Bait and switch. They work VERY hard to sell their mediocre candidates to companies. Lots of communication, follow-ups, texts, and phone calls. All good. As an employer, once you sign the contract, the nightmare begins- at least in my case. My experience (and I could go on and one so message me privately for more details and I am happy to tell you), the hires were extremely underqualified, juvenile (immature, inexperienced, and entitled), and my experience working with them not only as a placement agency on the backend but working with the individuals we hired was nothing but troubling and anxiety provoking. Julie is a pro at sales. She is all about 'the close' and goes HARD selling whoever they have in their rolodex of candidates. Now that I have taken significant time reflecting on my experience, I realize that her sales was not only disingenuous but highly misrepresented candidates who were not qualified to work at my firm. One person I hired through PP was so bad she lasted less than 48 hours at my company. Her arrogance was unbelievable and was so entitled it was comical- something you can't make up. The second hire had a plethora of challenges in her life which trickled over to her job which was extremely difficult being her employer and made my life very stressful to say the least. In the end, the process of getting one's hopes of hiring, the long, drawn out interview process (especially during Covid times), the training, and then all the drama that ensued was a disappointment and a waste of time, energy, and financially as well. The worst aspect for me was after the long saga of one full-time hire had tremendous personal issues (and Covid did not help this so I am fully sympathetic to the challenges involved), the firm would not respond to my emails afterwards. No apologies, no partial refunds, nothing. This is why I feel it is a bait and switch operation. All sales and then they kick you to the curb when something doesn't go right with no reconciliation and zero accountability. My experience is that they work very hard to close a company on a 'good hire' and then once the company is left with a rats nest of challenging new hire situations (which one would think the agency would vet and screen for, for that is what you would think you pay them for), the agency could care less and literally will not respond to important emails asking to rectify the situation. This is not only unprofessional but unethical on all counts. Disappointing through and through! Run for the hills and do not hire Pacific Placement! read more

I went back in early summer and had a horrible experience with PP. It was much different when I worked for them two years ago. First, even though they have me on record having worked for them in the past, I still had to take another test (despite 10 years of AA and EA experience. I was OK with that). During the whole process, I was looked over and physically evaluated like a cow going to the slaughterhouse. They commented on my clothes. I recently lost a lot of weight and my slacks was one size too big until I was able to get them taken in. They said my clothes "swallowed" me. There were a few other candidate's where Jane and the other requiters whet on and on about how good and THIN they looked as if that's the criteria with getting a job through them. Jane would walk by (evil) eyeballing you like like you were there trying out to be a high fashion runway model. It was a humiliating experience and one I never experienced in all of my years of working with recruiters and temp agencies. Based on an actual 3 minute interview and their physical evaluation, I was told they would not be able to place me. Even when I worked for them in the past; despite my experience, they placed me in $11 and $12/hr receptionist positions. Even the clients called and told them I was well overqualified and bored out of my mind. I was basically their choice for the last-minute, low pay assignments. I wasn't planning on writing a review for Pacific Placement, but honestly I was really frustrated. Jane Groner kept sending me job descriptions where the salary range was $60-65k. I sent her an email the first time asking if she thinks that with my experience I could perhaps get $70k. She wrote back with a one worded response, "No." Then I politely emailed her again asking if she could just try and send me out on interviews where the pay is higher. She wrote back saying that I had to be realistic and that if I kept aiming too high, I wouldn't even get a job that pays $65k. From that point on, I decided I was going to get a job on my own or through other agencies... and good thing that happened because I ended up landing a job that pays well OVER $70k. I interviewed there last year with a wonderful, witty, vivacious woman who's name I cannot recall. She made some edits on my resume and we spoke about my aspirations and positions I was interested in. After we spent some time together she told me she wanted me to meet the other counselor and her boss, Jane. Jane was in another interview, so I waited for her to become available. When I think back, I wish she had not become available. My impression of Jane was