I love downtown Brea! I just love the area in general. Downtown is pretty nice. There's lots to do in this area. I also appreciate the free parking in the parking structure. Sweet! No one likes to pay for parking lol I enjoy the variety offered at downtown Brea. You are bound to find something to please the crowd. There are cheap spots and more expensive places too. Whoa how come I didn't write a review for Downtown Brea when we have lived here for so long? LOL I have no idea, but I love downtown Brea. it has everything in one little spot for families and friends or date nights. They have food, movie theatre, desert, coffee and a painting place color me mine, clothing stores and more. We have been coming here for so long and they always do fun little events and close down the street for the events which is fun. For the Holiday's they always decorate it so beautifully and festive with places you can take pictures with your family and kids. Our friend called us up last minute tonight and we got ready fast to go meet them, which is why I forgot to check in lol. Downtown Brea was having this Brea Bonaza Day Country Festival we forgot about. Since it's really close by we decided why not and we didn't decide on dinner yet either. Saw our friend's the festival was sadly almost over by the time we got there, but they had vendors and places you can buy merchandise, if you want to drink they make you purchase a wrist band and then you go through a special line to get a drink which is cool, they had seats so you can watch the band play. It was still pretty busy even though we missed the whole event lol we had fun the kids had a good time and we got to take pictures of them or I did at least lol. Momma has to do that you know. But we had a fun time then we decided to go look for some food. If you have never been to downtown brea I would recommend checking it out, I saw a lot of my Yelp friends have come here already even not living in the area. I have also met some amazing Yelp friends in downtown brea for coffee at Enchanted Coffee and they liked it too. The events they have are fun they also do the events during summertime too, they do car shows and things which is cool! We always go to that of course music and cars? Heck yeah lol. But always good times and good vibes and smiles and lots of family and friends. We always run into people we know here too which is cool :) they also have a police station so they keep this area nice and safe! You can park in the structures or if you can find some on the streets before you go in the structure or you can also park in the parking lot where Ralph's is and walk through really close by just have to find parking lol. It's a busy area so sometimes parking can be difficult but structure you can find parking usually they also have parking on the street as well. This is the best downtown in Orange County. They have done a lot of remodeling to this place to make it look modern. Some of the best restaurants and shops are in this area. I've only been to Brea Downtown a couple of times and I absolutely love it! I loved the holiday décor that they display it's very nice and vibrant. This area just has a nice relaxing vibe to it. It's the perfect place to hang out with friends, have a solo day or even a cute date night. There are a variety of shops and LOTS of yummy restaurants. One of my main reasons for coming here was for Bath & Body Works since this store is one of the better locations. Brea Downtown has some amazing restaurants that I love such as Bruxie, Elbows Mac n' Cheese and Roll Em Up Taquitos just to name a few. There's definitely plenty of variety when it comes to food and shopping. There's also ample parking whether it be street parking or the parking structure. This is a lovely upscale area to visit. First of all, there are 3 huge parking structures and they are free. There are restaurants in different price ranges. I ate at Taps Fish House. Brea Improv is there. Also movies on multiple screens. Lots of restaurants, boutiques , and shops. One corner has a Starbucks, and places to eat, and shop for groceries or home goods. I am unable to get to the Starbucks page so I am reviewing it here. After lunch and walking around, this is where we ended up. My friend had plain coffee and I had my winter drink- vanilla latte. I needed something to warm me up, and this drink is perfect. It was very hot and tasted delicious. The staff are extremely helpful and friendly. read more

Agreeing with fellow Yelp Elite Robert P's (Riverside, CA) review, I'm rating Brea Downtown 5-stars because there are just so many things you can do here! From hanging out with coworkers, friends and just running take outs and other errands, Brea Downtown makes everything so convenient. It's very easily accessible since there's a huge parking structure right around Edwards' Movie Theater; then there's the Brea Mall (next to Dowbtown Brea) too (I used to shop here before switching entirely off to Outlet shopping). Along with Edwards' Movie Theater, there exists Brea Improv, Ruby's Diner, and a ton of other restaurants. There's even a two-hour free parking section in between the two movie theaters. I can't recall the name of the other privately owned theater, but I think it closed down bow. There used to be Tower Records, but unfortunately, they went outta biz years ago, not sure when anymore but was way before the Pandemic. I will need to visit Brea Downtown again soon because they have been fully decorated for Holidays/2022 as shown from many pics I took below for this review. I was in this town this past weekend or yesterday was due to visiting the 'City of Yorba Linda,' which is the next city down. read more

