Since Ms Karen Hutt didn't leave a way for me to contact her I'll rebut her little response to me right here. It just shows the lack of customer service this place has. She can't call my review fake because I have over a 100 well-written reviews so she tries to attack my integrity. First, your man addressed me by the wrong name. He got called out for it. Not to mention 3 days later after my first interaction he did it again twice to me . So I was annoyed with him. I let y'all know and you want to attack me on Yelp instead of contacting me? Your guy just kept trying to go on with his scripted responses. Yeah I sent you the transcript because I got nothing to hide. Was I gruff towards him? Yup. Doesn't excuse his behavior. I've been a sales rep and a sales force manager in my career. From your response I can see where David learned his lack of customer service, his inability to take care of the customer, and most importantly how not to piss off your client. I'm assuming you own this company because if not I dont believe an owner would allow you to stay employed with their firm let alone reside as President of said company. Let me start off with saying I wished I had read a few of the reviews here. Again, super friendly people but they don't treally move anything, they broker services. After multiple back and forths with their "estimator" they sent a local moving company "Cheetah Movers" who promptly ripped the screen door off the hinges, literally. Then the quote jumped after they got the truck loaded and still hadn't touched almost half our stuff and told me we could rent our own Uhaul or pay them about $7000 more to send a second truck and move it all. They promised disassembly and reassembly at the other end. One reason they ran out of room was nothing was disassembled before it was loaded. Our household effects finally made it to Texas. I had advised Cheetah they would need a shuttle truck to deliver it to our house. The driver called and stated he had 2 more drop off before us. Effectively giving us about 6 hours notice. I asked if he had arranged for the shuttle, he stated he wasn't told he needed one. Apparently his plans changed and with an hours notice he called and asked me to go pick up a Uhaul. I'm in east Texas, local Uhauls are closed on the weekend with the closest open being 40 minutes away. In a town he had to pass through to get here. I called him back and advised him of that. Several hours later he called and stated he couldn't make the delivery. He was driving a lowboy and couldn't get closer than 22 miles to our property. Turns out he was going the wrong way and was 6 miles away. A local couple stopped and asked him if they needed help. Thank God or we'd still be unloading. I had to use my own trailer to make runs and they dropped off everything willy nilly and assembled nothing. The drivers parntner was worthless. Drove the Uhaul and not much else. Our "quote" ended up doubling. Felt like we were extorted every step of the way. Thank God we won't be moving again. I would recommend you get a real moving company, can't be any more expensive. read more

This company quoted me a price for a move. The driver was very late and then said his truck wasn't big enough and he needed to get another truck. The move was from a storage unit and we had given them the exact dimensions of the storage unit so, as professional movers, they should have known the required truck size. When they told us they needed a new truck, they quadrupled the price we were originally quoted. Our move has now been delayed indefinitely as we try to get our deposit back from the company. They have been giving us the runaround for four days and we have had to contest the charge with our credit card company. It has been a nightmare and I hope they aren't able to take advantage of others in a similar way. read more

