Oceanview

Pacific City is a decent open-air mall that's right across from the Huntington Beach State Park/Pacific Ocean. History tidbit: Its name comes from what HB was originally called, until a name change in 1903. PC sorta reminds me of a cross between Anaheim's GardenWalk, and Fashion Island. The open-air design is great, paired with the near-emptiness of GardenWalk. This place was pretty empty on the weekday that I spent a few hours here. The busier end of the mall was where the Philz Coffee, and Equinox was. There is seating throughout the mall - both on the first and second levels. Lots of nooks and crannies where you can bring your food to eat and have an oceanview. The other end of the mall was where the food hall, Lot 579 was. It was pretty empty. There were a few shops, a salon, and a bar - but it was mostly empty. There is a nifty, retro-style unisex restroom here that was pretty neat - well, the sink/handwashing area was unisex, while the restrooms were Men/Women. Other neat stops here is a children's play area, as well as The Reading Reef - a neat little covered spot connected to a lending library featuring an assortment of children's books - that your kids can take a minute to browse through. There's also a flower/rose vending machine here - first time I've seen any of these. I actually watched the vendor reload the machine while I was sipping Philz Coffee nearby. It probably took me a little over an hour to check out the two levels of the mall, stopping at various points to browse/shop/eat. It was hard not to notice how empty the place was. Overall, a clean and well-maintained property, offering gorgeous views of the Pacific Ocean. Value tip: Any of the food places can validate your parking garage ticket for 2 hours - otherwise, expect to pay $8/hr. for parking. Parking is costly, but it's reasonable considering how close you are to the beach. I imagine on busier days, people might opt to park here and walk over, then park at the beach - especially if that lot is full. If you still cannot swallow the parking cost here, park at the Main St. parking structure and walk the few blocks over here.

Pacific City's 10th Anniversary

Pacific City will always have a special place in our hearts. It's a beautiful mall along PCH overlooking the pier. Sadly, COVID took a toll on this mall. What was once a bustling mall with so much life is now a ghost town during weekdays. Weekends are a little bit better. However, this is still one of our favorite spots to walk our dogs and enjoy the view of the pier. We recently attended Pacific City's 10th birthday celebration event. It was $20 to attend with free parking, live music, and unlimited food samples from the onsite restaurants and eateries. They even had birthday cake and sugar cookies to celebrate! The event was SO much fun. Hoping it'll make a return in 2026!

If you are looking for a nice evening out or fun day trip stop, Pacific City. With several great restaurants and shops to amazing views of the beautiful HB beach and pier, you can't go wrong

The amazing kids play zone!

It's times like this that I wish we lived in Huntington Beach! This new shopping area is absolutely gorgeous. I love how there is plenty of easy self parking and validation for a free 2 hours if you visit one of the shops or restaurants. I didn't have a chance to do any dining but there were so many options that all sounded amazing. Some of the restaurants overlook the ocean so I'll definitely have to check those out! The only shop I was able to visit was Morning Lavender for their Tea 4 Tots event (I highly recommend, see my ML review) but it was worth the trip just to walk around and window shop! Hands down, the winning moment for this location was the kids zone! I've never seen anything like it! At best, I've seen other locations with a little play area but it's never anything special. This kids zone takes it to a whole new level with giant building blocks for the kids! You can build a track and then watch the foam ball roll down the track you built! My daughter would have spent all day there lol. I would love to visit this location again soon!

This place is so beautiful! I don't think I have been here before! What a beautiful place to go have some lunch or shop around! Can't wait to come back here again to check out more of the shops. The parking was free today cause the parking meter was broken woo hoo lol. What a perfect place to be today. Have a beautiful day :) Aloha

Great outdoor mall overlooking the HB Beach with tons of shops, restaurants, and a food hall at the east end. They have concerts at times up on the 2nd floor. Check out the website for more info. Parking does cost, but you can get a validation from one of the restaurants.

Father's Day Event Lacking an Event Time
David D.

The restaurants are pretty damn good but the mall management seems to keep sabotaging the venue with poorly planned activities and lacking tenant business coordination. Many of their top restaurants have gone out of business. Luckily, the place is beautiful and you can't beat the location, so the whole space survives. This would be a top Orange County destination with a better management team. Case-in-point - Pacific City hosts a Father's Day event with fire trucks, police, raffles, beer garden, and there is no time posted for the event. We show up with kids assuming things will be going on maybe around noon and nothing is happening. Asking around, even the staff, security guards, and valets don't know when the event will start. This mismanagement is a recurring theme at Pacific City.

