Paddy Pallin is an outdoor adventure gear and equipment store, and one of the best along the street. They stock an enormous range of gear for walking and hiking, climbing, travelling and camping.
They have a large range of specialty clothing for cold conditions which are designed to repel water, stop wind and to be lightweight and pack small. They also sell clothing for hotter climates using specially made materials that are fast drying and moisture wicking, and some with inbuilt bug repellents.
The staff here are very experienced and knowledgeable, and will go out of their way to help you. The business has been family owned since it opened in the 70s in Adelaide. The owner, Luke, is a serious climber, and helped produce the recent book on climbing in Adelaide. People come here to talk to professionals who know their stuff.
They also do a great range of travelling equipment, including many Osprey bags for travel specific purposes, as well as for sporting pursuits.
You can find Lonely Planet books here on most destinations, as well as useful extras like lightweight and very small towels, power-point adapters, dry bags, wet-weather gear, theft-safe bags and all kinds of other useful travelling products. read more
