To be blunt, the house was filthy with a large list of issues. We wanted out the first day but there was nothing available anywhere on that weekend. We therefore requested a full refund of the amounts paid, nearly $2000. As of this posting, the refund has not come through even though they said is would be coming. Here is a partial list of what we encountered. Oven did not work. Dishwasher did not work and smelled like a sewer. We were told to take the dishes two flights downstairs to wash them in a sink. Kitchen sink did not drain and smelled like sewer. Rodent poop on every counter in every room. Toilets were filthy with pubic hair and dirt. Spiders and cobwebs virtually everywhere. No internet as advertised. No TV as advertised. Hot tub was half full and smelled moldy. Damage to many areas in the house including walls and floors. The couch looked like dogs ripped it up. No garbage can or any way to dispose of garbage. We have many photos that document our findings. The elderly ladies who run the Wild Coast Vacations run a scam and should be shut down permanently.

We enjoyed our stay immensely and are sure to use to this vacation rental next time we are in Gold Beach.

We ran out of toilet paper because we were only given two rolls for 6 nights. The trash was locked so we couldn't dump. Hot tub and jacuzzi were boarded up and unavailable to use. Washer and dryer are coin operated and limited amount of quarters are supplied. Hot water is intermittent. Credit card was charged early without warming. Communication with landlord was necessarily complicated. Landlord anonymously checked in multiple times during our stay. We will not be staying at the Driftwood again and would discourage others from doing so. We regret not checking YELP for the other reviews on The Driftwood.

Where do we put the trash bags!? Leave them in your "$1.3 million dollar house!?" --In the "loft" he does not provide blinds so you wake up with the sun. The UGLY: yes it gets worse.... --He tried to CANCEL our stay ONE HOUR before we arrived (from CA and WA) because of bad weather. Not only that, but he only mentioned it when WE called, and AFTER he charged us for full for the stay! --The random "drive bys" that Greg does to check on the place. He admitted that he does this. Creep. --Two rolls of TP per bathroom that he expects to last your entire stay with TWELVE people. --NO HEAT. He told us the propane tank was out, and he would not fill it. Instead, because we insisted, he provided a few space heaters. CHEAP. One of my MANY regrets is that I didn't look up his reviews on flipkey.com until right now. Other people have had these same issues--unbelievable. The man is the absolute worst vacation-renter I've ever dealt with. A nightmare. STAY AWAY!!!!

Where to begin…read more.. Booked our 22 anniversary there scheduled to arrive 8/28/25. The room according to the website is available at 4pm, which I have never heard of this late a check in time, but my wife had stayed there in the past and wanted to go. So, I call about 2:30 to see if we can check in, "nope, it is still being cleaned." OK, we stall until 4. 1. 4:17 after waiting 17 minutes on other guest and try and check in and the room is still not ready. 2. 4:35 "oops, the room is not unclean it is double booked. "no problem we will find you something even if we have to upgrade." 3. 4:50 here is an upgraded room w/ a fireplace, it is supposed to not be pet friendly but we will make it work. We set off to the new room, unpack out things, climb to the second floor only to discover the room has one bed instead of 2. 4. 4:55, go back, wait in line and inform them it won't work while my family is waiting in the parking lot w/ all our stuff. While I was standing in line 4 other people in front of me are there for various complaints, key card won't work, double booked and someone is in the room, 1 bed instead of 2, gal allergic to dogs in put in a pet room, etc. 5. 5:30 they have scrambled and talked to various employees trying to find a room, the check in employee is not from there and not familiar w/ the rooms. 6. 5:40 the new employee discovers the room building we were originally booked to move in has several rooms open which she could have given me at 4:17, but she didn't know the layout. 7. While I am waiting, she offers me the free breakfast, "Great what is it?" " I don't know she states. "Is the spa up and running I ask." "No that is not working." Later the staff told me the spa hasn't been opened in months and corporate won't change the website. 8. 5:50 we move all our stuff from the one originally given to our new room. We finally get in the room at 6pm. 9. The room... Have to give kudos where they are due in order for it to be a good review. Spacious, nice new mirrors, vanity/sink area is large and the bathroom is nice but it ends there. 10. 6pm we finally settle in the room. We find the pillows are only 1.5-2" thick, wrap 4 layers of cardboard in a towel and you get the idea. so my wife sends my son off to the original room to find the personal pillow they had left behind. He found the gal who was allergic to pets in the same room we had already brought our pet into. 11. Towels are so thin and dingy they are identical to what I use in my shop as rags. Coffee pot doesn't work. Toilets flush, but you need to hold down on them for 30 seconds and you have a 50/50 chance of it flushing completely. Minimal but a bed reading light is out. So much for first impressions. 12. The heat was stuck at 78d all night and we couldn't lower it, sweated all night until maint, found it didn't work in the am. Only thing to do was to turn it off. 13. The "Ocean View" is looking over a parking lot, then a large area of a broken down, beat up building that looks like it should be destroyed which is the spa area. The spa area about 30' long and 12' high making the primary view below the ocean. You can see the ocean over the top of it, not bad view but completely disrupted by the decrepit spa building. Maintenance told us of the 3 spas there, all had broken at various times in the past and none were working but the corporation owning the hotel wouldn't spend any money on it. 14. They have a balconies including chairs and a table but are so narrow if you sit in the chair anyone passing has to turn sideways or the person in the chair has to turn their legs like in a movie theater. Not as bad, but close. If someone is carrying luggage, forget it, the sitting person has to stand up. 15. 8 am. The maintenance crew start work on the floor above us, so much for sleeping in 16. Midday, we have to move our cars in the parking lot as they are spray painting. 17. Every guest I talked to there had a complaint of one sort or another. The guest next to us had urine stained carpet that smelled of urine. 18. I complained to the manager the next day and she was very nice, patient etc. citing new employees as the challenge. She even comped me a room for one night. To be honest she was quite pleasant and apologetic about the whole affair. All the staff were really nice, but not one staff member had anything positive to say about the management of the hotel. The hotel has great potential. A great location, great access to the beach, the view of the spa building could be pleasant if it was kept up but not as is. The breakfasts were biscuits and gravy, next day eggs and potatoes. Pretty good for a smaller hotel, unfortunatley they ran out by 9am. Can't change the balconies but buy some pillows and towels, clean the rooms, fix the spa, prepare enough breakfast for what you have booked and hire someone who knows how to book and is familiar w/ the hotel. Paint on the outside wouldn't hurt either. It is not nice or pretty.

