I was sent to this location from another U-Haul facility, and the representative there had left notes for them to honor a few miles and assist with a discount because of the inconvenience. From the moment we arrived, the employee at this location was dismissive, rolling her eyes, and making it clear she didn't want to help. She ignored the notes on my reservation, and when the original facility called to confirm, she openly rolled her eyes and acted as though it was a burden. Instead of doing a walkthrough or explaining anything about the truck, she simply handed me the keys, told me to "go find it," and closed the store. After walking to locate the truck, I found it stuck in mud and had to dig it out myself. Once I got it started, I discovered one of the headlights didn't work -- making the vehicle unsafe (and illegal) to drive at night. At this point, the store was closed, and no one was available to help. When I followed up with the manager, instead of apologizing or addressing the lack of customer service, he defended the employee and said that because I drove the vehicle, I could not receive a full refund -- even though the truck should never have been handed over in that condition, and I had no opportunity to resolve it before the store closed. He even tried to suggest that my laughing with a friend was directed at his employee, which is completely untrue. The responsibility to ensure the vehicle is safe and the customer is informed lies with U-Haul staff, not the customer. Being handed unsafe equipment with no instructions and then being blamed for driving it is unacceptable. I strongly urge anyone considering renting from this location to think twice. U-Haul corporate needs to address the lack of professionalism and disregard for customer safety here.

Reserved a 22' truck with a car tow one week ahead of my pick up date and…read moretime which was at 11 a.m. I arrived at the Home Depot in Florida City at 11:05 and was told my truck was not there. H.D. called this Penske location asking where the truck was and they told them it would be an hour because they had to go it and the car tow but I would have both within an hour. At 12:30 the driver arrived with a 26' truck and NO car tow. He said he had to go get the car tow in a different location and it would be another hour. At 2 p.m. when Home Depot called this office for the status of the car tow, they were closed (Sat. 2/9/24). I was told don't be surprised if the driver doesn't show up with the car tow. The driver did show up..........at 3pm. Not only did I wait 4 hours for what I had ordered and was "guaranteed" they would be at the location and time I reserved, but the hand dolly and moving blankets were also not there that I ordered. Lastly, when we went to load my car on the car tow, there was a safety pin missing for the ratchet strap that covers one of the front tires. We then had to wait 2 hours for road side assistance to bring us this safety pin before we could leave for our move. When it comes to moving, time is everything and this Penske rental company stole 6 hours of my time from a weekend of moving. Not to mention there was no accountability or compassion from the guys in the office as I was basically told it is what it is and you'll get the truck and car tow when we can get it to you, is how the attitude's from this Penske location came across. First and last time I'll use Penske!
