I love this place. My first archery experience was through a class here. The staff was informative and friendly. Though small, the facility seem to have everything you need for Robinhood or a beginner. I couldn't help he come back again with my niece just a week later. Please do remember that there are rules in this facility that are in place for the safety of others. If you're not sure about the rules, ask the staff! During my last visit, I feared for my nieces safety because a customer was being unsafe. The staff had told them warnings to obey the rules and in the end, the customer decided to just leave. I wanted to get back into archery (did it as a kid and loved it) so I signed up for a lesson and it was great. My instructor Leo explained everything from bow anatomy, range rules and safety to shooting tips. I was part of a small group (adults and kids) but we each had our own instructor who watched, gave advice and made corrections when needed. I did really well and Leo got to go relax for a bit (I didn't need much supervision; archery came back to me really well). I just need to practice! I've gone back there twice now, rented a bow and an hour on the lane. It's great they offer advice sometimes and just let you shoot. Everyone is very friendly and I know I'll keep coming back for a long time to come. I look forward to buying my own bow once I build up to a heavier one. Seriously lack of customer service (this is in regards to their classes). With establishments like this, I only wish there was more competitors out there to show them what a real business should look like. Including us, there were only 2 groups there, yet there was a lack of helpfulness for newbies like us. Thank goodness the boyfriend had a little bit of experience with shooting or we would had been shooting each other in the face. Lanes were mind-numbingly close- even bowling lanes have more space. If there were more people around, I probably would had accidentally shot them in the face. Even the other customers shooting next to us where more helpful than this group of fools that worked there. All in all, if it wasn't that I had an urge to work a bow and arrow, I wouldn't had gone to this place. Went here because of groupon and my son and I had been meaning to take up archery. Got us a couple groupon. The first lesson was short. I honestly wouldn't call it one. Just told us the basic form and what not to do and such. Then he left us alone. Our second one today was about the same. We were the only ones so they start us off early since nobody was using the lanes. Although we already know what we're doing. We still listen to what the lady has to say. Then she saw us stand on the lane and set out arrows. I guess she kinda figure we already know what we're doing. She asked us if we have done this before. We said yes. Then she asked if our reservation was for a lane or for a lesson. So I said i guess for lesson since that's what our groupon was for. Then she just left. It's fine because we have nore shooting time. The only reason why I'm giving them 3 stars because they charged me for a broken arrow. Somehow their target. Everytime I hit it right in the middle. The arrow bounch back. Had such a great time at Pacifica Archery. I got a groupon a couple of months ago, and decided to go today with my boyfriend. Scheduling was very easy and registrar was nice. I came in 35 minutes before because I thought that signing the waiver would take a long time, and I also thought that parking would be very hard, but we had no problem at all. Had a chance to talk to the owners and they were very warm, and I could tell how passionate they are about archery. Truly nice people. Our teacher Jerick was informative and funny. My experience is as a retail goods consumer. I did not take lessons from this store. They have a really good selection on Archery goods. The entire staff is pretty knowledgeable. The prices are pretty fair. I want to give kudos to Nathan because over the past 3 years (maybe I've visited 10 times?) he's always come up with very good solutions to whatever issues I have with my bows and arrows. At first I mistook his confidence for arrogance. But after visiting the shop over a period of time, his consistent problem solving has been very helpful to me and has saved me a lot of money and time. He's also pretty honest about the pricing, whenever I think about purchasing something, he quotes me the total cost. An example would be a compound bow purchase. It should cost about $800 but you'll see it retail for ~$500. But you want the necessary add-ons if you do purchase one. I'll continue to purchase my supplies from this store. read more

I went here for the first time ever a couple months ago with my Friend, he was interested in getting started with archery and we discovered this place through google. We took a drive from the Walnut Creek area (which took about 45mins) and we got to pull all sorts of bows for my friend. The guy that helped us was very knowledgeable about bows and especially traditional archery which is my main interest. The prices were kinda high but not nearly as high as the place in Martinez. Plus, they had a beautiful selection and beginning bows were actually decently priced. I hope to add a long bow to my collection someday soon. read more