Lucky me, I got a 5-year contract at a company only walking distance from Brea Downtown. Cozy with a small town feel, I think the city planners did it right here. You Breatonians (not sure what Brea citizens call themselves, other than "lucky") like to say "oh we live in a small town called Brea." Yeah right, surrounded by a few million people and almost as many freeways. But at least your downtown has that vibe. It's not a midwestern vibe...I know I am from there. It's more Orange County than Marietta Ohio. But still I feel decompressed and slowed down when walking the streets here. So a little like back home I guess. Just more options and more $$$. read more

A fun little area to visit. It's a pretty small strip with a few restaurants and boutique shops, but still worth a visit. The Brea Improv is here, and some other popular restaurants like the Old Brea Chophouse, Cha Cha's, Bruxie, Olive Pit, TAPS Fishouse, Buffalo Wild Wings, Yard House, Gyu-Kaku are all here. Parking here is incredibly easy. The parking structures are all free and all prime locations that takes you straight into Downtown. read more

Brea downtown is a nice little area to eat, take a light stroll, and do a fun activity. The holiday decor right now is lovely with a lot of great spot/displays which are perfect family, friends, or couples holiday photos. And selfies of course. My favorite restaurant there is Bruno's Italian Kitchen. Then next-door (if I'm not mistaken, could be two doors down) is a little dessert bakery where I've recently tried their red velvet cupcake which was tasty! Brea downtown is a date night or hangout destination for us, maybe a little shopping too sometime. The pretty kitty is a solid Brazilian wax salon, love The Improve comedy club, Bath & Body works for body care. Two Edwards theaters and a couple little fashion stores. A Color Me Mine painting studio for kids and Starbucks to get mid day pick-me-up coffee drinks. There are a few restaurants that are extremely popular along the strip. We love Cha cha's Latin kitchen and Bruno's Italian kitchen which are from the same owners. TAPS fish house, Yard house, Gyu-Kaku Japanese BBQ and Izakaya on birch are great restaurants too. For bar times we love Macallan's public house, it's a great British pub with massive selections of whiskey, food is so good as well. Other restaurants like Buffalo Wild Wings, Bruxie fried chicken & waffle, Crepes de Paris are good choices too. Basically downtown Brea has a little bit of everything for everybody. It's a fantastic place for dining, shopping, date nights, friends and family hangout and all! Ps. I had never been to this area before. My husband had to go to a conference at the Brea Improv and wanted company on the drive down so he could take advantage of the carpool lane. ( funny I did all the driving). My son and I needed to blow about two and a half hours. Downtown Brea was just across the street. What a quaint area. We caught a movie at Edwards cinema. Super clean and not busy at all on a Thursday afternoon. There is quite a few shops, I saw Bath and Body, the loft, and they also had a crepe place outside of the movie theater. I definitely want to come back when it's not a winter storm and walk around. read more

I've lived in a city about 40+ minutes away (depending on the traffic) for 20+ years and I finally went here for the first time this week during the late morning on a weekday after a visit to the Brea Mall. It's so-so. There are a few different restaurants I've never heard of. It's really a very small section of the street that extends a bit on the cross street. The most interesting thing I saw was signage that said, "(Something) Bookstore" on the same large building that also said "Tower Records" and I was eager to check that out only to see that it's been closed for who knows how long. That was disappointing because it was probably the most interesting place to go in this downtown area. I assume this place is hopping on Friday and Saturday nights, but I don't care to ever come here at night. I have no reason to really return, but I might one day to try out another restaurant. However, if I never do, I'm not going to cry about it. read more