that of an ice maiden - haughty, cold and condescending. She questioned every job I had and every career move I made, told me that I had made bad decisions by taking some of the positions, and basically told me that she couldn't help me, which was pretty different than what the other counselor had told me. I've worked with Katy, Jane, and Sharon so far during the last 4 months, and I must say that they are the most hardworking recruiters in the city. After I read the other of PPG, I must say you will not meet anyone more professional or sweet than Katy B. She is caring, involved, and will cater to all of your "hand-holding" needs. The same can be said of Sharon, I'm sure, though I've not worked with her extensively. On the other hand, if you want a very honest opinion about what you're doing wrong, see Jane. Her standards of excellence are very high, and her communications style is very direct. She has never had anything but kind and supportive words for me, and although I agree that there is a thorough scrutinizing process, please understand that recruiters are trying to "sell" you to their clients. They're trying to work you into a product they can sell, which will include asking you to enunciate clear and proof read your resume and cover letters. It is meant to be constructive, and the bottom line is Jane wants you to have the winning edge if you're going in as a candidate she's sending to her client. Well you must ask..why not the full 5 stars rating? As Jane will surely tell you, it's all in the details, and sometimes it's the subtle things that matter and make or break the deal. There is definitely room for improvement in the preparation process, but if you are qualified, there is no other recruiting firm that will be more dedicated towards sending you to meet with high profile companies and match you with the opportunities you could only hope to find on your own. read more

I applied for my position online which took me to Pacific Placement Group. They gave me an application to fill out, which included spelling and grammar tests. I also did some testing on computer skills. Then I met with Katy, Sharon, and Jane. They are really nice women that looked through my resume and gave me some suggestions on interviewing. To be honest, I had no idea what a job agency is before and I looked up Pacific Placement Group and was slightly troubled by the low rating they have. But I am really glad I went to meet them! They are easy going, friendly, and helpful. Some of the negative reviews on here are a bit extreme and I wouldn't completely rely on it. I was originally introduced to Jane by another recruiting agency (California People Search). She is direct, helpful, and is extremely knowledgeable. Recruiters are often misunderstood-- they work for their clients. They are looking to find a great fit between their clients and their network of candidates...whether you may be a good fit or not is actually up to the client's preferences! The recruiter's role is to filter and facilitate these meetings... at the end of the day, it is the client that decides who they want. Jane completely understands what her clients are looking for, and will let you know if you are a good fit or not right away. She will not waste your time or give false hopes. You may receive feedback on your resume, appearance, interviewing mannerisms, thank-you letters, and everything else in between. Any recruiter that takes the time to give any feedback (even if it may hurt) means that they are working in your best interest! Jane gave me personal feedback throughout the way, which allowed me to be the best candidate I could be. She is prompt and has an amazing sense of urgency. I appreciated that she was simultaneously sending out emails and correcting my resume while we were doing our first interview-- she makes things HAPPEN! I believe because of her straight-forward personality and her sense of urgency, she was able to help me complete a 4 week interview process (including our meeting together) with the client and I was offered an amazing position at a prestigious firm. The owner of this company (Jane Groner) is the most unhappy, unpleasant person I have met in this business. I thought recruiters were supposed to be upbeat and motivating. She was late for our meeting and didn't bother to apologize. She then critiqued my resume and said it was the worst thing she has seen. I told her that's funny because another agency just updated it for me. She proceeded to tell me that she doesn't know an agency that would do such an unprofessional resume. I walked out and told her I don't want to work for this agency. There are hundreds of thousands of agencies in this city and I wouldn't work with one that is that unprofessional. I quit my job without another job waiting for me. I thought I could find another one easily, since it is after all, me. Unfortunately I forgot we were living in ailing times, where our economy had been adversely screwed by corrupt businessmen and politicians, leaving millions of Americans drowning in debt and lost jobs. I was now competing with others with waaay more years of experience on their belt. Just great... I actually