I think I've drove by it many times, but it didn't hit me to check it out. DUH on my part. Cute little cottages in an RV park type setting. What I LOVE about Cottages is that no one is making noise above you or below you or banging on the walls beside you. You have your own little place. Peace and quiet. I checked into cottage #706. Nice ocean view. Light and airy. It had a coastal theme of lighthouses and sailboats. It smelled clean. No musty, moldy, smoke or pet smells. It was clean. Bathroom was nice and clean. Kitchenette was clean. Refrigerator was clean. Floor was a nice wood vinyl with no carpets and yes... it was clean. Bedroom was clean. Furniture was clean. WOW....seriously? What strange place is this? I actually didn't feel like I had to clean. It reminded me of coming home or maybe staying at your great lost Aunt's house. The only negative, my cabin didn't have WiFi. Yes, they do have WiFi, but the cabins closer to the ocean do not have it. Also, bring your own shampoo. They do have body soap, but it's very basic. Great weekly prices, clean and yes, I would recommend this place even without WiFi.

This is our 2nd trip here, but the first in one of the cottages. We stayed in #38, and it was…read morereally nice. There's a queen size bed in the room and two twin beds in the loft. They provide you with basic cooking items and cleaning, along with toiletries. There's a fan in the living room and bedroom for those warm summer nights and a TV in all three spaces. The deck is huge! And the hot tub is good for 4. You're literally steps from the path to the ocean and if you walk off your deck and in between a couple bushes you'll see it. It would be nice if those shrubs were cut way down just to see the ocean and river that goes behind the cottage.

The staff is very friendly and the park as well maintained. They have a laundry room and a new dog run area. You can walk down to the ocean from the RV park. The beach goes on for miles in either direction. The beach can get windy at times, but on this particular trip visit, we had outstanding weather. They used to have the Tortuga Mexican food restaurant; however, that went out of business recently. Arch Rock Brewery took over their space. Does it get any better? A brewery and hot tub at the RV park at the ocean. The resort also serves breakfast now, and we took advantage of that. My favorite breakfast items were the sausage breakfast burrito and the French toast. They also make delicious mochas.

The Jacuzzi had its own space which was lovely and peaceful, and included a view of the waves from the Jacuzzi itself! The lady at check-in was super friendly and extremely helpful. And don't get me started on the light show, I've never seen anything quite like this and found it to be fascinating and quite special! Property is also near the beach and has easy access to it. We were not disappointed at all - the facility is great! Walking down to the beach after sunset was pretty amazing, with the lower lawn area lit up quite tastefully. The room was clean and well-appointed with all we needed. We found the bed to be very comfortable. I had a chance to visit the hot tub, which is also clean and well-maintained. We'll definitely be back again soon.