Downtown Brea is one of those 'perfect date spots.' There are many options for a casual bite, just drinks, movies, formal dinner and plenty dessert options afterwards. A few of my favorite places are: - Melting Pot - Bruxies - Merely Sweets - Color Me Mine - Yardhouse - Farrels - Edwards theater The nice thing is that you can walk around the downtown area afterwards and hold hands and talk, all that cute stuff. I especially like it during Christmas time. They have a huge tree and reindeer plants on the chairs. It just puts you in a jolly mood. If you're in the area on Tuesdays, they have a really nice Farmer's Market from 4-8pm. I frequent this area often because it's near the range where I have my membership. And also cause if I take someone shooting they probably think I'm crazy so I need somewhere with nice ambiance to balance out the day... If we're hungry, Bruxie first and then the Brea Shooting Range. But if not, the shooting range first and then grab a bite/drink and walk around in the area. During May they have a Taste or Brea food festival that offers near by restaurants to serve up delicious samples to foodies. The best about Brea Downtown is having 2 Edwards Cinemas (East/West) on the same block that offer up different movies at each location. The theater is well maintained and offers a good selection on nontraditional movie theater food: street tacos, flat bread pizza, etc. During the Holidays the entrance of down town is decorated with the holiday décor. BIG things come in small packages and this rings true for Downtown Brea! What it lacks in size it certainly makes up for in quality of experience. I absolutely love spending time here and enjoy everything this area has to offer. Highlights: -Cleanliness. Got to start off with that. This is not your typical downtown area with sketchiness, drunkenness, and the smell of urine on the streets. Downtown Brea is a clean and safe area to spend quality time. -2 free parking structures. The bigger lot is on the intersection of Ash St. and Brea Blvd. The smaller lot is between Berry St. and Mercury Ln. (you take a bridge over). There is also free timed parking along Orange Ave. -2 Edwards movie theaters along Birch St. From my observation, it looks like the reason for a duplicate theater is they can't fit all their showings in one theater. So you'll see that half the movies show in one theater, and half show in the other theater. -Fresh off the grill dining at Gyu Kaku Japanese BBQ. This restaurant is everywhere now but it's always delicious. It can be pricey but the cuts of meat are top notch. Highly recommended. - Beer. Lots of options here. But the best option in my opinion is TAPS Fish House. They are a restaurant but dish out some fine quality craft beer. Brea is their flagship location so most of their beers are brewed in-house here. -Beer/bar hopping? Well then in addition to TAPS, you can add The Yard House and Macallan's Irish Pub to your list. Stay safe. -Save room for dessert and get delicious ice cream sundaes at Farrell's ice cream. -Cheap tacos. Want to dine in downtown without spending a fortune? De Anda Tacos is your place. Good quality tacos for $1.70 a pop. Meat quesadillas for $3.50. Burritos for $7.00. -Be artistic and tipsy at Pinot's Palette. You take an artsy class for a few hours where an instructor guides you to painting a beautiful picture on a canvas (that you keep) and you get to sip on wine/beer the whole time. Never done it but I bought my parents a Groupon for this kind of thing and they loved it. Apparently, it's the newest craze and great for dates. Have you seen the recent GEICO commercial on TV, which has former NBA star Dikembe Mutombo running around blocking peoples "shots" in a real life setting? In one part, he wiggles his finger and says - "No no no! Not in my house! Ha Ha Ha Not today!" It's actually kinda funny. But, that's how I feel about Brea Downtown. No matter how bad people talk about this shopping center, I'll always think highly about this place. No matter how much they try to bring this place down, I'm going to be a fan. Even with so many changes over the years, I feel comfortable here, like it's a part of my home. I remember some great times here in the past - with businesses that have come and go, happy hour with buddies, birthdays celebrated with friends, and all the great lunch dates with fellow co-workers. Birch Street is a fun place to stroll around and shop or eat... there are also 5 million movie theaters (sooooooo not exaggerating either, literally 5 million!) Whether you are waiting to go see a movie, or catching a comedian across the street at the Improv or even just walking off a nice dinner, it's a great place to just hang for a bit. Mostly eateries scattered along quaint Birch Street; Farrell's Ice Cream, Cha Cha's Mexican (jalapeno margaritas=yum... pricey here though), Bruxie's (waffle sammiches and such), Elbow's Mac n Cheese, Flame Broiler, Fresca's, a pizza place, a pub, a French place (creperie), Bruno's Taqueria and Octopus sushi (which is excellent, by the way). There's also a bakery called Merely Sweets... eh, in my opinion but definitely some great looking treats! Birch Street also features some high end shopping nooks; I've never