did get a job offer shortly after I left my job, but I figured if I had already quit without knowing what was on the other side of the door, I might as well LOOK for exactly what I wanted. She is, in a word, AWESOME. You're a great candidate if you have at least two years of professional experience and know MS Office like the back of your hand. I worked with Katy at Pacific Placement from early March through mid-May and she was FABULOUS. Not only did she spend hours with me helping me to edit my resume to highlight specific skills to correspond with her open positions, but she was kind, friendly and always, always, straightforward about the process of finding a position (including how long it might take). I should also note that I have been working with recruiters since I was 17-- literally-- as my first position ever was as an admin for OfficeTeam (not through OT, but actually for OT). I am familiar with the processes and the sales mentality of recruiters. I can say hands-down that Katy was the most fabulous recruiter I have worked with-- and in my last job search I was signed up with SIX different staffing agencies. I don't know about PP as a whole, but I do know that Katy's professionalism, ability to discern your character quickly and make a good match is unrivaled. Marvin is extremely helpful and personable. He was on my side the entire time, dedicated to finding me a not just any job, but a job where I am the right fit. He provided me with an extensive amount of useful tips and guidance to put me on the right path. What I really liked about him was that he was straight forward about the items I needed to improve upon. Do not take his bluntness the wrong way, but instead build upon it and he'll put you on the right path as well. Pacific Placement asks for you to take multiple tests to better understand where you stand in using Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint, as well as grammar and place you accordingly. I also saw Sharon Clark at Pacific Placement who handles the temping portion. She was full of energy and I found it very easy to speak opening with her. I met and spoke with Sharon on a Friday in February where she asked me a number of questions about myself, and that afternoon I received a call from the owner, Jane Groner, about a temping job that would start immediately that following Monday. After the first day Sharon followed up with me, and after two weeks of temping I received a call from Marvin letting me know that the company would like for me to be a permanent employee. If it was not for Pacific Placement, I would not be in the position where I am today, working for a great company, freshly moved to the Bay Area. I've had many great experiences with staffing agencies over the years but Pacific Placement is definitely at the top of the list for me. Simply put, this is the agency you want IF you are a talented professional looking for a great job. I'll be the first to admit that there have been times I went to "temp agencies" because I needed to start working ASAP and didn't care about the job as long as I got paid quickly. When I look at some of the not-so-great reviews for Pacific Placement I have to think that those applicants must think those kinds of agencies are the gold standard. Frankly, the skill level and attitude of the candidates produced by those agencies is what makes the Executive Assistant market so lucrative for the rest of us. I think Jane realizes that anyone too fragile to discuss their strengths and weaknesses with a recruiter will at best be competent, but never outstanding, when supporting a dynamic, high-powered executive. Jane has been instrumental in helping me make the jump from entry level to C-Level which of course includes double the salary I was making before I stepped through the Pacific Placement doors. As an adult, of course I don't make all of my decisions based on what she says but I certainly appreciate her industry insider perspective. I think Pacific Placement is "top drawer" and although I had worked with this Agency ten years prior, they still tested me, which I thought was GREAT! They were one of the few (out of 12!) that did any testing at all. I don't know how other Agencies can honestly determine a Candidate's true skill level without some amount of testing, but I appreciated Pacific Placement's scrutiny of my skills and fortunately, I did fairly well. My experience with other staffing companies has been nothing but casual and positive. On the other hand, my experience here was not at all positive. Before our meeting, I called to confirm with Julie (Marketing Director). My call was misrouted to Jane (the CEO). When speaking with her, she seem cold, annoyed, and clueless about my resume'. Eventually, I had my scheduled meeting with Julie who criticized, my resume' and insisted on re-writing it. I am currently changing careers. Prior to our meeting I hired a professional resume' writer, so I felt very confident about it. I thought this was odd. I was introduced to Lois. She is with a different company, but shares an office with Jane and Julie. My immediate impression of her was that she is very kind. Lois mentioned that