Where to start? I contacted this landscaper via Yelp and it was a nightmare in 2 ways: 1. Lack of communications skills on the part of the contractor; and, 2. Numerous attempts to have him come out to provide an estimate of work, e.g., periodic landscape maintenance, provide gutter clean-up services, and "replenish" gravel on a secondary driveway and walkway that circles the property.
After numerous emails back and forth - we decided on him visiting my property during a Saturday morning . . . Fast forward to the end of the day, Pablo did NOT show up. Why? Again, numerous emails indicated he would be late, and then I received a final email indicating that he had a flat tire and because he had a late 1pm maintenance appointment to make, I was out of luck. Consequently, this contractor WASTED my entire day waiting for him to show up and provide an estimate.
I wrote him an email Sunday, indicating he had one last chance to redeem himself and show up on time and perform the estimate he promised me. I told him, what he decided would be a determining factor in whether I provided him a "Good, Mediocre, or Bad" review via Yelp. This morning he finally responded, i.e., sending a flurry of emails (prior to 6:30am). When I woke up, I could barely decipher what this person was trying to say, but it sounded like he wanted to come out and visit my property today. He also wanted to know the scope of work, even though I had provided him that during my initial contact, and specifically asked him to come out and provide an estimate. Again, I provided him the general scope of work and asked him what time he would be at my house?
Approximately 2 hours later, Pablo provides me an email where he tells me what he will do and what he wont do; as well as providing his contract cost rate per hour for various services. No mention of coming out to the property and providing an accurate estimate or apologizing for his incompetence up to that point.
I wrote him one last email, saying, "I have hired someone else. Goodbye . . ."
In conclusion, I would NOT hire this person if he was the last landscape maintenance person on planet Earth. Think about that for a second . . . He didn't even do any work on my property. I am fairly certain he probably does satisfactory and even good work, when he actually is on the job. However, his business aptitude and practices in all other aspects is very poor. For this reason, I deemed him unreliable and decided on going in a different direction insofar as my landscape maintenance needs. read more
