Since we've been here for a few months we've notice a big uptick in "busyness". It's getting so popular that they are doubling their space. It was awkward and uncomfortable. No explanation about why either. 2. When ready to pay, the server said "oh sorry, the card machine is down". I happened to have some cash (mix of pesos and USD) but it really irritated me and ruined an otherwise relatively good experience. The food: Guacamole and salsas were really great. The guac was a bit chunky (huge pieces of unmashed avocado). The drink I ordered was just ok - I wouldn't order it again. My husband loved the Coca Cola product he got in the glass bottle. If we aren't doing a scheduled excursion, then we are exploring the city and figuring out the best local stops. With that being said, this was an incredible stop. It was a short walk from the port, but far enough away that many tourists would not venture out to explore. The food was INCREDIBLE. I have never had better shrimp in my life. When we got there, they immediately brought out soup, beans, tortillas, two kinds of salsa, and chips. The service was spectacular and even though we did not speak Spanish and we had a bit of a language barrier, the servers were very patient with us and this did not impact our experience at all. Not sure if this business is family-owned, but it felt like that. They had their regulars that would come in for food and you could tell they knew a lot of their customers. Anyway, all of this to say - if you can get out of the port to visit this incredible location, please do. It is 100% worth it. One thing to note - they do take USD, but if you have pesos that is probably the best. We paid with USD and did not have any issues, but looking back that might have been easier. Again, this was not something that impacted our experience in the slightest but just something to note! 12 out of 10 experience!
