This place ticks every box according to Conrad Hilton - "location, location, location". Unfortunately the two stars were only for the location. It seemed like every single person working there was just sad to be a part of it which fed into the negative experience. The clam chowder was cold, gloopy and tasteless like there was too much cornflour or arrowroot - lazy. The main courses were also served cold and were flavorless. Crabmeat didn't taste as fresh as we had hoped. Overall it just made us feel sad - because of the price we were charged and that the staff seemed so fed up to even be there. From the valet parking attendant (totally unhelpful) to the hostess (passive aggressive and rude) and all of the wait staff, who were just miserable and under experienced. I wish I had a better review to write but unfortunately my experience here was ruined by at least 20 flies flying around my table. (That's not a joke either. There were at least 3 on our window, 2 flying on and off of my boyfriend's back and a swarm next to him! I'm getting itchy and irritated again just by thinking about it smh.) The view was so beautiful, but it was incredibly hard to enjoy because flies kept landing on us, our window and table. It was so bad, and so irritating, I took my food to go because I didn't have a moment of peace. We even switched tables and in doing so, a fly landed on my boyfriend's food, making it inedible. The only redeeming quality this place has are the employees. The hostess and our waiter were very nice and tried their best to help us and explained that it's been a problem due to their patio. For such a beautiful place, you would think they would be eager to fix this. Thank you to our waiter who discounted my boyfriend's food since he couldn't finish it, but it's a shame that our experience was ruined. I seriously cannot explain how frustrated I was. Having to eat a $30 sandwich in the car because the restaurant has flies flying around is unacceptable. I am extremely grateful I didn't go there for dinner because I would have demanded for the entire thing to be comped. I think we were there no more than 30 minutes. What a shame. I had heard and seen about this place on social media recently and wanted to try it for my special birthday lunch with my best friend. The pictures online looked amazing the food looked pretty decent as well. When we first approached the hostess desk she asked if we had reservations or were staying at the hotel. We said no and she then asked for a phone number and then sat us down right away. We were puzzled on why she needed our phone number if we weren't waiting. We just rolled with and sat down. Our waitress was not welcoming at all when we sat down and asked us for drinks. We asked for a drink menu and said "sorry there's no cocktails, only wine and beer". We asked why and she said someone had taken the liquor key home and they can't access it. I was so bummed because I really wanted a birthday drink! I had looked up drinks online and already been planning to splurge. We then were irked they didn't say anything about this before seating us. I ended up getting a mimosa that didn't even taste like there was much sparkling wine in it. I never got a buzz and it was a small glass for the price. The food was ok... we shared garlic truffle fries which were pretty much just garlic fries, and not much truffle taste. We both got clam chowder which was decent but took a long time considering there were only 2 other tables in the whole restaurant. As we were finishing our meal, we heard a cocktail shaker and we saw someone making a drink at the bar. We flagged down our waitress and we asked if he was making drinks. She replied "yes they came in a bit ago". My friend and I looked at each other and were like what the heck? She knew we wanted drinks, she didn't think to tell us? And she didn't say sorry or even seemed like she cares. She also never checked in on us. At the end of the meal we asked for a check and she hands the bill over and says "no cash, card only". Again... she didn't think to tell us at the very beginning of the meal??? We had a card but the point is what if I only had cash for that meal? She didn't tell us until the bill came? Overall the whole experience was 1/10. The bill was expensive for experience we got. The only positive I can say is the views were amazing. read more

