I sincerely wished that I had gotten the name of the wonderful man, who was working at Bering's and who immediately began helping me find what I needed to buy. He literally walked me around, asking others who also worked there, where to find these items. Of course we ended up in the right section with a multitude of selections which I truly appreciated. I found what I needed and I was a very happy customer! This person's excellent professional service was extremely appreciated. Instead, my first impression was "oops, wrong store." The main floor was showroom for living and dining furniture. It was air conditioned. There were "do not photograph" signs all over. When I looked at the prices and compared with the quality, I thought 'what a rip off.' The second part of showroom was bedroom furniture. The AC must had gone out. It was stuffy and smelly. I saw a few defected pieces on the showroom floor that were still at full price. There were some signs written in chinese "bu er jia" - meaning 'don't bargain'. I assume they provide private financing. That makes sense why they advertised on the paper. Its over 14 miles from chinatown - cheaper rent for warehouse style showroom.

I sat in Herman Miller's Aeron (all three sizes) and Embody, a couple Knoll chairs, and a few others that I don't recall the name. The waitstaff (owners?) were extremely knowledgeable, professional, and helpful. After having been ignored at the previous stores (and doubting their expertise), Sunset Settings was a great experience and I ended up buying a task chair on the spot. Living 50 miles, I called ahead and was told by the person on the phone that there wouldn't be a problem returning socks without a receipt. I made the trip in rush hour traffic (seriously), only to be told by the manager, who confirmed that she was actually the same person I talked to on the phone, that no return could be made without the original packaging. I replied that the socks didn't come in a package, only a wraparound sticker and a plastic fastener. She replied that she knew this, but considered those things to be the package. Really?!? To any sane person, those things are just trash! I suggested that she just scan an identical item from the shelf, but she refused, saying something like there was a chance of scanning the wrong one. I knew that there were only two versions of this product, though, because I had bought one of each version! It's standard practice for retail stores to grab a matching product from the shelf in order to scan the UPC. Her refusal to do so seemed to be a deliberate attempt to save face and deny my reasonable request. This misleading info and poor service wasted my time and fuel. I reached out to the corporate office, to give them a chance to make this right, but all they did was quote the return policy, which I did not run afoul of. To be more specific, the return policy does not require that the item be in its original packaging. I will be happy to remove my poor review of Ross Stores when they issue me a refund. Until then, y'all are better off going to the competition. There's plenty out there.
