09/01/2012 Photos…read more Very important life lesson I learned in Kmart, before I go to bed: Stop what you're doing sometimes, and spend some good, quality, fun time with your parents.... Pause, and really really feel what I just said. My Mum and I took my little niece Belle to Ingle Farm Shopping Centre this morning, and we couldn't help ourselves but stop by Kmart to buy a new Wiggles DVD for cute Belle! She had so much fun picking out the DVD that she wanted. Mum was going to get her the red cover 'Best of Wiggles', but Belle chose the yellow Wiggles DVD instead. There really is something about small, bright yellow and pink coloured items in Kmart that my little walking niece always loves touching and has such a fun time with it, I can't explain it. Kmart has a massive range of products, including men's, women's and children's wear; garden; home; health & beauty; outdoor living; entertainment; toys & sporting; camping & fishing; automotive; DIY and everyday needs, Kmart is sure to make anytime a good time, and they achieved that with us this morning! They are also committed to introducing initiatives to reduce our environmental impact and improve the understanding of environmental initiatives to our team, customers, suppliers and other stakeholders. I also can't believe I'm the first to review this place, it's been such a massive landmark in Ingle Farm. This place is huge, and one can easily get lost in the aisles. I know I did when I was a little boy shopping here, and I still do today. I was very happy to see that they STILL have all the sports equipment you need too, even after all these years! Basketball, cricket, football, swimming, yoga and table tennis, whatever sport you're into, Kmart has something to offer you! : ) Going to big stores like this, when I'm getting older as a young adult, reminded me and causes you to stop and appreciate so much, of how much I enjoyed shopping and spending time with Mum when I was only a little boy!....those were the happy carefree times when I didn't worry about anything....time goes by so fast and I realised how much less time I spend with my parents nowadays. Sweet dreams, and be nice to your parents today.

2/12/2007 "Forget" almost rhymes with "Target"…read more Can you serve me? When all your children grow up and leave for University, will you adopt me as your new child? If the answer is no to the above, I will forget you Target. Just joking, I did remember something about you. You have a generous sale for underwear. But you have non-existent service. I don't see anyone around that can help me. So I may not forget you, after all. I like your website though. Facts: The Target story began in 1926 when two men George Lindsay and Alex McKenzie opened a drapery store in Geelong, Victoria, Australia, after signing a partnership the previous year. The store primarily sold dress fabrics, manchester and furnishings. Target now offers customers a range of: fashionable women's, men's and children's clothing, underwear, footwear, cosmetics, fragrances, and accessories; the latest designs in homewares, including manchester, bed linen, electrical appliances and décor; and a full range of toys, games and entertainment - all under one roof! So you better be quick! Remember: their underwear won't last forever.

It is quite impressive when a self-confessed 'cheap' store makes the effort to renovate so it doesn't actually *look* so cheap - and this one looks great. Very easy to navigate and well signed (I could see where the fitting rooms were easily - unlike other department stores). I do think they needed more staff on the registers during the lunchtime peak period, but the line still moved pretty quickly. I felt like I was in a bank, with the big screens telling us that 'register 6 is free' - bizarre, but still impressive ;)

DJ's: an endangered species from the mono-lithic period where shopping for couture pieces and…read morespending 3 hours on a Sunday in one air-conditioned department store was "a done thing." Lost in the wilderness, this department store has quickly dwindled in life and breadth of product thanks to encroaching online shopping and competitive, low cost, reasonable quality department stores capturing their consumers. You can still find the rare brand name watch, pair of shoes on sale or makeup in store at a fair price and I love still wandering through the powder puff girls and clouds of perfume on the ground floor (where else can you get such an experience). However, the range, value and poor internal workings of the place mean that it is becoming a forgotten species. This DJs in particular has lost its way, shutting down their fine dining food court and imported produce section and putting on about 1 staff member for every 100 customers so you can never find a damn sales person when you need one (or they have no interest in serving you). Displays are cluttered and floors have been crammed with so many brands you can get in their original outlets or stores that the quality and health of the David Jones "premium brand department store" is lost. The only way I can see this species being brought back from near extinction is to re-instate and connect a fine dining food court to DJ's, add in fancy change rooms, high quality service, cut half their range so high end brands (that you can't get anywhere else) are available to touch and feel and completely refit the place to feel like one of those luxe shopping centres you get in Harrods, Dubai or HK. I hope to see the "day of old" department store return, but first it has to lift it's game.

