Pacific Siamese Rescue is awesome! My experience with them has been wonderful! The application process is very thorough, yet this is necessary in finding homes for animals that have experienced much suffering. They are very knowledgable and care about the cats and kittens they foster to no end. They are committed to finding them great homes, even if this means they must stay at a foster's home for several months. In May I adopted a 3 year old seal point male. He had been homeless prior and was underweight, flee and worm infested. The foster who was caring for him was wonderful and extremely knowledgable. She assisted me he choosing him after I explained to her what type of cat I was looking for. Several months later she is still available to support and provide advice as well as share photos with! Now I can't imagine my life without new furry friend, Gio. He is the perrrrrfect cat for me! About a month ago I decided that it might be nice for Gio to have a friend, and again Pacific Siamese Rescue helped me choose a perfect little playmate for him. Just yesterday I adopted my second seal point, this time a female, Lu Lu. When I went to meet her, her foster mom, Diana, sat with me for over an hour while we played with the cats and talked. She explained to me in detail how to best integrate the new cat and answered all my questions. She was more than gracious, giving me several of Lu Lu's toys as well as some of the wet and dry food that she had been eating, so that her transition would go a smooth as possible. Gio and I love our new addition already. Somehow the wonderful people at Pacific Siamese Rescue knew that Lu Lu would be a great fit! I love having these 2 wonderful and loving animals in my life! I recently adopted two beautiful seal point siamese boys from PSR. I could not be more thrilled with the experience. The application process was fairly painless as the only snag was getting the appropriate paperwork from my landlord's property management company (one of the many issues with renting in San Francisco). After that I was approved instantly and started browsing the site for a match. There were 3 sibling kittens I was looking at that were so adorable, but they were adopted before I was available to set up a visit. I stayed patient and continued to check the site for another match when I came across Spike and Angel. They were so beautiful and I could tell right away that they were a fit for me. I applied, setup a first visit, fell in love immediately, and was offered the opportunity to adopt. YES PLEASE! The boys are not brothers, but they have been spending 24 hours a day with each other for the past 4 months, so needless to say they are quite the bonded pair. I couldn't imagine NOT having both of them as they add so much personality to our household. Based on my experience, PSR's kitten policy is there for a reason. Thank you so much Leigh and Mary! I lost my beloved Siamese of 12 years to leukemia. The vet gave him 2 years when he was first diagnosed, but through diligent care, love, and attention, he lived another 7. In the end I was hand-feeding him. When he passed I was - obviously - devastated. I just love Siamese cats for all of their personality and charisma and quirkiness. I believed (still do) that a rescue is the most responsible way to go. What I quickly learned was that an organization called Pacific Siamese Rescue almost immediately takes custody of all stray and surrendered Siamese cats from shelters in the bay area. Rather than buy a purebred or travel out of the county to adopt a cat, I contacted PSR. In two days' time, I'd filled out a questionnaire, an information form, provided veterinary records for all prior pets, and answered some seemingly mindless questions about how my prior pets were handled. I pretty much wrote an essay describing my cat's personality, the disease he'd had, the care I gave him, the treatments, and the tremendous loss in losing my loving pet and companion. Then I waited over 2 weeks to hear back. In the meantime, I spoke to 2 PSR "foster" volunteers. Both women were loaded up with Siamese cats. For one of the foster volunteers, of every cat I mentioned (from looking at their website), she'd respond with some variation of "I ain't so sure I can give that one up....he/she's a real cuddlebug. I might keep him/her." Here I am just about giving them my blood type and W2 statements, and two-teeth Tillie is trying to decide if she can part with members of her cat farm who she's allegedly "fostering". Something definitely wrong here. After 15 days of waiting, I emailed Denise Fabel to ask about the status of my application. Here is her response: "We have reviewed your application and decided not to approve you for cat adoption." The reason? This I quote directly: "What kind of cat owner allows their cat to get leukemia?" (I still have the email). Thanks to Denise Fabel's repulsive arrogance, ignorance, and utter lack of class, one more cat missed out on a great home and likely remained one of the 12 or 13 cats crammed into a "foster" home. This is not mindful cat care. I finally ended up with 2 beautiful Siamese...but not from the ridiculous and insensitive organization that calls itself Pacific Siamese Rescue. I sincerely hope someone shuts them down, or at least conducts an investigation of their fostering policies and monopoly over adoptable Siamese cats in the Bay Area. I won't tell you not to adopt from them; in fact, please do...if it means getting one more cat out of the clutches of these incompetent women. Update - July 23, 2012. I just saw Leigh/Diane's response to my post. I am not Nancy F. I never applied to your organization as Nancy F. In fact, your mistake about who I am and how "similar' my story is to this other woman who made the same claims against you only proves my point: You people just have too much control over adoptable Siamense cats in the Bay Area, and are judgemental and discriminatory in your practices. I did not have 3 cats, I had one. He was never an outdoor cat in the first place and certainly never went outside once he was diagnosed. You tried to paint a picture of me as a terribly irresponsible cat owner and you are just wrong. I stand by every claim I make. I was absolutely contacted by not one but two "foster" people (both were women). Obviously this was before my application was denied because I thought I was approved and this was why they were calling me. Interesting you don't even know what goes on inside your own disorganized collective. Last update - 9/2012. Nice try, Leigh. If I post the email here that I received in 2005 from Denise Fabel asking me "What kind of cat owner allows their cat to contract leukemia?" then I get sued for libel. You can call me a liar all you want but I have no reason to make this stuff up, nor to I need to prove my identity and experience to you. What is libelous is your second attempt at trying to identify me as Nancy F, and in doing so, stating the details of her adoption attempts, then insisting that I am her. You should not go to Pacific Siamese Rescue. I think this organization is pretty bad or abusive in their candidate selection criterias . We submitted all required information and we received a response that the board (Denise Fabel) declined our application due to missing information from our veterinary. We had proof from our veterinary that we took care of our previous animals (a cat and a dog that recently passed away at old age) and two friends filled the rescue requested forms and supported our application. We wanted to have another cat and save the life of a rescue cat. My friends and co-workers could not beleive we were denied adopting a rescue cat. My partner and I had a few cats for many years and we took great care of them until their last moments. I would not recommend this organization if you are thinking of adopting a cat. Something is wrong in their candidat selection criterias. Many other organization do a great job for saving animal lifes. read more

