer service is sorely missed. I sent the company an email detailing what happened and no one contacted me. My guess is they had hundreds of dissatisfied customers and are hoping the whole debacle will be swept under the rug. read more

Went in to buy some corn. Saw a display with un-bagged ears on a table. I proceeded to check each ear's quality before buying it. While doing so I was approached by a store employee and was questioned about what I was doing. She said I didn't need to handle the corn ears as there were already pre-bagged ears I could take. I said I like to check the ears quality before I bought them. She said they didn't want people handling the corn and told me to take the ears I had in my hands. This caught me by surprise. I've purchased corn for decades always checking the ears quality without incident be it a store or a stand or back of a truck. I felt intimidated and not welcomed as though I should feel ashamed for touching their corn. WTF! Not going back there again for sure. Someone needs to work on their customer service attitude. read more

I have been a Pahls Preferred Customer for several years. I stopped in today to attempt to find a small ceramic planter & use my 40% off coupon. There were very few customers in the facility & even fewer employees. After looking at the huge planters in the front of the building, I asked the only employee I could find if he could help me. His response was that he worked outside. I continued through the maze of plants- finding absolutely nobody to help me. I went to the hodgepodge front of the store & found a small planter. Once again, the checkout stations are also a complete maze, but I found a cashier who was "unable to help me"....seriously???? The next cashier had absolutely zero acumen to read a room & sense my frustration. He also was unable to properly input my coupon. I left the store without buying a thing. Literally, no apology whatsoever from any employee. This is no doubt my last trip to this store. Step it up Pahls! read more

Brenda requires intervention. 20+ year loyal customer and finally done. Multiple times, we have given Pahl's the benefit of the doubt, overlooking countless bags of rotten corn on the cob this summer. Last week, we should have simply gone elsewhere, but instead asked if we could peel our corn outside to ensure it wasn't rotten. We spoke with a helpful young man, as well as Brenda, who was reluctant to right Paul's wrongs and ensured that we knew how much she was doing for us. She, physically, stood over my shoulder, as I peeled more and more rotten cobs. Each time, she explained various reasons for the subpar cobs: crows make them moldy, worms get in after the crows eat it... Whatever. I couldn't care less as to why, as long as I left with a dozen non-moldy, bug free, worm free, not rotting, ears of corn. This experience appeared to shake Brenda personally, almost as if she just lost a hard fought battle. I asked if it would be acceptable next time, to avoid bringing home bad corn, to peel the dozen outside again. She confirmed that would be fine. So tonight, we headed back to Paul's and reminded the same nice, young man that we were there last week and asked if it was okay to peel our corn in the parking lot. He agreed, telling me to let him to know if there were any rotten ones. We were eight deep - 4 bad and 4 good, when Brenda, who had been staring us down from inside for several minutes, appeared to have all she could take. "You know this isn't an eternal gift," she yelled. Whaaaat?! I held my composure and explained that this corn is too, rotten, full of worms and didn't want to bring those home. At this point, she could simply refund my card. She told me that having worms, mold, and rotten corn is simply, "a part of farming you need to accept in dealing directly with a farmer." I asked her, again, to refund my money and handed her my receipt. She asked how many cobs she should refund, to which I said, all dozen. She protested --she wasn't going to refund the four good cobs I had found. At this point, I was unwilling to continue arguing and told her I was willing to leave without a refund. Brenda requires intervention. Perhaps, a better suited assignment, one in which she is unable to interact with customers. Her condescending, ungrateful attitude has pushed this previously loyal customer to Gerten's and Bachman's for better pricing, products, and service. read more

I was just thrown out of Pahl's Market in Apple Valley. My crime... using one of their printed coupons which entitled me to a free perennial with the purchase of two. The coupon's only limitation was that it was exclusively for the month of June... and today is June 28th. No other limitations were printed on the coupon. After arriving at the checkout, the clerk rang up 15 plants and then deducted the cost of one. I corrected her and said she needed to deduct the cost of 5 plants. Simple math. She refused and said despite no restrictions on the printed coupon regarding the number of plants, she would only deduct the cost of a single perennial. I asked for a manager, who was prompt in arriving. I explained the situation and was told I was wrong. I told her that the coupon was a legal contract, i.e. "A coupon is a written contract for the payment of a definite amount on a specified date according to the terms of the main document from which it must be separated for presentation for payment. Each coupon represents a separate promise by its issuer to pay its holder on the due date." In other words, the wording of a coupon is binding in a court of law. Not an assumption. Not "this is the way we do things." Not open to managerial interpretation. Again, I politely explained my case and she replied that unless I was going to purchase the 15 plants, with a single plant as a discount, the matter was closed. I asked to speak to someone else, at which point I was told to leave the store and that she would not allow to purchase anything. I thus put my wallet away and left. Worst customer service ever. Worse yet, my wife and I have been loyal Pahl's Market customers for over 23 years. I will be reporting this to the Better Business Bureau and the office of the Minnesota Attorney General. read more