UPDATE: I'm understanding now why I've not heard from Sentry, and why they gave all those excuses for not helping me (uhm, "10 million people are moving today"). They enter into a binding agreement with me that includes a verbal statement that delivery should happen within 3 to 5 days. I spoke with the subcontractor who employees the drivers and they didn't know anything about this timeline. (I believe them.) They said that the industry standard is to deliver within 7 days. Turns out my stuff is sitting in storage at Streamline in Nevada. I guess they pick up loads, take them back to base, then within 7 days, put them on a truck that's going to the drop-off area. Streamline said they don't gain anything by having my stuff sitting there, so they'll put it on a truck and deliver it sooner than 7 days. I got a text just now from Streamline that said they'll be here tomorrow noon. I believe the way it works is that Sentry makes the sale, then they are completely out of the process (except for one call to go over the move contents again). That explains the contradictory answers to question I got from them before pick-up--they didn't know and they didn't care; they were obfuscating because they had moved on. And why they haven't called--they take the 1/3 down payment as their take, and the mover takes the rest. I wouldn't move these folks again, but I don't think it's actually Streamline's fault. My perception is that folks at Sentry are deceitful and not telling you the truth. They imply stuff to their advantage. You're better off actually hiring a moving company instead of these brokers. ORIGINAL post: I'm on day 5 of waiting for my possessions, and no word from Sentry, their subcontractor Streamline, or the driver. For two days, I've been calling and texting all three. Sentry "customer service" at least answers the phone, but they admit they can't reach the dispatcher (not answering their calls) and don't have the number for the driver. They'll tell me they'll call me back within 24 hours. Well, when I'm on day 5 without word from the driver and the timeline you gave me was 3-5 days, that's no good. I asked to speak with a supervisor or company owner and they refused. (Not a good sign.) If you're looking for a mover, it's important to know that this company is not a moving company--it's a logistics company. They don't have access to or communication with the driver, so they can't control information or schedules. I hadn't realized that until the mover showed up and had paperwork with the logo of Streamline from Nevada. It turns out Streamline isn't BBB accredited. I wouldn't have chosen a moving company that wasn't (I checked out Sentry on the BBB website but didn't read the reviews--just looked for a good score). I knew something was off when someone from Streamline called me a couple days ago and said my credit card was declined. I said, uh, that's because the charge has already been taken out of my account. They were attempting to run my card twice for ~$2500. I'm lucky I didn't have twice the amount of the charge in my account or they would have taken it. Honest mistake? Maybe. But it shows the lack of competency. Meanwhile, I wonder if I will actually get my stuff. I have personal letters there that can't be replaced. Not within 3-5 days, that seems likely. As Sentry CS pointed out today, the driver "will" (is supposed to) call the day before they arrive. He hasn't called. He doesn't answer my texts or voicemails (I have his number because he called to tell me he'd be late when he picked up on Saturday). Surely someone at Streamline knows where the driver is, what his plans are, and an estimated time of arrival. I mean, come on! On day 5, I deserve to know. Because Sentry has admitted they've not been able to reach dispatch and can't communicate with the driver, if I don't get confirmation that my stuff is OK and an ETA by 4 PM Pacific today, I'm contacting law enforcement or the attorney general's office for my state to report my possessions as lost and fraudulent charges of ~$3600. Sentry tried to blow me off by saying "you're not our only customer," "there are 10 million people moving today" (???), "Streamline won't be open yet, it's only 7 AM" (a trucking company dispatch that keeps business hours??), and "we say we'll get back to you within 24 hours because we have other customers we're helping". Sentry, you are not helping me. All I'm asking for is confirmation that what I paid for is happening and an estimated day, for starters. Then, I want my stuff. I wanted to add to my review that while scanning yelp tonight I saw that these fraudsters changed their name from Sentry Van Lines to Packers and Movers squad. I hope this encourages potential new customers to look up the old name and read reviews. They have changed their name several times. Also to the people who had similar experiences to mine, my credit card company investigated and did fully refund my money. The owner is bluffing when she threatens to not give you your money back or that if you dispute the charge she won't refund you at all. Due to a job relocation i had to move from Michigan to Florida and spoke with several moving companies. After speaking with a representative from Sentry Van Lines i knew i had found the company i wanted to do business with. They were not my least expensive option but the representative that i spoke to I could tell was very professional, experienced, knowledgeable and courteous. He made sure that I was informed properly and the move went off without a hitch and i was very very pleased with the service. I would definitely recommend them friends and family. read more

Steer clear of this company, they are a nightmare, interested only in ripping you off. I hired them to move my son across country to college, they stood me up 12 times, giving me dates and times to pick up the shipment and never showing up. My son ended up in Seattle in an empty apartment, trying to start class with nothing. Then they made unauthorized debits from my checking acct., saying they had switched card vendors and it was a vendor error and it would take 7-14 business days to return my money. They then refused my phone calls. I had to file a fraud claim with my bank to get my money back. DO NOT HIRE SENTRY VAN LINES INC., it was a horrible experience. read more

Worst business I have ever dealt with. They lowballed the moving estimate and then sent an incompetent moving gang form NJ to damage my household goods, forget items on the moving truck and lose items. In summary stay away form this scam broker and get a real moving quote from the moving company; not the broker middleman. This outfit deserves to be in jail. read more

Sentry Van Lines obtained almost a 1k deposit for my move, failed at actually producing an actual moving company to carry out the move, and have yet to refund my money. I was told today that my initial refund request was cancelled by the owner because I filed a BBB complaint and now a refund will not reach me until Aug.1. Well, I will not be silenced. This has been a terrible experience that I wish on no one else so will share my experience on any and all platforms. This company should not be allowed to take money, deliver nothing, and decide if and when to indemnify their wrong doings while causing consumers additional funds, pain, and stress. This company appears to be a scam. We gave a deposit for a move. Cancelled within the contract date, and after 2 months still have not gotten our refund back, (they initially said we would have it within 7-10 business days). They have lied to us several times saying the refund would be sent. read more