Equipment rental - They help you with everything and super cheap ($8.00 for rental). I did not know what kind of bow I wanted until I got help from one of the staff. Be on time - They would love for you to be there ten minutes before you start your lesson. Staff issues - The two young gentlemen never seem to show any compassion towards the customers. But yes, they are freaking adorable!! - cough cough - and doing their job very seriously. Prices - Some of the equipment prices are a bit over the regular price you can find online, but it's worth it.. they sell arrows that help save ta-tas! Parking - Parking is pretty tough. Especially during the hours that everyone rushes at the last minute to get the "summer bod" on. But don't worry, there's always a spot somewhere in the lot. I feel as if the staff are always ready for any customer who walks straight through their doors. The team is very friendly and organized. First time trying archery and my boyfriend and I both had a blast! Everything was straightforward, safe, and fun! We had a beginner's lesson and our instructor was SUPER calm and supportive! If our form was off, he quietly corrected us w/o coming off judgemental or anything! When I mentioned my arm felt tired and that the bow was heavy, he quickly brought me a lighter bow and it really made all the difference! Wonderful activity and kind/relaxed staff. There is an absolutely horrid smell in this sad excuse for an archery range. The staff are unbelievably unwelcoming and rude. The equipment is old and rusty. Came in the other day with my younger brother who is 10 and after a couple of rounds of shooting, management rudely "reminded" him of some safety precautions. Telling a 10 year "if you do that again I'm going to have to kick you out" is extremely pitiful. When I heard that I instructed my younger brother to hand that rude and insecure manager his bow and arrows. I would not recommend this place to anyone at all if your trying to have a good time especially if you are going to go with your child or sibling. For God sake even the other people who were shooting had something rude to say to my younger brother. This place is a huge NO NO and a disgrace to the sport and livelihood of archery. Went here with a couple of my buddies for the first time trying to get back into shooting my recurve, they had a large selection of accessories and gear but over all I had a really bad experience, they were just way to busy to help me find a string especially cause there was no one really there maybe 2 people but they were on the shooting lanes, the two guys standing around behind the counter wouldn't even acknowledge me and the little asian lady was answering the phone, once the little asian lady lady running the phone and check out counter over heard me say I wanted to buy some arrows then its like "all hands on deck" So I told them I was getting back into archery and that I needed some arrows after showing me some carbon and aluminum the sales person quoted me $69 for a dozen alum. and $89 for a dozen carbon, they took my draw length cut the arrows and glued the tips in, then when it comes time to pay the lady tells me "Oh its 89 for both(carbon & alum)" after they just quoted me $69 when I brought it to her attention she just said "well sorry but the price is the price" then proceeds to tell me "but I didn't charge you for the field tips" which in the past have always come free when you purchase arrows, I was in a bit of a bind and needed the arrows that day so I bought some aluminum Easton Gamegetter 400's with feather fletchings, I got out to the range set up and went to fire a couple of the arrows and the feather fletching popped right off the shaft on three different arrows, who ever glued the fletching did a very piss poor job, after I got home I went online to price the arrows I found out they sell at two other semi-local archery shops for about $55, long story short I feel like I was ripped off and screwed over I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone ever read more

My wife expressed interest in bow hunting so we drove all the way to Pacifica Archery from Palo Alto without reading any reviews first. Leo was so helpful with all the bow selections/options we decided to buy a Mission bow and some arrows. They gave her a free lesson with the purchase of the bow so we scheduled it for later that week. When she went for her lesson, Leo was very professional and didn't once treat her like the newbie she was. He helped her sight in the optics and learn proper mechanics. She loved it so much I paid for her to have another lesson, which she loved equally as much. After 2 weeks I definitely was feeling left out so I returned to Pacifica Archery to purchase another bow for myself. I received the same courtesy and attention to detail my wife received. I decided I would go ahead and write a review as was shocked by the amount of bad reviews that are posted about this place. Apparently people don't have the gumption to ask questions or they feel the group lessons should be geared more for the individual. Don't let these reviews persuade you not to go here. im always trying to find things to do. jack of all trades, master of none.... i found archery to be strangely really relaxing. take the mental concentration of golf, minus your jackass friends making fun of you for your short game, the breathing and mediative quality of shooting, minus the constant noise and youre left with an activity that helps you control your breathing and sharpens your mental focus....... most everyone can benefit from that! at the old fairtex gym in dc, this shop has everything a newb could need, rentals, instruction and cool ass staff folks. for $20 bucks an hour, you can rent a bow and some arrows and shoot away. they can set up targets at super close range *about 5 yards out or so*, or just move those out the way and you can shoot clear across the room. ill be back. read more