We ordered a 48 prime rib rare. It came out small thin. All the crust was overcooked and only had any pink around the fatty middle. Not one speck of hens added for taste. Waiter never came back to see how we liked our food. Mashed potatoes were straight out of a box. No flavor no butter no salt. Had to flag someone down for horse radish. Definitely not as nice as it used to be. Way too casual a crowd, very casual menu, seems like they cater to breakfast, lunch and brunch, not nice dinner. We were one of the few wearing coats and dresses. Seems like they are using the view to suck people in but the dining is just ok. Hamburger or fish sandwich for $28???? Burratta appetizer had only 2 pieces of toast (and no bread served at the table) and the tomatoes weren't that ripe. We can't get ripe tomatoes in July? The Pan seared halibut was good, but served on a bland risotto with no vegetables. Mushroom risotto was also fairly bland. Needed more cheese and spices/herbs. The burger seemed ok but would expect an over the top experience for that price. We were able to get a wine that didn't break the budget (75% are over $100+) but didn't know it was an 8 year old Pinot until it was too late. It might have been over the hill but we let it pass. Service was the bright note. Both with Rosemary in the lounge and then with Colin at our table the service was very personable and well done. I love out of the way places in a wooded setting with a terrific view, and the Pacific's Edge Restaurant at the Highland Inn Hyatt scores on both counts. We returned to enjoy the new menu, which offers breakfast and lunch at the same time, a perfect combination for us since I am always eating lunch right when my husband wants his big breakfast. It was a foggy day, with the Pacific ocean offering up its more somber mood, but just as lovely as full sun in its own mysterious way. The balcony was closed because of the weather, so we got a little table by a picture window looking South down the coast. We chose our favorites from the menu, the spinach and shrimp salad for me and the hearty breakfast sandwich for my husband. We had wonderful, professional service, and the food arrived almost immediately. It was perfectly cooked, the shrimp being just slightly opaque, with a tangy vinaigrette dressing. The Sauvignon Blanc was the perfect light fresh wine to match the seafood. I love hotels because they offer so much. There are event balconies overlooking the sea, a large central lounge area with a fireplace, an enclosed porch with huge windows nearby, and a private event room lined with wine bottles in glass cases. On the way out, I was fascinated by photos of the Inn in its early days. My father-in-law had stayed here in 1927 and still remembered the view and the fun he had! This place is part of the history of Carmel and Highway One, and it brings to mind the beauty of the past mixed with the present! read more

Although the views are breathtaking, the service was absolutely terrible. Other than the waiter taking our order, he did not check on us once. Our table never even received water refills. Because we were a party of 8 unfortunately the tip was already included. If that was nice the case, he did not deserve a tip. The food was also mediocre. Heard of this place on TikTok so I absolutely had to come verify it for myself! I decided to do my birthday dinner here and I'm so glad it exceeded my expectations! From the friendliest hosts and servers to the food itself, I was beyond impressed. The calamari was BOMB (coming from my best friend who is a self-proclaimed calamari connoisseur). I wouldn't come back. 1) no hostess, was wondering if it was self seating 2) clam chowder legit had 4 clams, the potatoes were mushy, lack of seafood flavoring in the chowder, and the bread was blah(!) 3) every dish is $20+ and the quality of food doesn't match the price Eggs Benedict wasn't half bad. Honestly we were excited to come here, the front staff was super polite and accommodating me and my family, the views and ambiance of the restaurant were amazing and we all were happy. That is until our condescending waiter showed up. From the onset Tony rushed us for ordering, treated us like we couldn't afford to eat there by arrogantly stating that garlic fries were an additional charge with my steak frites. He never checked on our table , I was the only one out of four who received a refill on my Pepsi then he had the audacity to circle a tip option on our receipt. When you make a reservation at a restaurant you generally know what you're going to spend. Sit shouldn't matter if you have high end designer clothes or speak Italian. We drove 3 hours for a family day and decided to spend our lunch time here after seeing great reviews. Our food and drinks were amazing but our server was NOT. I believe his name was Tony, he was an older man. He was a lot nicer to those others around us when interacting. When my husband asked for garlic fries for his stake and Frits he immediately said "that's a $4 charge" in a condensing tone. When I looked over and said "okay" he immediately left. He hardly came to check on us but continuously checked on the table next to us, which I realized was because they looked more "high end". SO SO breathtkaking! The beautiful view is what caught my eye at first. I am obsessed with anywhere that has pretty views. I chose to sit outside on their patio so I could have views of the ocean while I ate. It did not disappoint! I love the fact that they made their seating glass. It really makes for a beautiful view.  