A house is not a home without a furry ball of love to greet you after work. We adopted Aiden and Finn from Pacific Siamese Rescue two years ago. The process is a bit more time consuming than say going to a pet store, but it is because these people really care about the animals they're placing. Because the cats live with the fosters, they can tell you all about their personalities, so you can find a cat that works with your lifestyle. They do all of the hard stuff involved in rescue, you get to feel good about adopting, and the kitton gets a new home. Everyone wins. read more

I registered as an adopter at PSR and had the best experience. While I didn't end up adopting my kitties through them, I still check back on the site from time to time (okay, I admit, all the time) to check on the kitties to see if they have been adopted, to see the adorable kitten pics, and to read Stephanie's hil-AIR-ious descriptions of the kittens she fosters. She is so funny - I actually think that she should win some sort of kitty rescue comedy award. I actually contacted her about a slight little behavioural problem that one of my kitties developed, and she had all sorts of advice for me. These kitty people are really amazing. Great rescue group for colorpoint/siamese and regular kitties! They thoroughly interview prospective applicants (including possible visit to the home) and follow up on the cats afterward. They know a lot about the cats as they are in a foster situation with other cats/dogs/children, etc. They really care about making the best match possible. They are a great group to deal with. I would definitely adopt from PSR again! read more

I just got an email stating that I did not agree with their adoption policies and was free to make that decision. All I'd done was send in an application, then ask about the status of that application. After thirty some years of owning pets that lived long and healthy lives! Who are these people? And what profile of owner do seek? I am confused and insulted. It is interest that she defended so quickly (less than 20 Minutes), yet I received only her cryptic message. I encourage anyone else so treated not to be discouraged. There are many fair and un-club like sources for Siamese kittens. Adoption policies should not be secret and should focus on vaccination, safe environment, experience with the breed and history of exemplary pet care. Pets thrive in such environments. All the rest is silly pretentiousness. read more