It's a major shame that there aren't many other archery ranges in the Bay. Perhaps with more competition, the staff and owner of this establishment wouldn't have displayed as much attitude as they have to my group of friends. The following are the reasons I would think twice before coming back. Only half of our party (4 out of 7) arrived on time (of our reservation). For this, we apologize. The staff does not take kindly to late arrivals. It's unfortunate that they close at 8 (on Friday), but some of my friends get off work late, so it couldn't be helped. It meant the employees had to stay a little past closing time and they will let you know that it's not appreciated. Second, not many of us wanted lessons. We could tell the staff was not happy to hear this. The owner's son advised another staff very unsubtly to not waste further instruction on us because we weren't paying for the lessons. We were newbies, but we knew that our late comers were "more experienced archers" and we rather take lessons from them. Plus, the staff seemed so moody and to be taking himself so eff-ing seriously (passionate if you will), and we didn't get a good vibe from him. The last thing I wanted was more interaction with him. Thirdly, I made a reservation for a party of seven, but only six wanted to participate, so the owner charged us for seven people because they "turned away other business" to accommodate us. Had we known this, the seventh member of our party would have joined us in the activity. What I don't understand is there are 13 lanes. Including my party, only seven lanes were occupied. Assuming my entire party wanted to participate, there was room for five other customers. Where were they? Fourth, they are extremely defensive people with a fat chip on their shoulder. They called "last round" and my friends wanted clarification on whether it meant it was the "last shot" or the "last set." The owner came over and proceeded to grill us on all our faults, including the late arrivals, because she misheard us saying "shut up." We said no such thing, but it's easy to misinterpret, seeing how they didn't like us to begin with. They tried to grill us again at check out, accusing me of canceling the reservation "several times." False again. I made the reservation once and never cancelled. The closest thing to canceling was we changed the appointment from Saturday to Friday because the range were booked full on Saturday. What is up with the accusations? Where are your social graces? One thing I have to give them credit for is that they are financially fair. My friends who arrived late were only charged for half the equipment and lane rental. You can say their actions speak loudly than words, but I would rather not get so much lip from them. After all, I don't know anyone who plans on becoming a professional archer. Can't we assume that people going to an archery range just want to have fun? Lighten up. To summarize: 1. Don't mess with their money. 2. Take archery seriously. If you think it's a laughing matter, you will be wrong. 3. If Hunger Games were ever to come into existence, we are all screwed. read more

As many people mentioned, they have horrible customer service. If you don't want to get ripped off, then don't come here. My group booked a one hour session for lane use, and we got there 15 minutes early like they suggested just to make sure we can go through the equipment rental without having it cut into our 60 min shooting time. However, when the hour clock struck, the previous session was STILL shooting and I didn't see any employee wrapping them up. My group had to wait another 10 minutes before someone finally told them it was their last shot. Then they took another 5 minutes to set up the next session, and throughout this whole time, no one cared for my group who was just standing and waiting there. I assumed that since our session started 15 minutes past the hour, we would get an extra 15 minutes after for our fair share, but to my disappointment, the employee actually told us to wrap up 5 minutes before the hour, making our session a total of 45 minutes. I felt bad for the people in my group who were new. For those of you who come across the same situation as me, make sure you bring it up beforehand that your session started late and you expect to run past the hour, otherwise you will have your time taken for granted like ours did. Also, one of the male employees got a little too touchy with one of the female customers which made me uncomfortable. Especially since he did it right after he asked the random question of if she and her friend just recently got engaged, when there were clearly no ring on her finger! Then after she awkwardly answered no, they were just friends, he silently walked away and came back a few minutes later to correct her form by coming up really close to her and putting his entire left hand into her back and right hand adjusting her right elbow. I get that form is important but I don't see a difference in that left hand being there. The guy she came with was shooting with his back to her and had no idea all this was going on behind him. All in all, I am moving on from this place and finding another archery location with better customer service, which I know won't be hard. read more

Ordered a bow 27 days go(was supposed to arrive in about 2 weeks), I called to find out what was taking so long and they tell me they sold it! Then they try and offer me a cheaper bow after I had already paid for the one I had ordered. I refused it and they got snappy and rude saying they couldn't do anything more. Finally I got them to order me a new bow (the one I originally ordered) and I still have to wait two weeks. I'm livid. I won't be returning here for many more of my archery purchases. read more

