    Been going here for years for the fried chicken skin. So good and good prices. Very friendly owners. Open everyday except Monday. No more buffet. It's take out only since Covid.

    I don't know why this place only has 3 stars. I live in the area and I've tried every Chinese food place in the area and this is the best place for American style Chinese food. Hands don't the best Chinese food in in the top of the hill area!!!

    I came here for the first time on Lunar Chinese New Year while walking my dog and this place saved my family dinner! The food was delicious, the portions were generous, the wait was quick, and the lady was so sweet and delightful! I wish I knew about this place sooner but I'll be coming back very often from here on out! So happy and lucky that I found my neighborhood Chinese to go spot

    Family dinner and we wanted an assortment of Americanized Cantonese dishes for five adults and three toddlers. One of the kids as a food allergy to shrimp so no shrimp tonight! The restaurant is clean, the servers wear uniforms and are friendly. We ordered more food than we needed and almost managed to finish it. There certainly wasn't enough to take anything home. Deep Fried Chicken Wings - 4 - Served hot out of the fryer. Didn't look like much but good flavor. Potstickers - 3 - Pretty much run of the mill. Not bad, not great. Mu Shu Vegetables - 4 - The filling was fresh and flavorful. The wrappers could have been warmer but they worked. Sweet & Sour Pork - 5 - Breaded Cubes of Pork deep fried served with a sweet & sour sauce, bell peppers, onions and carrots. Very yum. Catfish on Sizzling Platter - 5 - a nice variation from beef cubes or prawns on sizzling platter. Pork Egg Foo Young - 5 - I'm not sure that I've ever ordered Egg Foo Young as an adult. We always make fun of people who order it but this version was actually very good! It wasn't loaded with bean sprouts and the flavors were quite good. Tomato Beef Chow Mein - 3 - I really miss Chinese restaurants that have super hot burners under their woks. You need that heat so you can properly stir-fry foods without steaming them. When I was a kid, I remember the noodles, tomatoes, bell peppers and onions all had some char marks on them. No, they weren't burn't, just slightly charred, which changes the flavor slightly and adds texture. Oysters in Clay Pot - 4 - Lots of ginger and onions and I believe there was some daikon on the bottom. Very flavorful. Ma Po Tofu with Pork - 4 - Chinese Soul Food! All you need is a bowl of hot rice. Everyone was satisfied with our food. Even mom had few complaints and she's a professional!

    Don't be fooled like us!! Says "Grand Opening", but they're just re-opening after ripping out carpets or something else worse maybe like cleaning up after getting shut down? The moment we walked in, there seemed to be an awkward vibe. We walked in and got weird stares from everyone. Seems like only non-Asians eat here. We were the only Asians the entire time. We only came here because we live super close & thought they finally changed owners. When we first moved here we already tried their place & thought it was gross. Don't expect a smile from the waitresses, a mug face is what you'd get. (Maybe because we're Asians though). The one that serves us seems confused. The only recommendation she made, was a Fail. We were recommended walnuts prawns which is a popular dish in Chinese restaurants. How can something so simple be messed up? Stale walnuts and not so fresh prawns. Why would any decent restaurant serve stale walnuts? It's not like the place was cheap either. That dish was $14. Rice was $6 for 4 people. Usually Chinese restaurants that charge would be $1/person. At one point I was taking photos for yelp & she came out & ask if the food is good. We said the walnuts are stale and the prawns aren't fresh. She said "Oh".. and walked away. LOL. Why do you bother even asking if you don't plan to do anything about it when it's bad? If you can't do anything to fix the dish, at least discount us or something... or maybe from that moment she just realize or decided that we're not gonna be their customers ever again. Didn't even bother asking my parents if they want the food to be packed. We paid for it, we'd like to take something back even if we're not gonna eat it. It's just regular manners to ask. Most places just ask us themselves if we want anything packed, but not here. They cancelled one of our orders that she recommended which was a fish dish that never came. My dad asked for the bill, and that was that. They didn't even bother telling us that she cancelled the fish or ask us if maybe we still wanted it. Just billed us. So, I guess she didn't even have fish. Too bad this place has let us down, because we really do live so close and we always drive past this place when we go out to eat somewhere else. Love to eat close, but it's just THAT bad the vibe, the emptiness, the awkwardness, the strange service. Owners at this place, if you're reading my review... don't hold a grudge for my honesty, but think about what you can CHANGE to make it better, to get more customers, to gain more popularity. It's not about the cost, because people still go to expensive places, but you just have to be worth that price. I know it's tough owning a restaurant and all, just try to look at the successful places. To be fair, the egglant dish was decent but it's suppose to be "Spicy Eggplant". It's not spicy at all. We also requested less oil but it seems to be oilier than the Eggplant of other reviewers. The fish fried in lumps & the oyster pot dish is ok too. I went home to eat instant noodles. True story.

    It goes to show you, "Never judge a book by it's cover!" This place looks rather questionable from the outside, but once you get inside, you even say to yourself, should I even sit down... but once you actually taste their food, everything else that you had thought off, erased, gone, history!! I was here for a private party. While I was skeptical with each guest served on a buffet style, by the time I got back to my table and took my first bite of their homemade Pot Stickers, it was legit y'all..... it was "freakin" delicious! And take it from someone who have traveled to China many times especially, to the Southern Province of Guangzhou where each restaurants battle for the best pot stickers of their life!! I was also surprised to taste that their Seafood Fried Rice was really, really good!! It was so flavorful that I had to have seconds. I'm not even a fried rice guy either!! All in all, I love Pacific Restaurant's flavorful taste, and down to earth hole-in-the-wall ambiance. It reminded me of places I've eaten in Taisan, China, where regardless which restaurant I went to, everything was flavorful! Until then, be kind to one another and Cheers! ~ :p

    I've been here once before and it...was... horrendous. Fast forward 8 years? And many reopenings I gave it a second shot after 2, count 2 separate people tell me that it's actually good after the most recent reopening. We went for lunch for their $9.50 buffet. Sounds scary....being under $10 but it really was decent! As a Chinese American, I've never had an eggfooyoung? But my brother schooled me on what that was and I had my very first one at Pacific restaurant. Not bad. They had about 12-15 items, not a lot but well worth the $9.50 that we spent with the great service. Something as simple as giving us more napkins or refilling our tea without asking makes me feel valued and happy.

Upon entering, I noticed that it is a sister restaurant to the Lazhou Noodles but before we could change our minds, the hostess sat us (lol). I went with the main beef noodle soup, and we also tried the dry noodles with spicy beef. I was expecting the food to be very similar to their sister restaurant - BUT the food here was so much better I was SO surprised. The broth tasted better, the noodles were higher quality, and the beef was also much more tender and had less gristle. it made me wonder if it was a fluke or if this location was just that much better as this restaurant was also much more crowded versus the other locations. I can't wait to come back and bring friends, and though San Mateo is parking is not as friendly, the food experience definitely makes up for it!

    One of our favorite go-to noodle houses whenever we are in the San Mateo area. It's not a huge…read moreplace but overall very clean. Noodles are hand pulled and made directly in front of you through a glass window where you can view your noodles being made. You can select from a variety of noodle textures and sizes. The noodle dishes are separated between soup and dry noodle versions. For the soups, recommend the Lanzhou hand pulled noodles soup or sichuan braised beef stew noodle soup. For the dry noodle, our favorite is the chilli oil noodles with wide noodles. For appetizers, the spicy wonton is really good. Their spicy sauce has just the right amount of kick and is mildly sweet. While they also serve dumplings, I kind of feel there are dumplings are just average --- stick with the noodles!