actually shopped in them because there's nothing that really is my taste, plus I'm not a browsing type of shopper (I get in and get the heck out). Obviously a Starbucks is along the course for those of you that partake. And there's a Color Me Mine pottery painting place. Outside of Birch Street you'll find more restaurants; Taps, Buffalo Wild Wings, Yard House (great martinis here). There are a few more shops too such as Old Navy. You are really close to Brea Mall and its shops across the street... and again many more places to stuff your face. The best part of Birch Street is going at Christmas, it snows!!! Yep, there's "real" snow that falls under the twinkling lights along the pathway. It's also a great spot to take family photos next to the large ball ornaments plopped here and there. There's usually a sleigh and big decorated tree too. Birch Street also homes a fantastic jazz festival and many other music events as well as a small (but nice) Farmers Market during the week. Brea Downtown is a small open air collection of retail stores, restaurants, and 2 theaters? Yeah. They split their Edwards into 2 theaters. Weird. On the weekend this place is buzzing with people. Improv, Cha Cha's, Bruxie, Edwards, etc. There are plenty of places to attract people here. I found parking is somewhat difficult, but you could normally find a decent spot in a few minutes. Downtown Brea is a cute strip. There are 2 movie theaters, good places to eat, and small boutiques to browse around! This is a good place to hang out, go on a cute date, and catch up with old friends. My favorite stop here is Bruxie. The one place I have not visited (and always forget about) is the Japanese restaurant at the corner because it's usually dark and hidden! Brea Downtown has always been a cool place to go for a movie, dinner, drinks, or just to hangout. Through the years the retail landscape has changed a bit - some stores still remain while some are no longer. The Fatburger location is now a Bruxie - no complaints there, although it took me a while to try their waffle burgers and buy into their concept of a waffle sandwich. I'm glad to see that my favorite crepe place is around and still bustling. Farrell's Ice Cream took over a retail space years ago and is now a popular hangout. Food choices remain abundant. There are so many restaurants that will satisfy almost everyone's palate and budget. From Berkeley Dog to a waffle burger; from Japanese to Mexican. Seafood? Italian? Something fancy? Something cheap? And even some place funny too (Improv)? While the restaurants are getting busy, many boutiques stores are no longer there; which makes this area now mostly a center for food and entertainment, and not for shopping. But why come here to shop while Brea Mall is literally a few blocks down the street? Most nights and especially on weekends this place is always vibrant and the atmosphere is chill. I like their outdoor speakers which are always playing some cool tunes. The vibes here are cool and the people are nice. A great place to bring the entire family or just a date. Conveniently close to my place of work, downtown brea boasts restaurants to fill any palette, boutique shopping, theaters for cinema fanatics and lively nightlife -- all within walking distance of each other. Brea, you're no Solvang but you make it work. Downtown is fairly easy to navigate and parking is free and ample. There is valet and then there are the parking structures. I'm always in a rush so I just park wherever I can and then make a mad dash where I need to go. The two recent times I've been here I did stop to take a stroll though. The area is quite quaint. Lots of restaurants, benches, and festive lights to set the mood for a date. Plenty of coffee shops to grab a warm drink. You could definitely set the mood here and have a great time but alas it's always just me and my friends. No romantic date for this girl but oh well. Someday I suppose.. Either way, I enjoyed my walk especially after being here twice and feasting on food at 240 and then the gluttony tour at Bruxie no too long ago. I needed those walks to burn off all that food before I headed home and luckily I had the perfect area to walk around in. read more

But.. where else do you get FREE parking on a Saturday night, your choice of movies, and your choice of various restaurants, bistros, and bars? The crowd was totally 50-50 young college kids and OLDsters like me (40+) It was nice to be "out" in a city- like atmosphere that felt 100% safe, with multiple choices to round out the evening. Stay far away!! The Brea Downtown parking structure and Brea Police Department are corrupt! The Brea Police department will give you a parking ticket if you park your car on the white line in the parking stall area. The ticket cost $51 dollars for parking one inch on the white line! What a scam! The Brea City Mayor and Police Chief should know what is going on in their City. I paid the ticket to avoid any penalties! I will take my business to another city! read more

I came here to have dinner one night an was surprised how nice it was. Especially at night, the lights, the bustle of people. It reminded me a bit of Victoria Gardens in Rancho Cucamonga, but I think better.