I am a self taught shooter, and I put my own arrows together, so I come here for parts when needed. Their staff seems to have two regulars that I always see. Two males, in their twenties, and both have pretty bad customer service. They don't smile, straight faced, unfriendly, monotone, sarcastic, and they do not explain things to new customers. I brought a friend here to get some arrows for his bow and he didn't really know what to expect since he didn't do his research, but they just gave the options of which arrows and what price he wanted, then they cut them and put the tips on and that's it. Warrior carbons were $45 for 6 or $90 for 12 (should have made it $80 for 12 IMO) came with cutting, feathers, knocks, insterts, and points. But anyways, no explanation, not even small talk in the process of cutting. However, I will give it to them that their prices for arrow components are fair. Ive searched prices for carbon shafts, custom built arrows, tips, feathers, inserts, you name it - all on the internet and this place is your best bet to get it in your hands at a competitive price. However, their arm guards, and gloves are overprices about $5 more than what I see online, or even at the new Dick's sporting goods store ($10 for a good arm guard, and $16 at pacifica archery), so get the arm guard and glove somewhere else if you want to save some money. Anyways, if you want to come here just for arrow shafts/parts and don't mind how you are treated, it is a great spot to do so, but if you seek customer service and a friendly environment, this is not the place. Plus their showroom needs more light, It's dark as hell in there. read more

Be carefully you checked your bill because they would trick some items to overcharge you! I tried to buy a new set of bow from this shop recently because it is the dealer. First of all, the young owner with long hair put $100 on a $30 dollars bow accessory, as I pointed out he modified the price, then tricked me to put another $30 dollars to a unnamed item, and then he said he need to charge me with the shooting time for testing the new bow. I have been to their indoor shooting ranch several times. When you buy new bow from them, usually they let you use the shooting ranch for free (this is different from you practice shooting). This is not a honest shop. I won't be back to the shop again. read more

We bought the Groupon for Pacifica Archery as a nice birthday surprise for my sons and they loved it. It's definitely something different and new and works well as a solo activity that they can still do together. We ended up trying the youth class and trey really liked it. I went to get a beginner compound bow and first of all, the customer service is very bad. It took us about 15 minutes just for somebody to notice that we were there, and then an other 10 minutes to get somebody to help us. When we finally got some service, we were sized (which a later found out that my bow was not correctly set for my height and strength) and then he gave us a lesson on how to use it. During the lesson we personalized our scopes to our specifications (I then found out that that too was also improperly done). A couple days later, I dry fire (shot a bow without an arrow in it) and the strings come off the rails (which is expected when you dry fire a compound bow). I went to have them fix it. This was also a bad experience. It took us again 20 minutes to get service, and when we got service he fixed my bow and gave it back to me. The next day I go to shoot my bow, but for some reason he forgot to put back the little plastic thing that positions that strings away from the arrow rest (if you don't know what I'm talking about, its just a very important piece that you must have on in order to shoot the bow). I am planning on going back to their place to have them do it over. The reason that I go there is because its very close to where I live, and all of the other places are in Newark and farther. They also have free repairs and maintenance when you buy a bow from them. When you buy a bow from them: - Make sure that it actually shoots with no problem or suspicious noises after maintenance or purchasing the bow - Make sure that the sight is properly set (the pins are in the same position as the place where is arrow is shooting) - Make sure that the arrows you get are good quality (make sure that the feathers, tip, and knock (back part of arrow) are all properly glued/attached and do not come loose when you touch them. - Make sure that the trigger release is working properly, and does not get stuck (compound bows only) I don't trust the people and quality of work that they do, so make sure to double check everything. If you are a first timer, maybe bring a friend that has experience in bow repairs, or that has been doing archery for a good period of time. read more

From Derrick, who took my call, placed my reservation, and told me about filling out the online waiver prior to arrival; to Nathan, who answered questions, checked us in, wrangled the whole group for the lesson, and checked us out efficiently; to Robert, who gave us a thorough lesson on equipment use and actual shooting, and offered helpful 1:1 pointers during the 30-40 mins we shot; this experience was GREAT! My friend and I had a lot of fun, the place and staff were organized, helpful, and friendly; and we actually got pretty good at the basics during the first lesson. I will go back to PA and shoot again! Tips for a good time: 1. Fill out the waiver and confirm the email prior to showing up 2. Come 15-20 minutes early to get parking (it's limited), be set up with equipment, and participate in the full lesson 3. Wear something with a belt loop (e.g. jeans) 4.