While the service is ok and the products are alright, I think it's a sad indictment on what we see as good service these days when we expect dodgy service and are almost surprised when we don't receive it. I will admit the service is better than what you'll get in many places but I have a couple of really bad DJ's experiences. I have stood in the electrical department for longer than 30 minutes on two separate occasions waiting for someone to take my money so I could take home a new plasma tv. One guy approached me and told me he didn't deal with the particular brand I was after so he'd get someone else to help me. No-one came! A tip for you ... David Jones will price match so don't be fooled by the fact they seem more expensive than other places. They are as keen to make a sale as the next guy. Apologies for being a negative Nora but I just felt this page needed some balance.

Big W have the best DVD bargains out of all the department stores. Some movies are as low as $5, which is always a plus in my books. They also have an awesome chocolate selection, I'm just stating the obvious. They stock these great collectable items that you can't find in other stores. Such as; Audrey Hepburn wall clocks, Marilyn Monroe Biscuit Tins, Guitar Biscuit Tins and Audrey Hepburn chocolate tins. They're pretty awesome, and make for a stellar birthday or christmas gift. I'm a fan of the boys t-shirt collection. I've bought lots of Star Wars and Marvel Comic t-shirts here, and I love them. Otherwise I'd say their clothing range is not the best. I would come to Big W for DVDs, chocolate and other accessories. Great staff, big store, big bargains.

If you're shopping from bed linen, or after gardening, office or kitchen supplies, you're bound to find something here. Otherwise the variety makes it an ideal place to go Christmas shopping, if you have left things to the last minute. The prices are reasonably cheap, but the quality is excellent. What I don't like is that this Spotlight is like most of them - MESSY!! It's hard to find what you need amongst the chaos. It's like everything is literally thrown in there with no consideration for organisation or logic. The other thing I don't like are the cheap options for most things - instead of stocking high quality wool, for example, only cheap acryllic and substandard wool blends are available ... but I guess that's what their customers want - they'd go elsewhere if they wanted to step up the quality. And I guess that's what Spotlight is good for. But the sheer range is great! I came here for Velcro, and was faced with more options and colours than I needed ... but at least they had some!! And that's why I keep coming back (albeit reluctantly) ;) I must say their registers have been moved, and this has made the check-out more efficient than it was on my last visit, so that's another plus ;)

Given the area, the clothing is quite conservative, but there are lots of nice pieces. They have a lot of long skirts, and plenty of men's working wear. They're following the Salvo's trend of selling new jewelry, but there is rarely anything worthwhile. There is a nice range of new-looking cushions and throw rugs at the moment though. Definitely a shop worth checking in on regularly.

If you aren't interested in female fashion in any way, please look away now: this review is going…read moreto get super girlie/ style geeky. As much as I love cute fashion (hint: it's a lot), I am also a lazy, lazy person and love shopping for fashion whilst in my pj's in bed even more. The inevitable result is that I actually physically visit fewer and fewer boutiques and stores in real life. The Birdcage is one of the few boutiques I will actually get out of bed for. And here's why (oooh, I feel a list coming on...) 1. It's around the corner from where I live. So while I *do* have to change out my pyjamas, I don't have to put in too much effort to get there. 2. The act of browsing there is enjoyable. The smallish space has personality, with vintage trinkets and boudoir styling to offset the racks and racks of fashion, as well as spacious change rooms. The visual merchandising works really well - they even organise product by hue which I really dig. 3. The sale rack is ever present out the front. What girl doesn't love a bargain? 4. The prices. Falling somewhere in between fast fashion prices and higher end boutiques, you can easily walk in with $50 and walk out with a gorgeous little summer top, or spend $450 on a splurge piece. I'd say median prices are around the $150 mark and the quality in my experience has been really good (but of course that will depend on label). 5. The labels. It's a well curated selection of both local and national labels, from SA locals to Australoid bigwigs, it's an aesthetically cohesive range that fits somewhere between out and out girlie and on trend. Cameo, Finders Keepers, Keepsake are all stocked here, to name a few. Lots of whimsy going on with short skater skirts and shades that gently meander from cream to pale blue, with the occasional party piece thrown in. 6. Lover. This cult Aussie label is A BIG DEAL to stock. While Lover pieces stocked at the Birdcage are few and far between, it is one of the only places in Adelaide (I think Whistles also stock select pieces but I could be wrong...) to nab yourself a piece or simply ogle it in real life. As a HUGE Lover fan this is a massive selling point for me.

The staff at Birdcage are really friendly, despite being oh-so-purdy and always impeccably dressed. They also don't mind having a bit of a chat and take the time to guide you through new stock, which I always appreciate - I'm a big shopper! If I don't have time to stop by and actually browse, I just check out the sales rack out the front - how handy is it to have a sales rack just sitting there. Sometimes I just want to discreetly carry it away with me as I walk past...