I would be a perfect fit for Marqeta, which got my hopes up. Marqeta is looking for an Executive Assistant, I have seen their job description on Indeed. Lois made a good effort to set-up a meeting with them. I was pulled into Jane's office after meeting with Lois. Remember Jane, the cold, unkind CEO, I was on the phone with? Unbeknownst to me at the time, she is also looking for an Executive Assistant. She went over my resume' job by job. Asked each job was full or part time work. As I was leaving her office, she loudly stated that I was not good enough and she needed someone with more experience. EXCUSE ME! I have 17 years of work experience all within the realm of Executive Assistant. If I am not good enough, than I don't know who is. I left their office, feeling like Julia Roberts in the movie "Pretty Woman." The infamous scene where the Rodeo Drive sales woman asks her to leave. Yes, I was obviously in the wrong place. A day later I expressed how I felt leaving their office to Julie. Again I was criticized for being too casual in my vernacular and saying "yeah," a lot. Julie also emailed me my "new & improved" resume'. She took out my summary and skillset. All that she left was my work history. I realize now that like that infamous scene in "Pretty Woman." I was in the wrong place. I do not want to be apart of any organization that is not positive, unkind, and lacks the common sense. I need to be apart of a company where I can be my authentic self, which is casual. I have been a manager before. Yes, criticism is important, in order for anyone to improve. However, people are more motivated by being recognized for their efforts, accomplishments. When a person feels overly criticized, their efforts are diminished. I worked and put myself through school. I have a masters degree, and graduated with honors. As a job seeker, I strongly recommend, avoid these people at all costs. read more

I've been working with Pacific Placement Group since 2011. My initial experience working with Jane and her team was exemplary. PPG is definitely different from your average staffing agency. Jane and her team take their time to find their candidates the best opportunities that are best suited for their background and past experience. They also take the time to prep you for your interview, both over the phone and/or in-person. One thing that make PPG stand out from the rest of the staffing agencies is that Jane and her team make it a point to keep in touch with the people that they've worked with after placing them on a job. I recently started my job search after taking a year off to care for my son who we lost to cancer, and Jane didn't hesitate to help me in my search. She understood, and was very sympathetic of my situation and knew exactly what I was looking for in a position and company. Much like the first time I worked with Jane and team, I never have to "chase" them for any updates as I am constantly receiving emails and calls from them regarding the status of my application and interviews... I had really high hopes after seeing all these great reviews for Julie. I was called in for an "executive assistant" position that I applied for and was really excited for this opportunity. I got there 15 mins early anxiously waiting to see her. My first impression of her was super rude. She didn't introduce herself and went straight into my resume. She criticized my resume, made all these nasty comments about my professional experience and said that I will not get any job, not even a min. Wage job the way my resume looked. Excuse me? I was referred to Pacific Placement Group by a friend while I was in the heart of my post-grad career search. I was living in Denver, CO at the time and looking to relocate to San Francisco. After many months of networking, applying, interviewing, and traveling back and forth from CO to CA, all ending in dead ends, I was referred to Pacific Placement and reached out to Julie Bianchi. I received a prompt response from her and was able to set up a meeting with her in time for my next trip to California the following week. I immediately connected with her warm personality and her determination to find me the right fit. I gave this place one star because I couldn't give them anything less. Let me tell you about my experience with this joke of a staffing agency. I applied to a job on craigslist and a few days later I received a call from Marvin telling me that the CEO forwarded him a copy of my resume and that he would like for me to come in for an interview that day. I told him that I had another appointment that day and was free the next day. He told me that it was urgent that I come in because they wanted to move fast on this job and that they wanted to take it to the next step tomorrow. So, I dropped everything to be able to go in and interview that day. I was sent the testing via email, which I completed and scored high on all the tests. In preparing for the interview, I went to check the jobs I had applied to and could not find the job anymore on Craigslist. I emailed Marvin to send me the job posting and he did, but it wasn't the one I applied to at all. Total bait and switch game. I