As for the food and drinks, they were so good! I got the pancakes with berries, a mimosa, and a margarita. I also tried the açaí bowl with was really light and refreshing. Our server was super nice and attentive, always checking on us and making sure we had everything we needed. Parking is a but tough to find since the restaurant is in a hotel. I had to park a bit of a ways away, but then again I did go at peak time on a Saturday. Worst experience with super rude staff! We made sure to make reservation online and on the phone requesting window seats as we were celebrating very special occasion. When we walked in, the lady who was sitting guests was all smiling at the group before us and when she was us, all smile was gone and she rudely asked us about the reservation and took us to very small table. I told her we made request for window sitting and can wait but she was like oh that gonna take veeery long time. We sat down at totally different table but saw only few minutes later people coming in and sitting next to the windows (like 3-4 tables suddenly came available) Food is nothing special it was below average. Service is horrible, we were left as soon as the food was served until we finished our dinner and needed to wait for the bill for 20min. Everyone got water with lemon and whatnot but we were just given plain water even when we asked for lemon water. Will not recommend and will not come back read more

Beautiful spot for a nice brunch or lunch with gorgeous floor to ceiling views of the coastline. We chose to sit outside on a Monday for brunch. The heaters were on and we still needed blankets that they easily gave us. Service was excellent and very sweet and non-intrusive. I had to ask for water and that reminded me of our drought situation. The clam chowder is creamy and tasty. I had the halibut sandwich on delicious brioche bun. The halibut was fresh but a little dry although no complaints at all! Bloody mary was good and strong enough for 11am. All in all a great spot to see the views and have a bite. The main reason you want to come here is because of the ambiance and the view. It has an amazing view overseeing a cliff with the ocean waves hitting the coast. Pictures doesn't do it justice to be honest with you. Onto to the food, we got the blackened halibut sandwich with fries and the lobster ravioli. The blackened halibut sandwich was delicious and not too overpowering fishy. The lobster ravioli was a bit too salty, creamy and rich for our liking. The French fries were way too salty to eat. We got the sorbet for desserts which really helped saved the day because it was very refreshing and cleansed our palate from the fattiness and saltiness of the previous dishes. The Ambiance is the the star of the show. This is the most beautiful restaurant I have ever ate at to date. The food wasn't great and service was okay but the view made up for it 100%. I will say their calamari was really good but our entrees took about 40 minutes to come out. You can see the sun was out when we got there and ordered and the food didn't come out until sundown. Watching the sunset from our table though was spectacular though so I just have a lot of mixed feelings. The pairing of the halibut and polenta just wasn't to our liking. The polenta's excessive creaminess really takes away from the halibut which could've been better seasoned and lacked flavor. The ribeye was a complete let down for $65. The piece of steak I got was that super hard to eat chewy fatty part, but it felt like the entire steak was that way. It also didn't help that the knife was too dull to cut through it. The best thing I ate here was the calamari and the mash potato side on the ribeye plate which is sad for such a beautiful restaurant. The fries were not worth the price don't get them. Again like all my reviews, to each their own. Maybe the chefs just weren't having a great night and things got backed up. Server was okay, nothing special or extraordinary, and did leave us alone for a while. The bussers and the food runners did make sure our waters were refilled very often though so kudos to them. Overall, come for the views.. maybe grab a drink (I was going to drive 3 hours home so I didn't) but don't spend too much on the food it isn't worth the price. read more

We have dined at Pacific's Edge over the years but never for dinner! We are renting a home nearby and needed a quick dinner reservation but wanted to avoid golf tournament traffic in Pebble Beach. We arrived, parked easily and were seated although early for our reservation. We dined also with our 4 month old in his carseat. Dining with a baby can bring various reactions but every staff we encountered were welcoming and happy to see us with a baby (who luckily was quiet throughout our meal). We enjoyed cocktails, shared the beet salad and calamari to start then the mushroom risotto and Cioppino. Service was attentive but casual. Our server Chris really made our experience memorable.