There are no trucks, though the company's website portrays itself as if it were a moving van company. The local Police inform me there is no physical office, only a mail drop/cyber office. Avoid this group. read more

BEWARE!!!! I repeat BEWARE!!!! BEWARE!!!!! BEWARE!!!! This company and their business practices are a fraudulent. How this company has received such an honorable rating is shocking. I am almost certain that the 7 positive reviews were written/inspired by Sentry (FAKE REVIEWS). I can totally relate to Elaine's situation (thoroughly written below) as I almost endured the same horrific experience. If it wasn't for my cancellation after being postponed 3 or more times and finding out that the company that Sentry contracted to initiate my long distance move had an F and numerous complaints on BBB, google, and other websites, there is no telling the stress and turmoil I would have endured. ****Initially, on/around 13 July, after conducting research on numerous moving companies, I came across the website, "movers.com" (BEWARE)!! After reaching the website, I entered information pertaining to my upcoming move and my contact information. I was immediately contacted by Sentry Vanlines (Luke B.). Luke very strategically told me about all the moving scams going on in the U.S etc.. in his attempt to legitimize his company. He told me that there would be several companies trying to contact me due to my inquiry and to avoid anyone from FL (as there are tons of fraudulent companies there). After providing detailed information to Luke in regards to my move for a 5bdroom - 3800 Sqft. home, I was told that my move was estimated to be be around $3000 and possibly a little more once I accurately provided every detail regarding my belongings. He indicated that they would call 3 days prior to the move to confirm- this never happened. The pricing and the way the situation was handled immediately set off alarms for my wife but I was initially onboard as Luke brilliantly, passionately, and cunningly lied to me concerning all aspects of my move. The most strategic lie that he launched was when he informed me that Sentry does NOT contract out their moves to other moving companies which sets them apart from other reputable moving companies. This company even misrepresents this on their website by showing Sentry guys moving boxes with Sentry stickers on them (disinformation). After my deposit was paid and after countless bad encounters and lies from other customer service reps, I was informed by a different rep, Tonya (I believe) that that what Luke told me was not true and they contract out the majority of their moves(if not all). This came after I started questioning what Luke told me when I realized that I was contracted out to a company with a F rating on the BBB's website. The company, "AMERICAN PRO MOVERS" (NC), called on the day of my move indicating that their truck broke down on the night before my scheduled move and that they had to postpone until they could find another truck. I called Sentry at this time to get to the bottom of this and quickly learned that I had been lied to. Luckily for me that company's truck broke down or they didn't have gas money or the Bear ate the truck or whatever transpired. Sentry informed me after exposing the lies that I was sold that they would speak to Luke (most likely shake his hand). Luke on the other hand made himself available 24 hours a day to answer any questions/concerns prior to me paying my deposit. Any time I called, he answered or sent an email and this is what he informed me in the beginning - that he would be available 24/7. After I paid my deposit on 15 July, he never answered the phone again and he stopped sending/responding to emails after 22 July. Whenever I called "his number" someone else would answer. (3rd Attempt) On 29 July (2 days after my scheduled pickup) at 7am, I called Sentry to confirm if the new movers who were contracted were going to be on time as they had indicated because we were told that they would be at our location from 6am to 8am. I was very rudely greeted by a Sentry Rep who sounded as if she was in bed (at Luke's number), asking what did I need and telling me that its 5am in the morning where she was located in a very irritated manner. I informed her that I was told that they were 24hours and she calmed a bit a said that they were and then told me she would call the new movers who was scheduled to come out to confirm. After calling back she indicated that they would be late due to the driver informing her that he had been pulled over by cops etc... the very same thing happened on 28 July when a different company was scheduled to arrive. After all the LIES and deceitful practices, I declined their service. I was told that they would keep my deposit regardless of if any service was provided per their policy. No service was provided yet this FRAUDULENT company is trying to keep a $1200 deposit. They will have to fight with the bank and/or my lawyers because this will not happen on my watch. read more

Nightmare moving experience with these people. They are only BROKERS, the middle man. You can find your own moving company, you don't need them. They only call and answer their phones when they want your money and business. Then you will never hear from them again. They do not see the entire move through, nor do they tell you what is happening to your stuff. They don't care if it is broken or lost or held up in some other state. They take their $1000 commission and you will never hear from them. If you don't give them an exact accurate inventory they will charge you thousands more when they farm you out and hand you over to the actual moving company that will come and pick up and move your home. We were given an exact quote then after they turned our account to a moving company all those signed documents didn't matter, and the price almost doubled. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!
