Chips, guacamole, margarita and some sauces I didn't use. I can't handle too much spice!
Kaai L.

I really have no other taco shop to compare to, but still, this place was amazing! I stopped here on my way back from a trolley tour because I promised my daughter I would have a margarita for her. Since I was planning on having tacos and chips and guacamole before I left Mexico, I stopped here. Luckily I did have some cash because there were signs everywhere that said cash only! I was seated promptly by the very rushed but polite server. I only waited a couple of minutes before someone came and took my order. I ordered chips and guacamole, chicken tacos and a margarita on the rocks. I received my margarita and chips and guacamole first. The presentation of the chips was perfect! They were wrapped in a little blanket in a basket. The guacamole was on the side. I'll include photos so you can see. Needless to say, the chips AND the guacamole were both amazing! Yes, I did try the chips by itself. I tasted the margarita and it was also very very delicious! It had the perfect flavor for a margarita! My chicken tacos finally came out, but by then I was already almost full from eating all the chips! I did eat 2 out of the 3 tacos though! They were really good! Lightly seasoned and then I decided to put some of my guacamole on them. It was a nice touch! I would recommend eating at this place! It's a cute outdoor restaurant that will for sure satisfy any taste!

Sol beer and limes!

Located right inside the port at Cozumel. Fantastic service and food. We got drinks and chicken quesadillas and it was amazing! Jeremiah the waiter is so nice. We were lucky that the amazing mariachi group comes and sings! Great prices.

Great chips, guacamole. I live on the island part time and meet friends down at the pier. It's really a great place cash only.

The service is quick, the prices are incredibly reasonable, and the food is consistently delicious. Before your meal even arrives, you're served a plate of fresh radishes, cucumber, and lime wedges, plus a selection of toppings including tomatoes, onions, and both a green and red salsa. Unfortunately this location didn't give us the cactus like the other locations did. The red salsa was my favourite, it paired perfectly with the tacos and had just the right amount of heat and flavour. The standout for me was the al pastor taco. The meat was incredibly flavourful with crispy edges, a smoky char, and the perfect balance of savoury spice and sweet pineapple. It was easily one of the best al pastor tacos I had in Playa del Carmen. I also tried the sirloin taco and the chicken breast plate, both of which were excellent. The portions were generous, everything tasted fresh, and the quality was impressive, especially for the price. El Fogón absolutely lived up to the hype. If you're looking for authentic, delicious tacos and grilled meats that won't break the bank, this is a must visit. I loved it so much that I ended up eating at all three locations and every visit was just as good as the last.

My wife and I shared the chicken fajitas, which were excellent. My friend ordered the al pastor fajitas, and his wife had the pork chops--everyone agreed the food was delicious. The guacamole was fresh and amazing, and every dish was flavorful and generously portioned. If you're looking for authentic Mexican food with excellent service and a great atmosphere, I highly recommend El Fogón. We would definitely come back!

Love! If you're staying a Casa Del Mar, this place is right next to the hotel and a must visit. If…read moreyou're not staying at Casa Del Mar, this place is still a must visit. My boyfriend and I came here twice during our stay and we honestly wish we had skipped some of the other places we went to and came here instead. Even though we only came here twice, we tried a lot of stuff. Ceviche Mixto The ceviche here is super fresh and cooked with the perfect amount of lime juice. It has fish, shrimp, octopus, onions, tomatoes, & cilantro. We ordered this both times we ate here. Arrachera with Cactus Yum! This was a lot of food. It came with chorizo as well. The steak was cooked to perfection and was super tender and juicy. The cactus sauce was really interesting and yummy as well. Tamarind Margarita This was the only thing I didn't really enjoy. It was way too sweet for me, but I also dislike sugar more than the average person (ie. I don't like 99% of desserts). I ordered it because I was expecting it to be more tart because of the tamarind. Ojo Rojo Ojo rojos are my favorite drink. I order it with Dos Equis. It's basically like a Bloody Mary, but instead of vodka, I mix it with beer. The ojo rojo mix they make here is great. Maya Salad Ordered this because we had eaten almost no veggies for like a week. Wasn't expecting too much from this, but it was so so good!! The pumpkin seeds, carrots and dressing were the best part. We got this with no meat because we ordered it as an appetizer, but next time I come back, I'd definitely order it with the chicken option and have it as a main entree. The guava dressing is to die for and I normally never add dressings to my salads. Not sure how "authentically Mayan" this salad was, but no joke, it was probably my second favorite thing out of all the things I ate in Cozumel. Mole Chicken SO FREAKIN GOOD! This was my favorite thing I had during my entire trip hands down. I tried mole at two other restaurants, but this one absolutely won out. We ordered too much food and I was already feeling stuffed by the time this entree came out, but the sauce was so good, I ate everything. And I mean everything. All the meat off the chicken, every speck of rice, and I used the tortillas to wipe any remaining sauce off my plate. MUST ORDER! Coconut shrimp My boyfriend ordered this. I had a bite and thought it was really good! The shrimp was definitely fresh and it was fried/cooked perfectly. The batter was really flakey. The shrimp were huge too. Jamaican Margarita (?) with worm salt I didn't try any, but my boyfriend really enjoyed it. I did try some of the salt with the worms in it. It just tastes like normal margarita salt, honestly. You can see the little specs of worms in it though, which was cool.

This restaurant is located in the oldest home on the island dating back to 1903. Definitely a find to come here and I share this secret place with my fellow Yelpers. The food is nothing short of amazing. I strongly suggest to follow all the suggestions on what to eat. The highly skilled chef will have you leaving here wondering when you can come back. My favorites were the fresh fish, avocado(aka native to Mexico) as well as all the special and spicy ingredients. It was so relaxing to have a business meeting here while looking outdoors on the beautiful gardens. After lunch we had drinks out front while looking at the beautiful ocean. Definitely the hidden jewel on the entire island.

Visited El Palomar for dinner on this trip after a recommendation from some local friends. El Palomar is located a little north of the ferry dock on the main drag. Directly across from the Jaques Cousteau statue. The building is a charming renovated 100 year old building (very well done). We had drinks on the veranda overlooking the sea at sunset. Margarita was the best I have had in Cozumel and the view of the sunset from the veranda was great. We retired into the main restaurant for dinner . The food was on point. My wife had the grilled Mahi And I had the skirt steak. Both cooked just right and served with a side of salad, mixed veggies and potato. The service was professional and unhurried. Wine selection also very good. Price was very reasonable for this nice of a place. This was probably the best experience at a restaurant that we have had in Cozumel.