Zero stars if I could. Wanted to by bypass the big names and go local for a large landscaping project. Purchased 1500 worth of plants from a Pahl's. One week ago. One shrub was dying and we were ready to plant and to lay mulch. I decided to bring it back so I could get a new plant in and not have to dig it up in new further. In my visit to exchange the shrub I shopped around and had another $200 worth of shrubs in my cart to purchase. When I reached check out the manager was called up. The manager decided it was appropriate in front of another worker and customers to treat me with condescension. Also not honoring the warranty for one $44.00 shrub. I walked out without the new plants or the plant I paid for already that was dead. Do not give Pahl's your business. I should have read other reviews. The way they treated me after spending this much in money in a two week period is appalling. I wish I have a picture to post of the faces the manager was making at me for this review! read more

I used to like this place from 2009-2013. Yet, something has started to feel different. Service quality has gone down tremendously. Hard to find people available to help. People also seem like they do not care about customer experience or going out of their way to offer guidance or education. In addition, prices are now high here. Even higher than Bachman's (which now appears to be a great value). I do like the selection and free popcorn. The Pahl's family consists of multi-millionaires and they also own hundreds of thousands of acres of land. If you want to give your money to this crowd, by all means do so. If you would prefer to support families of more modest means, Pahl's is likely not your best bet. read more

If you love your plants and flowers as much as me, you will love Pahls! If you have visited Gertens and you were a little bit overwhelmed, try the smaller, more local version. Outdoor plants, a few greenhouses, a fairly large selection of pottery, fresh vegetables, outdoor decor and seating. It seems like this place has so much to offer the outdoor landscaper. I love the atmosphere, it kind of puts me at ease. Prices for items do vary. I think it's a great idea to purchase planters in the off season... The fall seems to be the perfect time to be on the hunt, right now some of the outdoor pottery you can get 30% to 50% off of the retail price. I picked up 3 rustic clay looking pots today, so cute! Don't wait until spring because that's when the prices seem to spike back up! I also bought some adorable pumpkins to decorate my patio and my desk at work. I need a little color, if ya sense what I'm sayin'. As for the larger pumpkins they charge around .59 to .79 cents per pound, which I find reasonable. Some of the flowers change with the season, right now there are plenty of mums to go around! The staff is always friendly and is always very helpful. The attentiveness of the staff is driven by the need of the customer, which is totally cool with me. Most of the time the less pressure there is, the more I end up buying! read more

Came out here to check out their pumpkin selection and bringing the little nephew out for some photos and fun. The place was a little hard to get into since we thought we could turn on an off street on Galaxie, but found that there was no back entrance. Only front. Once we got in there, we found tons and tons of pumpkins to choose from. Small, big, medium, baby size....a fun place to bring your kids to choose from the big selection of pumpkins. They also sell many types of flowers and trees, and what have you. And if you go during this time of year (fall/Halloween), they have a straw maze to let your kids run around in, as well as a huge bouncy pumpkin and a bouncy haunted house. Supposedly a petting zoo too, but we couldn't find it, or didn't make the time to find it. They sell all sorts of fall decor and they have plenty staff workers walking around that could probably help you look for what you need. Plenty of pottery and a good sized barn-like building with other things they sell in there. They have hot coffee, cider, and popcorn while you walk around. Great place to check out during this time of year with your kids, tons of places for them to explore and for you, some plants and flowers to check out. Fun for all! read more

The answer was no because they did not know how to change it at the point of sale and they missed changing the price on the display bag. Be careful when purchasing, you maybe overcharged! They were very responsive today and I was so grateful that they were open on a Sunday but the bulk gold mulch did not compare to the mulch store variety. So now I have half and half in my landscaping. Good thing I could put the Paul's variety in the backyard. It was much different in color and the mulch store seemed of higher quality and brighter by several shades. read more