Pacifc Siamese Rescue is wonderful! I have fostered for them. They did a great job of patiently waiting and searching for just the right adopters for the cats I fostered. When I foster a cat in my home that cat becomes part of my family while it is with me and I grow to love the cat. I can't say enough about how important it has been to know PSR is careful in their adopter approval process for these precious cats. I highly recommend them. read more

I adopted two kittens through PSR and it was a great experience. Everyone was really friendly and helpful. The process itself was pretty quick--they followed up with my references and other information very quickly. When it came time to choose a cat, all the foster parents that I contracted responded with great information about the cats that I asked about. Even after the adoption, the Rescue has been great, checking in from time to time to see if I have any questions or issues. I highly recommend adopting through PSR. read more

We had a great experience adopting from this group. Diana and Susan were wonderful in answering questions and allowing us to come to their homes to visit the cats. They were funny, caring and realistic - all much appreciated qualities. There was one foster mother who was not so keen to give information or let go of her pride (of cats), but there is someone like that in every group. I recently adopted a lovely kitten from the Pacific Siamese Rescue group. The experience was fantastic and I would do it again in a heartbeat. These people (all volunteers) are all wonderful and so knowledgeable about Siamese and cats in general. Yes, the application process can be a little lengthy, but you wouldn't hand over your child to any stranger would you? There are checks and balances; they want to make sure to match the appropriate kitty to the appropriate parent(s). Do you get email check-ins from shelters or backyard breeders? PSR do, they call and email just to make sure everything is okay. They guide you through the entire process and try to make it as streamline as possible. The people who work in this organization are like the Mother Teresas of Siamese cats. They provide rehabilitation and care to siamese who have been abandoned and/or abused in unspeakable ways. I adopted a beautiful 14 yr old Siamese from them whose name is Mitzi. She was neglected and abandoned and for over a year she was fostered by PSR. They restored her health and her dignity on account of their efforts Mitzi is living out her golden years in cat bliss. read more

I have always had Siamese cats (seriously, I have baby pictures with Siamese cats in my crib; if you know me, then this probably explains a lot about me...). So, when my sweetie and I decided to start a fur- family, I thought, "Hmmm... I wonder if there is a Siamese Rescue?" knowing that a friend of mine got her dog through a breed rescue. And, much to my amazement, there was! While I personally cannot imagine why anyone would ever give up a Siamese cat, we have already established that I am possibly mentally ill after sharing a crib with their people. With that said... I contacted Pacific Siamese Rescue, and I was really thrilled. They are ALL volunteers, and they go above and beyond for the cats. They also do not turn away cats or kittens who are not Siamese if there is a litter where only one cat is Siamese. This is a big deal, because other Siamese rescues have been known to take ONLY cats that have Siamese markings, leaving the non- Siamese cats to be euthanized or left in the pound (sick and WRONG). PSR takes amazing care of their cats and kittens. They are quarantined, examined, giving all shots and are spay/ neutered prior to you adopting them. They can also give you an honest answer about a cat's personality and habits prior to your adopting them, so you can get an idea if you will be a good match for the cat. We were planning on getting one cat, but ended up with two because they were good friends while being fostered together and because we fell in love with them. PSR takes a little time to get back to you, so be patient. It is worth the wait; remember, these folks volunteer their time, homes and personally finance these animals. It is not like they have staff to respond immediately. They will also grill you about your intentions for adopting. While this may put some people off, please remember that they want the cats to have permanent homes, not be turned out on the street or be in an abusive situation. Sadly, there are a lot of people out there that adopt animals to hurt them, which is disgusting. I would rather have someone make me fill out a ton of forms and interview me to death in order to protect the critters, than a group that is just handing cats out to get rid of them. My advice is to be patient with the process and have fun learning about all of the nice cats out there that need your love. When it is all said and done, PSR will help you meet the right one(s) for you, and you will be glad you went through the process!!!! read more

Actually, I have been very disappointed here. Their response time was pretty long, and in the end, they totally rejected me because I have a deck, a deck on the third floor with no access to the ground, other animals or hazards. I would love to have a Siamese, as my best friend, who died, had two that I adored. They did apparently return my registration fee, so at least I was not ripped off to boot. I will definitely look elsewhere. I just thought the kitties would enjoy the fresh air, so I really don't get it. I know I certainly love fresh air! read more
