They twice told me I needed a crown instead of fillings. I got one of the crowns done, and then switched insurance to a very expensive one so on Jan 1st I'd be able to get the other one done. (They were not happy I wanted to wait a month and a half to get a crown). I saw a new dentist in January and he said I just needed a deep filling, and looked over my X-rays and said I never needed the first crown. They upsold me on a laser gum treatment and told me insurance would cover it.... It covered $40? I paid the remaining $150 out of pocket. I also got a bill from them 7 months post service saying insurance didn't cover something. When I looked at my insurance, it was denied for failure to submit the claim in a timely fashion. It took 3 phone calls before I finally said: "it looks like it was denied because it wasn't submitted by your staff on time, is that what you're seeing on your end" and magically the bill disappeared. Great personalities, terrible people, terrible treatment.

Upon arrival, I was filling out forms and became very uncomfortable with a page of 'fees' based on a variety of scenarios such as calling to cancel an appointment within 48 hours of a scheduled exam. In the past, I have contracted a cold or illness before a scheduled medical appointment. These issues happen but this provider was going to charge you a hefty fee for calling to cancel an appointment 48 hours ahead of time...ridiculous. The one that bothered me the most was the transfer fee if you decided to go to another dental provider. This is when I decided not to use this dental practice. I understand when you fail to show up for an exam but when responsible people are being 'nickeled and dimed' this is where I chose to seek another dental practice.

When I was 18 I had to find my own dentist, so I opened up the phone book (yes, I know, I just aged…read moremyself) closed my eyes, and pointed to a random one on the page. It happened to be Quality Dental Care. What a fearless and naive young adult I was- just blindly following the whims of fate. I was also pretty lucky because I ended up as a patient of Dr. Trumms for 12 years! I will be switching due to my insurance changing. And, let me tell you I'm seriously distraught over the situation. Hence- why I am writing this review. Looking into finding a new practice has shown me how lucky I have been over the years. While yes, there are several comfort features they offer to the more timid dental goers... I have established that I am fearless and never took the staff up on their offers of comfy blankets, TV's positioned above me, or massage chairs. What I found more appealing was the transparency in services. As the teeth nurses do their initial examination, they identify the strength of your gums and use a tiny camera to collect the data and input it into a computer to give you a visual. I no longer had to wonder how my teeth were doing because I was finding out in real time with their equipment. This is vastly different from other offices where the dentist just gives you the thumbs up or [thumbs] down. The Hygienists are knowledgable and always available for additional education if you prompt them. They stay very informed on the newest technologies including brushes, water picks, and types of toothpaste. They are seriously experts. I challenge you to ask them a question and wait for your mind to be blown. I can also attest that I have had many for years! It speaks volumes to find a staff so cohesive and long running... like Grey's Anatomy. They also communicate with ear pieces. If the doc is in the middle of a procedure, they will call for additional instruments instead of having to run in and out of the room. This increases the efficiency and reduces the amount of time one must spend in the chair with their mouth open in an obviously unflattering position. Speaking of flattering, shoutout to Brittany the real MVP of my glorious smile. The woman breaks it down for ya'. Instead of trying to compete with patients checking in at the front desk, there is a separate checkout desk to go over your visit and review charges. Goodbye surprise bills! She also helps you set up a follow up visit for your next cleaning. This is great because I would totally just run out the door and later find myself counting on my fingers how long its been since I had a cleaning. Now, I just have to glance at my calendar. Oh yeah, let's talk Trumm. He is a fantastic guy. A real family man. Every time I go in he gives me an update on the kiddos and asks how my life is going. Like seriously, so personable. He's also pretty great about adjusting lights so they aren't in my eyes and other little things that I'm currently blanking on. He has also saved me quite a bit of money. I have a spot on one of my teeth that any other doc would want to fill, but he has just been watching it. I love that he always takes the conservative approach. I can't tell you how many times this gent has saved me from uncomfortable procedures, down time, and excessive unnecessary spending. You can tell he really enjoys what he is doing and has fun. In my MANY years of coming here I have never been canceled on. I didn't realize what a big deal that is until I started my research of other offices. It really made me think, Dr. Trumm is the Bees knees. All in all, I'd say they're an iight group.

I am writing this review to say that this visit was great! It was pleasant! The whole thing took less than an hour. The entire procedure was absolutely painless. I did not feel a thing. It was so efficiently done that I hardly realized how much time had passed. Dr. Miller and Tracy her assistant talked to me the entire time and kept me entertained. Even after the procedure I still do not feel a thing. I was very impressed with the efficiency of the entire procedure and how much work was able to be done in a short amount of time. I asked if I can see the X-ray but they said you wouldn't be able to see it as it is in between. Came back to get them filled and the dentist and the assistant were talking about how they are going on a Disney cruise with their family and how they should be closed on Saturday as I'm sitting there Saturday and the doctor needs time off because they are working so much? What? Why should I be hearing this as a patient. I understand they shouldn't just work their in silence on my teeth but maybe understand your patients can hear you and choose a different topic of conversation versus complaining about your work schedule on the day I'm sitting there. Then confusion on billing. All I need to know is the price you are charging me and then I can call my insurance myself to confirm what is covered! 2 fillings is a normal procedure so either they upsold me or lied about their cost. Fast forward 6 months for my cleaning. Reached out for a reminder and only has 1 appointment time available in the next 3 weeks. I said okay, I will call back. Was able to text and confirmed an appointment but unfortunately after I confirmed a major change in my schedule for work changed and here I am 4 days later trying to get a hold of the office to change and/or cancel out of respect for their schedule and can't get a hold of anyone. Was on hold for a total of 50 minutes!!!!! Sent the texts back for 4 days asking to cancel and/or change and then submitted another request online to cancel/change but nothing. This is a simple cleaning! I understand if I needed more extensive work but there a million other dentists in the state of Nebraska that can do that and clearly this place does not. Hire more staff or stay open longer to accommodate your patients!! I'm giving up and taking my insurance money elsewhere!

At that former location, I always felt as if the provider was constantly trying to upsell products and services, and the conversations with them always seemed somewhat superficial and merely out of politeness. It's different at MiBoca, and especially with Tiffany O., an amazing RDH and genuinely good person. My doc (Hayes) is great, too, but it's the RDH who spends 30 minutes digging around in your mouth and with whom you get to know and love (hopefully). Aside from the approach to dentistry and customer relationships, the new facility on Pacific and 180th is very nice. Walking into a beautiful new facility just creates a better impression than some of the sketchy-looking practices elsewhere around town. Recommend!

The hygienist that is always very nice and carries on interesting conversations. My favorite thing about Dr. Matz is that he takes the time to get to know you. If you are apprehensive about going to a dentist, Dr. Matz would be a good dentist to go to. He'll put your fears at ease quickly.