I have purchased at Pahl's for years and over the last couple, the customer service has gotten so bad that I will no longer go there. There are a couple employees that really make an effort and help/walk/talk with you to understand exactly what you're looking for and go above and beyond. And I'm sorry that they are in the pool with the others who don't acknowledge you, stand behind the counter and talk across the showroom (indoor barn area) pointing where you can go, hollaring, and make very little effort at customer service. I would understand if they were alone and couldn't leave the cash register, but every time, there have been 2 or more employees standing together talking when this has happened. I have gone in with dead perrenials that didn't even make it a month, had my receipt, and asked to exchange them for something else and was told that I had to exchange them for the exact same plant. Clearly that plant type wasn't doing well in the space, so why would I want to replace it with the same one? I was even asked if I water my plants. I was with my infant and they told me - they could see that maybe my focus would be somewhere else! I've been a gardener for 15 years and have helped many others select plants for their space....yes, I water plants. And, if I had this same issue with Bachmans or Home Depot, etc. they would replace that plant or give me store credit, no questions asked. Are you trying to retain my business? I recently went in asking if they had patio pavers. I was told that they did, but they would probably be covered in mud because it was early in the season. I asked if that meant they were laid out on the ground so that I could see the pattern. I was told that they were on pallets and if I wanted to see a pattern, I could look online to pick something out. Like most shoppers, I've already looked online and explained that I wanted to see some in person because things are usually different in person than in pictures. I was told that I should go to Patio Town if I wanted that. Hardscaping is expensive....I'm really surprised that they are turning away business that easily. I was going to look at Bachmans Cedar Acres, but they don't open until this week and Patio Town is not open on Sundays and I live right down the street from Pahl's. They are the most convenient for me. I have purchased dozens of perennials, annuals, etc. from Pahl's. Every year for Xmas I give gift cards to do the spring planting of a hanging baskets. I always get my Mother's Day gifts there as well. And when I went in for a multi-thousand dollar purchase was still treated like more of an annoyance than a valued customer. I should be treated the same whether I'm buying a $3.00 annual or $4,000 hardscaping. You never know what that 1 time browsing experience could turn into for the next time. I no longer will be shopping here. My extended family all has shopped there as well and has experienced similar treatment and after sharing my latest experience, will also be shopping elsewhere. Wish the customer service issues were isolated incidents, but they are consistent and disappointing. Not to mention, their plants are more expensive than other local places. Unfortunately, just because they are conveniently located to my home, does not mean they make it to convenient for us to shop there. read more

I placed an order online and selected a date and specific pick up time. When I arrived at the designated time I was told that my order was not ready because I was supposed to read the fine print in a confirmation email that said an additional email would follow telling me when my items were ready. The nursery evidently is unable to track their orders and said that they were overwhelmed and should not have been scheduling pick up times due to demand. That is not my problem. I wasted an hour and 20 minutes driving there only to find out that they did not have my order at the designated pick up time. There were no other people in line behind me either and they could have got had staff get my order. But they chose not to. This will be the last order I placed and I would suggest you shop elsewhere. read more

Bought 3 Braided Benjamin Ficus trees, by the 2nd week, all three plants had started loosing their leaves. When I called to ask about replacement, refund, or credit, Dave told me that I would get NOTHING. Wasn't told that there is only 7 day policy for guarentee. Our HOA worked with Pahl's for several years, thousands each year in professional services to plant 20+ beds. Pricing increased dramatically without any substantial explanation. Finally switched vendors and have been happy elsewhere. Personally I used to shop at Pahl's, have you gone there in the last few years and looked at the prices? Everything is dramatically overpriced. We don't mind paying for quality but it's just not the same place it was. Ownership lost touch with the business. read more

CSA program is SO not worth it, this is my first year with Pahl's and I definitely won't purchase again, My box values have been at the most $15 if we get bread or Von Hansen's that week and that is before I throw out the moldy and unusable produce. I have been a CSA member with a couple of different places and some of the produce has been unusable but there were plenty of other good produce to make up for it. I don't know how my box is suppose to feed 3-4 people for a week, I am a vegetarian, so I ordered a standard share just for one, this box would last me 2 days max, it is a complete rip-off read more

Scheduled to get landscape design and estimate weeks in advance, and got a call 2 minutes before my appointment telling me it's raining and we'd have to reschedule. I am glad we are also working with and getting bids from other landscapers who own umbrellas and boots. read more