Review #962 2026-028…read more With the upcoming 3-day weekend, I needed something to keep my 10 YO occupied besides the screen & found the Bella Terra Kids Club: Valentine's Day Sweet Stroll on Eventbrite. It's a fun 90-min. walk through the open air mall with activities such as arts & craft, storytime, etc. Upon arrival, I was worried about finding The Green to check-in with less than 10-mins. before the event kick-off, but we saw this long time of parents with children & just followed along. We shuffled along for about 20-mins. until we were scanned in, picked up a cute pink Bella Terra tote & a map of all the participating businesses. There were 36, of which we were able to collect sweet treats from 30. It was barely 15-mins. in & Dog Haus was already out. Maybe because they were near the epicenter? But others like its neighbor, Pinot's Palette, Princess Bride Diamonds, Philz Coffee, still had goodies in their bowls. The furthest trek was out to Fogo de Chão, Luna Grill, Snooze, an A.M. Eatery. M got hungry mid-stroll & I was fortunate enough to find a TGTG surprise bag at Nekter Juice Bar (refer to Review #963) for a quick pit stop. Most of the children participants look to be toddlers or in daycare, I didn't see too many older kids like mine. If we didn't have that rest break, I think we could have finished the stroll by 12:30 PM; he was there for the goodies, not the activities. We went over by 30-mins. & was still lucky to receive a sweet treat from the remaining participants, & received a l'il extra from some since the event was over. Whoohoo! M missed out from Buffalo Wild Wings, Dog Haus (ran out after 15-mins.), Flecha, Golf Bar (doesn't seem like they were open), Kabuki, Tutu School. When M walked out of Tutu School, Nightingale (refer to Review #961), American & Thai fusion cafe, wasn't on the Sweets Stroll map, but we were invited in for their complimentary sweets... a beautiful spread of cookies, mini muffins & donuts, Ferocher chocolates. It's my kinda eats; with such hospitality, I definitely plan to come back with the fam for brunch/lunch! Since I parked near Barnes & Nobles (refer to Review #964), we closed out the afternoon with a couple of bargain books (got the 2nd one at 50% off) at the B&N, Jr. section. Most mall kids club hold events during the week & the Sweets Stroll was on a Monday, & our school district happens to be off. I think I've taken my kids once or twice to these events when they were toddlers, but they were modest in comparison to Sweets Stroll's scale/grandness: business participants, goodies, & activities. Since I'm not a regular & I don't have much to compare with, I can totally be wrong about these kids club events. My son came home with a bagful of treats, & I discovered a few places that I'm looking forward to dine at. The Huntington Center originally had 4 2-story anchor stores: Barker Brothers (furniture store), JCPenney (department store with auto service center), Montgomery Ward (department store with auto service center), & The Broadway (converted to Macy's); I've been here a few times when I was studying at CSULB. Since 2006, Bella Terra opened as a lifestyle center that's anchored by Barnes & Noble, Cinemark Theaters, Costco, Kohl's, & Whole Foods. The mall's architecture is Tuscan-/Mediterranean-inspired with beautiful archways & structures, & fountains in the village-like complex. It's been a couple of decades since I've been here so I'm looking at them with fresh eyes. Thank you so much Bella Terra for entertaining my kid! I'm definitely looking forward to returning in the near future... particularly to dine here!

The mall does tend towards high end stores with a small smattering of standard stores but in general, there are a wide variety of stores. Plenty of dining options from high end or quick casual. You can even do your grocery shopping here as there is a Whole Foods market. They occasionally have special events. It's had it's share of anchors leaving (think Circuit City and Forever 21), but the owner (Irvine Company) continues to pour money into it, to keep it fresh and relevant. As an example, when Forever 21 declared bankruptcy and closed its store in 2019, the building was demolished in 2022 to make way for a new Restoration Hardware gallery store...which we found to be quite nice. Parking is plentiful, (mostly) covered, and free, with a pedestrian bridge on the 3rd floor taking one to the main part of the mall. And it seems to be one of the most dog friendly malls in the area, which is saying a lot. One will see a lot of signs for something called 'The Lot', which is a high end, ultra-luxury, cinema/cafe/restaurant, geared towards the clientele that the area feeds.