thought it was really strange, but I went ahead and went into the interview anyway. Once I got there, I took the spelling and grammar test and scored really high on them. I also had to wait forever to meet with Marvin even though I was early for the interview. I was finally able to meet with him and we didn't really talk about the job I had applied to. It was more of a critiquing session on my resume. I was totally floored because I thought I was going in to interview about a job that I had applied to and not a coaching and critiquing session. It was a total waste of my time and money, especially when he told me on the phone that they wanted to go to the next step on the job and how urgent it was for me to get in there that day. I sat and listened to him and he even changed my resume for me right then and there and said he was going to submit me to the company first thing in the morning. I have yet to hear back from Marvin, even after sending a follow-up email. This was 2-3 weeks ago and still not a word. I find this behavior totally unprofessional and a total time waster and something I would find at a used car lot. My advice is to not utilize this agency whatsoever. Besides, I don't know any company that uses them and have never ever heard of the place and I have experience working with large staffing agencies. read more

talk about disorganized. the original person I worked with went on "sabbatical" They called me in for MULTIPLE "first" interviews. Didn't listen to what I said, and asked the same question over and over again. Told me I misspelled "banc" of america. Anyone who's worked in the investment field knows the investment side of BofA is spelled with a "C" Quite frankly I found the last person I interviewed with there so rude, and unprofessional, I threw her card out as I walked out the door. read more

She said my resume doesn't fit the job and gave me instructions to change some things. She said" Sorry I wasted your time, at least i gave you some corrections for your resume!" I have pretty much had the same experience as a lot of the people that have replied here and I do not recommend working with this company. I too met Sasha and Jane and THEY ARE the rudest people working in recruiting. I showed up on time and looking professional. Jane, was late... strolled in with her dog, walked right past me and didn't acknowledge that I was sitting in her waiting room for her! They were beyond offensive , picked apart my resume and insulted me "professionally" and were in no way helpful or supportive in the prospects of finding me a position. Really! I was under the impression that a temporary agency is supposed to help you? If there are weaknesses, we together are supposed to find a way to fix them. in order to secure employment. Not to belittle and berate your candidates. Another thing if she thought my resume was so bad... Why did she have me drive all the way from San Jose (more then 1hrs drive) to meet? Didn't she read it before my interview? I guess not! That just showed me how prepared and organized she was. After an hour of listening to their rubbish I had just stopped caring about them "helping" me, I though about excusing myself to the restroom and just walking out, but decided just placate them by pretending to listen and firmly decided that any other agency would be better then working with them...I even had half a thought to ask for my application back as I didn't even want my details in their system. I have worked with a lot of agencies in the past and this was by far the worst agency I have EVER come across. Do yourself a favor choose ANY other job agency in the San Francisco Bay Area. Long story short: I came here back in April 2013 and met with Julie Bianchi. She said to "keep in touch" and I tried to follow up with her after I had completed the skills test. She totally disregarded my emails until recently. I received an email from her to "check up". PLEASE. Jane Groner, the CEO, is the most insecure old lady I have ever come across with. Being over-qualified in all the jobs she was trying to offer me, she interrogated my credentials and achievements with full of insecurities. She could not believe that such credentials are possible. Thinking that she is better than everybody, it killed her when she came across an individual who is an extraordinary. I came in to work with her not to compete or deal with her personal issues. She has so much personal and mental insecurity. To all the talented and exceptionally bright individuals out there, I am warning you. Save your time. Don't even bother to talk to anyone in this agency as at the end, you will have to deal with the CEO who cannot work with intelligent people. read more

This agency didn't place in my industry and I was over-qualified for the office and administrative jobs they were offering, but if these are the types of position that you are looking for, their bill rates seemed fair, they have a variety of contracts to choose from, and their recruiters were friendly and responsive. I got to go on a few fun temp gigs and this can be a nice agency if you just want to dabble here and there and short term assignments. read more
