The restaurant is located on the bottom floor of the Langham Hotel and, when we arrived for dinner on a Monday night, was nearly empty. Perhaps unsurprisingly, service was excellent and fast, and the restaurant is tastefully decorated and spotlessly clean. Unlike what the name of the restaurant implies, the menu is not focused solely on New York City foods. Rather it is broadly American, with items from New York cuisine, Tex Mex cuisine, southern American cuisine, and others. I had a cheeseburger and fries and also tried the eggs Benedict. The burger was exceptionally well cooked, juicy and tender, but perhaps a bit underseasoned. The fries were similarly underseasoned but well cooked, just like the burger. The eggs were pretty good but nothing spectacular. Prices are very high and perhaps a little too high considering quality and portion size. Overall a good experience at Main St. Deli but one that I wouldn't recommend going too far out of your way to try.

This meaning a "method of cooking in which food is sealed in airtight plastic bags then placed in a water bath or in a temperature-controlled steam environment for longer than normal cooking times" This place sells slow-cooked beef that goes under an 8 or 48-hour process, or slow-cooked chicken that goes under a 2-hour process as a sandwich. Mm... soft meat. They also sell salads, craft beers (yesssss), special drinks, and desserts (which they partnered with a local source) I was sad that they didn't have any slow-cooked ribs the day I went, but that gives me a reason to come back! And they have a happy hour from 6-9pm: if you order any craft beer, you get 50% off on their snack menu. Whaaat. More reason for me to come back! They have only 4 stools to sit right at their kiosk, but do not fret, there are plenty of chairs around the area, but no table. They also provide plastic gloves for you to eat with. Neat. Their tofu fa (豆腐花) is also pretty good - silky with a strong tofu flavor. Other things I've tried here include their eggettes (雞蛋仔), fish balls (魚蛋), and siu mai (燒賣), which are all pretty decent. If you're a bit hungrier, you can get some noodles or other fried goods; they even have milk tea boba. Prices are fair considering what's on offer. Do note that they only have a Chinese menu.

The deli scene in Hong Kong is next to zero, but Morty's is here to fill that void. This Wan Chai location is not really near the MTR. They're sandwiched in between Admiralty and Wan Chai but is most easily accessible from Hennessy Rd and up a couple of blocks onto Wing Fung St. The restaurant looks like a small diner on the beginning of an street incline. Parking is a near impossibility. It's a narrow, tight squeeze but they've still made room for all sorts of group action, including an outdoor table in their courtyard. Ventilation is quite good and there are TVs for watching sports on the inside. It's generally well lit and clean, which is sometimes all we can ask for. The food is not going to win awards from smoked meat purists, but it'll do the job. They offer a classic pastrami as well as a reuben and some interesting smoked meat burgers and a short rib sandwich that is supposedly cooked for 72 hours via sous vide. They also have a rare item in poutine (#1), which is true to form with cheese curds, a little pastrami, and topped off with homemade gravy. They also have hot dogs, specialty sandwiches (#3), salads, and they even a have plant based options. The latter includes a cubano, burgers, and a mushroom version of their popular reuben. I also appreciate that they care about their bread so much that they actually have ciabatta, baguette, rye, or even a bagel. I think I'm most impressed with their drink selection, which includes cocktails, wine, beer, and soda options. The bottomless iced lemon tee makes me chuckle, but I'm likely to shoot for their rootbeer float ($75HKD), which is totally alcoholic. Overall, I'm not mad at the food. It's smaller than I expected (#2). I find that $160-170HKD is a little pricey for their signature sandwiches, but I get that they're also gauging prices the way they are in North America. Located conveniently across the street from the Wanchai MTR, Exit A Lockhard Road, there is a 7-11 right across from it. They have different servings during the three periods of the day. And since it's a street stall with street snacks/food; it is really very cheap and cheery! -- The morning has your typical congee, street food (curry fish balls and other fried stuff) and fried vermicelli (2 variations: 1 is soy sauce based vegetarian, the other has ham). -- During mid-day, they will offer a lunch option with rice or noodles with an assortment of stir fry toppings. -- Evening/night snack is the morning stuff revamped... and you can also get these freshly made delish waffles with peanut butter, condensed milk and sugar topping. Simply the best here, others in Causeway Bay, Mongkok and TTS has not done a good job like Ada. When Ada was closed for 5 days during the Chinese New Year, I was really sad, so this place does really make you look forward to street snacks! That's HK street food style in general - don't waste my time and when you know I am there for you, and don't take it personal.

It's conveniently located covering a full corner, just across the MTR Exit C, and the end of the 'red part' of Lockhart Road. They close at around 11pm so it's the place to grab something quick before or after a drink in Wan Chai. First time I saw the place I was walking towards Causeway Bay and it reminded me of the ones I had seen on the Kowloon side. I tried to think of similar places around this district, or the ones close by, and couldn't come up with any but the one on the corner close to Times Square. Ada is in fact one of those last street food stalls that remains in this area despite it being turned into big chains propriety for the most part. That's why it's unique. The food, as a proper street food 'restaurant' is nothing special but you know what you get. Actually, you see everything on display and even being cooked in front of your eyes. Appearance wise, I find it charming. Okay, it's a little run down, looks dirty and old but charming nevertheless. It's definitely not the place to have a snack every day and I wouldn't recommend it for its food, but I hope it will stay around for a long time and keep that part of Hong Kong spirit a little more alive.

That spot used to be occupied by a Pacific Coffee, and I think the Cafe O is a great replacement - there's a fridge full of on-the-go deli food, which is really useful to anyone who doesn't have a lot of time to spare and just wants a quick bite. They've got focaccias, sandwiches, salads, baguettes and wraps - more of the first two, though. It was only when I took a closer look at the fridge that I realized they were doing a buy one get one free on most of their stuff! For a discount as big as this, I would think that they would place a huge sign to advertise it - but nope, it was all rather subtle. Everything looked really, well, substantial - the focaccias looked pretty huge! It was two for the price of one, so I couldn't resist. I ended up getting two focaccias - an avocado and turkey and a mushroom vegetarian one - to bring home as brunches for the next day. $58 for two meant less than $30 for one, which was a pretty good deal given how big they were! I actually wanted to get salad wraps but there was only one left. My mother and I had the focaccias the next day and we both agreed that even though we'd left them overnight, they were fresh still, and definitely really filling! Besides deli food, they also have other stuff like yogurt cups, healthy chips and of course, drinks. Cafe O is, in my opinion, a great addition to the station. If its buy one get one free promotion continues, it won't be seeing the last of me!

I spotted this new Cafe O at Admiralty station yesterday night and I'm so happy about it...! I've…read moregot a few reasons for that: first, they sell black 'normal' coffee; second, they open at 7.00am, earlier than most other coffee places so if I need an early fix, I know where to go; third, it's usually quieter than most other stores around; fourth, I've just found out they also have amazing smoothies! I usually don't care for the food at these small cafés, but it looked really good - mainly sandwiches and a few drinks to go. As I had a late one last night, I immediately thought about grabbing an Americano at Cafe O this morning. At 9.25am I was the only customer - regular size black coffee is 30HKD. I was looking around at their menu thinking how good they sounded when a minute later, there I had my coffee. I must admit, however, as I sip through my coffee, that it isn't very special. Pacific Coffee's is much better but then again that's pretty much all they do. The good news is they serve 'dark chocolate' too. You don't usually see the hot chocolate named 'dark' so this could be an interesting one to test. Cafe O also serves food and they had an interesting cookies counter. If I only ate sugar! I haven't tried the food and I don't think I will because I have better options for that around my office, however it's good to have it there, just in case.
